We chose this property to avoid the noise/crowding of the Cruz Bay area and indeed it delivered the quiet and seclusion that we sought. We found the drive to the North Shore area to be no problem and we were super close to the Salt Pond Bay which was fantastic. The choice of places to eat nearby is limited but we really liked Skinny Legs and another nearby restaurant enough that we didn't venture beyond Coral Bay for evening meals. We enjoyed the unusual decor, the beautiful gardens, and the rooftop star gazing at our property. We didn't realize that there might be limits on the use of the air conditioner (if the island looses power, as it did briefly once during our stay, the backup batteries for the solar panel system don't last too long). While the ocean breeze generally kept the place comfortable, there was a day or two when the breeze was inadequate. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable.

We try to return to Ric & Lolita's every year. The house is beautiful and comfortable with interesting artwork and unbelievable views. We had everything we needed or wanted for preparing meals. Ric & Lolita are very knowledgeable and were very helpful answering our questions about the island. We love staying at Orchid Garden and already booked again for next year.

This is such a unique, artistic and charming home! The character of the furnishings and craftsmanship make it special. The beds are comfortable. We enjoyed sunrises, happy hours and star gazing from the rooftop patio, morning coffee in the breakfast nook and reading books on the covered porch. It is in a quiet location close to some great hiking and great snorkeling in some pretty remote bays. We loved our stay and will cherish the memories.

This unique space is well designed for two couples -- each with en suite bath. You have the entire upper floor, plus various decks and patios, including a large rooftop deck -- all with panoramic views of water and islands. The living space is artistically designed and decorated with eclectic art from around the world. An amazing space in an amazing location!

the views were fantastic, the owners were very helpful and offered advice on what to see and where to go. Rick and Lolitta came up with some wine and food before we left and Rick regaled us with stories of their adventures which made the vacation more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place!!

This is our third stay at Orchid Garden and we hope to return next year. We love the views, the art work and how comfortable we feel at Orchid Garden. The location is very private. Cooking, sleeping and ambience are all wonderful.

I was looking for somewhere quiet to get some rest and this was exactly what was needed. Ric and Lolita have done a great job of making this place very serene and have lots of places outside to just chill.

Ric and Emily have created an amazing space at Orchid Garden. It is definitely off the beaten path (about a 45 min drive into Cruz Bay) but so worth it if that's what you're looking for. There is only air conditioning in the master bedroom (I did not read the "details" section), but with the lovely breeze and fans, it's comfortable. You cannot flush toilet paper - but we found out that's pretty common all over the island - just something to get used to. Overall, it was a fabulous stay. Emily was great about communicating with us and let us know that she and Ric were right downstairs if we needed anything. We loved the hermit crabs, lizards, beautiful plants, and amazing rooftop for stargazing. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful views and beautiful art
We really enjoyed our stay at Orchid Garden. From the many porches and the large rooftop terrace you have amazing views of the bay, ocean and surrounding islands, as well as the stars at night. The location is nice and secluded on the quiet side of St. John but close to a variety of activities like hiking, swimming and snorkeling. Ric and Lolita were very welcoming and responsive, offering tips for places to eat and things to see nearby. We would love to come back again in the future.

A great stay at Orchid Garden
We had such a wonderful time on St. John and staying at Orchid Garden was a good choice. The house had everything we needed including beautiful gardens and an incredible view. It is located close to many of our favorite snorkeling spots and beaches. Ric and Lolita are fine hosts and really nice folks. We’re already booked for next year!

Best rooftop - Best decor - Best everything
This house is an absolute gem. It’s on the quiet side of the island (so you need a car and it is kind of far from restaurants) and is super close to Salt Pond, hiking, and great snorkeling. The house is full of amazing art from all over the world and the rooftop has breathtaking 300 degree views. The owners are so kind and live below the rental. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing, funky, oasis that you never want to leave - this is it.

