Amazing property stay with our kids and dogs. Easy access to the beach and they had everthing we needed.

We have been coming to this condo rental for countless years and it never disappoints. Very clean, comfortable, with great amenities, easy to process, and great proximity to the beach. My kids loved having access to a pool in addition to the beach. Great setup for cleaning off sandy beach items. I really appreciate having a kitchen with full refrigerator, microwave, oven, and dishwasher. We usually bring our own beach gear but we appreciate the provided beach towels (we use them for the pool) and the beach gear in case we forget something. I also really appreciate that there are two parking spots reserved for each unit. I highly recommend any of the units in this complex. Thanks for another great vacation!

We had an amazing stay at Athena Ares this past week. Condo was perfect location to the beach (1minute walk across the street) and condo was spacious enough for our family of 4 and dog. Loved that we had two dedicated parking spots right in the front. Huge benefit was having the wagon and beach chairs available to use and not having to bring those from home with us. Property manager Sandy was so incredibly sweet and brought me some spare light bulbs. Kitchen was fully stocked with all the cooking utensils you would need. Would absolutely stay here again on our next trip.

The process for renting, check in and check out were absolutely fantastic and easy. The location was a three minute walk to the beach and the neighborhood street was very well maintained. The two bedroom condo was also very well maintained and very clean. I will definitely keep this location on my top 5 for staying at the island with pets.

The place was very nice and close to everything! The furniture was comfortable and having access to beach chairs and wagon was fantastic! Be sure to bring your own coffee and toiletries though.

Our stay at Athena Ares was PERFECT! The condo was beyond beautiful. Amber was amazing answering all my questions and making sure we had what we needed. The neighborhood was quiet and the walk to the beach was short and easy. I loved that our dogs got to enjoy a vacation with us without being cooped up in a hotel room. The pool area was amazing. We are already making plans for next year.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Everything was very clean and condo was just as advertised. Excellent location. If you plan on doing much cooking you may want to bring some extra storage containers for leftover food. There were a few burned out lightbulbs which made the kitchen a little dark for cooking. We were unable to find replacements and the owners didnt respond - not a big issue and that would be our only complaint. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Pool area was great!

The condo was perfect! It is in a great location, very clean and comfortable, and included everything we needed for the week. We loved the pool, outdoor kitchen & pool table. We would definitely stay here again!

They have been doing upgrades each year and they are greatly appreciated.
Perfect location for beach walks. Wonderful heated pool and large hot tub. Love that it is dog friendly. Ample parking. Nice patios on each unit.

This property was perfect! We had all ages and were there for a wedding. We rented the entire complex so we had use of the pool area. It was perfect for the rehearsal dinner and the reception!!!! Within walking distance of Wanna. Wanna and close to shopping. Across the street from the beach where we had the wedding so super convenient. It was safe and quiet and friendly. I would definitely recommend it and stay there again!!!

Our first afternoon there I went for groceries at Walmart, when I returned there was someone parked in my spot. I wouldn't have minded too much, but I had ice and ice cream in my vehicle that I needed to unload. Once confronted about being in my space, it took about 20 minutes for them to move their vehicle (while giving me an attitude about it). For two days in a row, all of these people monopolized the pool area and were drunk off of their stupid butts (and three were under the legal drinking age). Having two younger teens, I couldn't allow them to be in the pool with the drunks and their very large party, which was very unfortunate. Otherwise, the condo was lovely, the proximity to the beach was awesome, and we loved everything else about our stay.

Almost 5.0
This is a very nice property even though not a direct beach view. From the top unit we stayed in you can get a view between buildings. Beach access is so close--steps away. The pool and hot tub area are very nice and private with only 6 units in the building. We ran into some terrible weather during our stay, cold and rainy, but the hot tub and pool were still heated. We did not get to use the grills but a great set-up.
The unit was very well stocked with towels, bedding--except the kitchen really needs some pots and pans. I would have given the unit a 5 star except for this. I wanted to cook indoors on some rainy nights--had all my ingredients for pasta sauce and pasta only to discover there were only two extremely small pots to cook with. Very odd since there's blenders, lots of kitchen tools, but basically no pots and pans.
We did have two issues that were taken care of fairly quickly by local management, but a bit irritating to have to deal with. Both were issues housekeeping should have caught so we didn't have to sit and wait for the repair people.
Overall I would definitely recommend this unit and owners.

