La famosa Whirlpool Jet Boat presenta l'unica corsa in jet board attraverso la Whirlpool Gorge e le rapide di Classe V. This estate sits up on a hill in downtown Lewiston, so you're isolated from the hustle-bustle of the town. We were there during a full-blown arts festival but we never heard a thing. Very tranquil and loads of space both inside and outside.

Enjoyed staying at the house. Wedding party took all their pictures here as well as the family pictures on this beautiful, historical property.

We had a family of 10 with 2 children. Perfect location as within walking distance to numerous shops, restaurants and close drive to Niagara Falls. Diane was a gem. She kept in constance contact to insure our stay was perfect. The Mansion layout is perfect for large families. Great livingroom areas to either join or have some quiet time to yourself. Highly recommended.

The Mansion is a unique location in a beautiful little town - located walking distance to anything including the Niagara River. Lots of room and character - much more memorable than staying at a hotel. Will be a pleasant memory for years to come.

The historical ambiance of the Mansion made this one of my most incredible VRBO experiences. Eight of us came to Lewiston to play in a golf tournament and the property was perfect for us. We had lots of room to spread out, plenty of bedrooms, had a big kitchen to cook our meals in and comfy chairs to sit outside at night and rest from our day. The gardens were so pretty and it was nice to sit under the canopy of trees.
The communication from the host was spot on, she answered all my queries and even called and texted to make sure we were okay. The message that she sent us with the historical information about the house made our stay that much more special. Thanks so much for sending us helpful information about the area and things to do!

Though this seams to be a 200 Year old property and big space, The Maintenance was very poor.
Bad odor in the toilet
Blankets are not washed
Wooden floors are giving sound like its going to fall
There was hole in the second floor bathroom, where if water is leaked, it was wetting the kitchen:(. So you cannot use the bathroom above the Kitchen when you are cooking
Please try for some other option for better price

The Barton Mansion is absolutely incredible- the history of this beautiful building, location in the heart of Lewiston, and spectacular architecture …not to mention comfortable beds, tons of space and sheer size! Diane was wonderful to connect with and very responsive. I look forward to renting the mansion again and would absolutely recommend this stunning home.

This is a lovely historic home just steps away from the river and the downtown core. The home was clean and well-appointed and the owner was extremely responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

The property was very clean and easy to find. The location is fantastic easy walking distance to the water or downtown, in addition to a playground for the kids directly on the other side of the property fence! The house offered enough space for our family, my parents as well as my brother and his family. There was only one problem, we wanted to use the piano. My husband plays and we were excited to see it in the pictures, however it was locked and unaccessible. We were able to entertain ourselves regardless but it was one of the reasons I booked the house. All in all, it turned out to be a perfect weekend. Sunshine each day and a trip to the falls and then Lewiston's Art Festival! Wonderful quiet town with plenty of dining and entertainment. I would recommend to anyone.

Bathroom leaks into kitchen heavy, outside lighting is very poor especially with steps that were unlit. Roof looks likely to leak very soon

Wonderful stay
This historical house was a beautiful place to spend time. The house was spacious with plenty of large windows that let light in. The kitchen was well equipped. The Niagara River could be seen from the kitchen and the grounds were also beautiful. Lewiston is a wonderful village. The host was responsive and friendly.
I would definitely recommend this property.

I cant thank Diane Enough for helping us on our stay in Lewiston. The home has quite a story of its own and is walking distance to Downtown. We will certainly be back.

Historically perfect
The pictures doesn’t do justice. It’s Beautiful historic mansion. The kitchen is awesome! Huge bedrooms and bathrooms. Enough space for my 5 children. The outside doesn’t need anything done to it like another review stated. Historical historical house and the foliage matches the atmosphere of the entire town. I will be staying again in the near future!

Like staying in a Museum!
Beautiful, central location and could accommodate a large party.
In need of some TLC, a fresh coat of paint and some maintenance.
Had to call property manager to get access code to door, there was no key in mail box.

Beautiful home and property
Beautiful large open home and property, but could use some cosmetic repairs, beautiful staircase. House has view of the river but obscured by overgrowth. Bathroom arrangement is a bit awkward if using all 5 bedrooms. Easily accommodates a large crowd.

Short Relaxing Getaway
Our overall impression of the property was beautiful. It was so nice to just get up and do nothing for a couple of days while overlooking the Niagara Gorge. My family and I would definitely stay there again .
Thank you for everything.

Leaves a lot to be desired
1. House address is not clearly marked, we had to look in the mailbox to be sure we were at the right place
2. There wasn't a key or code left per the check in instructions sent by email to us
3 no contact information for property owner or manager....tenants next door gave us the contact number they had after they entered their room. No answer and voicemail was not set up for the number they gave us
4 after 3 attempts and 40+ minutes Vrbo finally gave us the code to enter the house
Very stressful as we were 300 miles from home and it was very cold
5 The exterior of the house looked dirty and weathered, the inside was ok but definitely not Clean. The stove either hadn't been cleaned after last tenants or it is horribly stained to look filthy
7 The website stated there would be a charge for any damage we may do, there was so much damage throughout the house paint on the walls nicks in the woodwork, locks that didn't work and lights that flickered, cracked windows that were taped, broken bar chair, roof tarped off, spiral staircase rail was rickety and unsafe. it was really a disappointment we paid A LOT of money we sure expected better 👎👎👎
The website boasted of 3 fireplaces which is true however none were usable.
Signed
Not happy tenants

Beautiful Historic Home!
We had the most wonderful time staying at this historic 1800s home which has been beautifully renovated. The pictures on the website didn’t do it justice; inside was a lovely mix of original features and modern convenience. After being stuck in our home for months due to the COVID crisis, we were looking for a change of scenery and some space to spread out in, and this home didn’t disappoint. The patio is large and has a wonderful fire pit to sit at in the evenings. We love history, and this home has details pertaining to its role in the War of 1812. It is within walking distance to many restaurants. We loved the 200 year old fireplace, the portraits throughout the house, the wood plank floors, and the old servants bells. Whoever does the cleaning for this house before our arrival did an impeccable job, especially for a house this size and age. One thing to be aware of - there is a separate carriage house that can be rented within the larger home. When we were in the kitchen, we could hear either other renters or property employees (not sure which) talking quite loudly. That aside, we loved our stay and would definitely love to return in the future!