SHANGRI-LA OVERLOOKING CARIBBEAN SEA!
We had a wonderful experience visiting this property in Eastern St. John overlooking Caribbean Sea, Coral Bay and beyond which in distance the British Virgin Islands.
It is surrounded by beautiful tropical garden with countless varieties of flowers including orchids and with numerous birds including Humming Birds, Sugarbirds and Black Bullfinch!
The overall decor of the house is Far Eastern with with numerous curios and artifacts from Thailand, Myanmar , Bali, India and Vietnam
it looks like a living museum.
The terrace-rooftop is large spacious brilliant white color with statuettes from Far East and a large red Pagoda in center.
I used to get up early morning and with a cup of tea in my hand, sat under the pagoda and spent self reflective, meditative time welcoming beautiful colors of dawn and then Sunrise across the sea and surrounding islands. Very peaceful, serene, positive moments of the day! Bursting with positive energy.
The whole house is a photographer's delight! Besides land
scape photography I had great opportunity to conveniently do some night photography from roof top!
The Hosts, Emily and Rick were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the island , sightseeing places and made us feel comfortable and at home. Night before we left we all spent great time over the terrace watching Moonrise over the water with a glass of wine and appetizers!
We felt sorry to leave the palace but someday if opportunity arises will be back

Artwork and views
This property might lack all the latest convenience features (TV, dishwasher, disposal, modern plumbing) but it more than makes up for it with all the unique artwork and spectacular views. The hosts are most gracious and accommodating. Location requires a car (specifically a Jeep) but also provides privacy and gives you the opportunity to enjoy nature at its finest. The convenience features are NOT missed!

Incredible location, property and views!!!
I’ve been to St. John many times but have never stayed in the Coral Bay/East End area. My experience at Emily’s property was wonderful and I’ll definitely be back. The place itself was so cool and tranquil and had multiple patios and nooks for hanging out and relaxing. The gardens were lovely. But what made this stay stellar was the rooftop and the 270 degree views of St. John and the BVIs!! The pictures online do not capture the beauty! Emily was a great host and was always available for questions. We will most certainly be back!!

Orchid Garden is perfect!
We had the best time at the Orchid Garden. It’s a really unique place with amazing artwork from all over the world and a glorious rooftop. The views are incredible. Great location on the quiet side of the island with nearby beaches and restaurants. Ric and Lolita were wonderful hosts. We enjoyed hearing about their travels and playing a few games of chess. Spectacular rooftop view
We had an incredible week at Orchid Garden. We started and ended each day taking in the spectacular views from the rooftop. The view is truly unbeatable!
After driving the winding hilly roads of St. John, it was an added bonus to have a flat driveway and ease of parking.
Lolita welcomed us and showed us around the house when we first arrived. We did not need to contact her during our stay, but she was available if we had needed to. We appreciated being able to use the house phone to make a couple calls, as our cell phones were connecting internationally to the British Virgin Islands.
The location of the house was perfect for us - quiet and somewhat remote. It’s a quick drive to Salt Pond Bay, which we came to enjoy very much, and when we wanted to go to the North or Cruz Bay, it was only a 20 to 35 minute drive.
I wish I was back on that rooftop now, getting lost in the clouds!

The tremendous hosts have filled this wonderland with art, statuary and curiosities from Bali and SE Asia. A visual treat that brings a vibe that you won't find anywhere else on STJ. Outstanding in Every Way, Do Not Hesitate to Book This Property
I found this property by complete luck when booking a last minute trip to St. John. I was a little concerned at first because I did not really know the island and there were so many great places and areas to stay on St. John and St. Thomas. After seeing quite a lot of both islands on my trip I can say without a doubt that this was the best possible choice that I could have made. Absolutely everything about the property, the hosts and the area were outstanding and exceeded expectations in every way. You absolutely will not regret your choice. Staying here made my trip unforgettable and I am looking forward to returning very soon.

Country living, on an island
Overall, we did like our stay. There is just a lot of stuff in the house. Wish it had a more open feel. We would have like to open the windows to enjoy the nice breeze, but most of the screens had holes in them, or no screen at all. Property owners were great to chat with. A bit to far from Coral bay, so make sure you have a rental car. About a 10 minute drive to Coral Bay, and 35 minutes to get to Cruz Bay.

The Orchid Garden is a splendid property perched on a hilltop with 360 degree views. The rooftop deck is breath taking and it is hard to leave. The home has all of the necessities to cook and the owner Emily was truly remarkable throughout the stay.
This is definitely the location of you are looking to stay in Coral Bay.

EPIC STAY
This trip allowed me to reconnect with St Johns and discover the Coral Bay area. We will never stay anywhere else and found this area close to key outdoor attraction areas and some of the best snorkeling areas and hiking trails the island has to offer. The rental is very cool and comfortable with amazing ocean views from every window. The roof terrace will blow you away with expansive reviews of the sea by day an unbelievable star gazing by night. Local restaurants were good, close by and the owners will provide you with recommendations. We felt very safe and comfortable here under the present CV 19 pandemic. We look forward to returning !!