We stayed here for a week for our anniversary and it was everything we could have asked for, super close walk to the beach. Close enough walk to wanna wannas as well. The pool area was our favorite place to hang out after a day at the beach. I highly recommend this place and we hope to be back again in the future.

Great place
Awesome heat in the pool and hot tub. We were comfortable in the winter and it was a great part of this place. The condo was super clean with tons of towels and all the kitchen accessories really needed. The beds were comfortable and extra blankets/pillows in the closet for the cold nights. Walking to the beach was easy - lots of beach access. Chairs and wagon were available.

The kitchen amenities never faltered and we were able to cook our meals well. We never experienced noisy neighbors or street sounds, so we slept very well. There was a power outage that listed very few minutes but it was minimal, and did not cause an inconvenience to us. I very much look forward to coming back here next time I come down to SPI! Our family of 4 along with our furbaby stayed again over the New Year holiday. This is our 5th stay at Athena Ares and we love everything about it!! The location in perfect, the condo is clean and comfortable, the amenities are top notch, Alex, Amber and Sandy are a top notch management team to work with. Wonderful stay!
This property is just as advertised. It is clean, beautiful, and steps away from the beach. The owners were very responsive and helpful. The pool and hot tub were fantastic, I highly recommend and we will definitely be back,

The location of the property is great considering it's not on the ocean. A very short block away. It was wonderful to have a full kitchen and we used it for breakfast and lunch. Another great thing was the freezer has an ice maker! The beds are very comfortable. It was beyond wonderful that beach chairs, beach towels, and beach umbrella were supplied. We used them daily!
The owners are very easy to get a hold of. And they want to fix any problem immediately. (But some issues have been on going and should have been fixed before we rented... the bathroom? )
Cons:
We knew it was dog friendly but....it was a bummer that at the time of our stay there was only 2 units being used and they put us rt above and below each other! So, we could hear their little yapper dog early early morning and late in the evenings barking. Not great sound barrier between floors. Also, the sheets had lots of dog hair on them. We had to have our sheets replaced, which they were happy to do. We couldn't enjoy our balcony because the group below us were smoking and we got all the smoke at us. Which was unfortunate because we were looking forward to our evenings and morning coffee outside. So with that being said, I recommend that you ask to be located away from other parties if the condo is not full . And to the owners please place people away from each other if possible. The other thing about the condo is the bathroom shower/tub doesn't drain! And I guess that is an on going problem at that complex. So it was kinda gross to take a shower with water up to your calf... they did have a plumber come fix that and sink. But it was still gross that we experienced it. And the pool is ok. Not very clean. Lots of Swimmer bugs.
So all in all, our stay was ok. For how strict their rules are and booking policies are, and damage fees are,I thought we would be staying in something nicer than it was! Things need to start being repaired and fixed prior to each rental being used. If we return to south padre, I think we would easily be able to find many rentals compared to this one. It wasn't a 5 star in our eyes. Just a cheaper rental that could use some fixings!

Second time staying!
We stayed here last year and we’re glad we could stay here again! My daughter loved her “beach house”! We really enjoyed having meals at the table and having a glimpse of the ocean! Once again property was well cleaned and we love how close to the beach it is. Oh, and their swimming pool is great!

We loved staying here for our annual family vacation to SPI! The condo was very spacious for our group(3 adults, 3 teens, & a dog), the location was perfect & a very short walk to beach, & we LOVED having all the beach chairs, wagon, & umbrella provided. It makes it so much easier to not have to pack all that extra stuff! Having a washer & dryer in the unit was awesome! The pool area & hot tub were perfect to hang in after a day at the beach & also nice for the 2 days it rained. We will definitely be staying here again!