This property is awesome!
We had a great weekend with friends and family. The house is conveniently located in walking distance to all shops and restaurants in town. There is a large gathering stone patio with fire pit on the property. The house is decorated beautifully. The history with the house is very interesting. Everyone who came to visit loved the property. We will be back!

Home needs major renovation work. We would never consider staying there again.

Beautiful Wedding Venue at the Historic Mansion Overlooking the Niagara Gorge in Lewiston
This is a very nice historic home built over 200 years ago. This spacious home and 4,000 sf stone patio were a perfect venue for our daughter’s wedding.
We had all our children and grandchildren stay at the home with us. The home is walking distance to the town of Lewiston which is very quaint. It is also very close to the Niagara River which is a very scenic area.
We enjoyed our stay. We could have all our meals outside on the patio and the grounds were very large so the children could play outside. There is also a playground located next to the property.

Beautiful House, a few issues
This is a beautiful property and house with great outdoor space. It was nice to be within walking distance restaurants and shops and be only a short drive from Niagara Falls.
While the overall experience was a pleasant one, there were a few issues. Communication with the property manager was poor; I had to email the property manager to find out about how to get the keys, then received an email from the same property manager THE DAY WE LEFT welcoming us to the property and telling us where to get the keys. We had reserved the property for 6 adults and 2 kids for a week; we were provided a total of 6 bath towels. Thankfully, we had some guests arriving a day later who were able to bring towels from home. The last complaint was with the garbage; the outside trash cans were full when we arrived and were not emptied while we were there, so we had to just keep piling them on top of the old garbage.

Great historical property. Beautiful grounds. Attentive owner.

Great house with lots of character.
We loved the house and location. It was perfect for our family and the caretakers were very helpful and reliable. They need a few amenities, however. There was no CTV service (we bought a Roku), the internet was spotty, and there was no hair dryer, soap or shampoo in the bathrooms. Other than those items, which are easy to fix, it was perfect.

On a scale of 1 to 10, it was 15
The intimate grounds, the rich history, the quiet surrounds, ease of access to evening entertainment. The locals, The town of Lewistown. I was able to unplug with my guests and just enjoy all the delicious painting and pieces of history throughout the home. Diane was a wealth of information. The privacy was a plus. There was ample room and bountiful kitchen gadgets.
I would definitely come back again.

Perfect!
My large family checked into The Mansion over the Fourth of July. It was everything I had hoped for and then some. Beautiful rooms artfully decorated, spacious patios, porches, lovely furnishings and comfy beds. Diane, the owner and Rebecca, our caretaker, made sure we had what we needed. The location was ideal for us. Conveniently situated at the base of Center St. close to our favorite things, we found it to be the most ideal stay. We'll be back next year!

gorgeous old mansion right on the niagara gorge
We were a group of friends, 4 couples, that get together every year for a vacation together.
The property was beautiful. It had a great view of the Niagara river from the back yard. It was big enough for all of us, which is difficult to find. Diane, the owner, is very helpful and responds quickly when you contact her.
The town had several restaurants and coffee shops. We tried three different coffee shops while there, and they were all very good.
It was a very close and easy drive to Niagara Falls.
All in all, it was a great trip in a beautiful location. If you are looking for a larger house to stay in, then definitely consider this mansion. I highly recommend it.

My Beautiful Wedding STAY
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful Mansion built in 1815 with my entire family for my wedding day. We had reserved only 4 nights originally, but after our first night, we reached out to the owners to extend our stay. They were more than accommodating for us!! My rehearsal dinner was held in the dinning room, with the most impressive murals by a local artist. The chairs were gorgeous!! The wedding took place on the grounds themselves, on the Beautiful East Terrace under the natural arch of the wisteria. The magnolia tree was in full bloom, the colors were spectacular. It truly was a remarkable setting. The home has 2 large living rooms, each lined with books beyond your comprehension. (And each of great taste!) Each living room has a fireplace, that work ( for the winter months, it would be perfect for reading and cozying up with a hot chocolate!). The furnishings were top shelf, antiques, and modern, mixed so well together. The East Parlor has a Grand Piano. You may play it yourself or carefully have it play itself. Each Guest room was spacious and airy. The master bedroom has a king bed, a fireplace, huge walk in closet (I felt like a princess getting ready for my wedding) the bathroom is right off of the walk in closet (tub separate from shower). The view is over looking the beautiful nature of the property and lawns of the grounds. Each of the other guest rooms were unique, charming and nicely furnished. And original flooring. We did take a walk along Center Street and right down to the water (extremely convenient to everything in the Village) but we mainly stayed on the beautiful grounds. My nieces and nephews played tag and chase and we had a few picnics on the grass as a family and with beautiful weather!! We had a remarkable experience, and a lovely stay!! My Husband and I have already planned to come back for our 1 year anniversary. My sister in law, A HUGE history buff, fell beyond in love with the property, she is soon to be engaged and rumor has it, we will back at the end of August!! We will continue to treasure this beautiful home as our HOME AWAY FROM HOME! Thank you for a Family Vacation we will always hold dear to us.
