Alojamiento solo acepta efectivo.

It was great! I took the river cruise and we saw many animals.
The rooms are nice and confortable. The food is also great!

Super consigliato.

We loved our stay here. We had reserved for 2 nights and they suggested the 3d 2n package and we finally stayed 3 nights. We did all the jungle cruises with John and it was great. John is wonderful and passionate about his job. We saw pygmy elephants, monkeys, lots of birds etc... The food was included in the package and we appreciated the organization. The location is perfect to explore the kinabatangan River. There is a small store not far from the hotel.

We spent 3 wonderful nights exploring the Kinabatangan River at this place. We had booked 2 nights but when we arrived, they offered us to get the package 3 days 2nights with all the meals and the river cruises included. And we don't regret it. The guide John is very nice and passionate about his job. We saw elephants, orangutans, probocis monkeys and all kinds of animals and colorful birds. It was very relaxing just to follow the program. Thank you again

The staff is top 10. The tour guide John is amazing as well the boat captain Khasim, the girls at the restaurant Nora and the others always welcoming.
The food is soooo tasty and they made sure i had vegetarian tempeh and tofu, the best ive tried and lots of delicious vegetables!!
The area is beautiful and calm, i came in november so i was alone and i loved it!
There is a convenient store withh all you need as well 1min walking!
The cabins outside are so pretty just need tiny changes inside!
The rooms inside could be renewed just a few details to make them more cozy as well as the bathroom just the style, 2 decorations and few fixing and painting would make this place 10 out of 10.
The area with a few hammocks and some resting places would give more options to the guests to enjoy the garden.
Also some snacks and drinks to buy in the restaurants would be a good option, books about the animals and some information about the place, ive missed that.

- Struttura ubicata sulle rive del Kinabatangan dove è possibile fare diverse escursioni in barca.
- super market vicino (solo quello)
- la guida, John, molto esperta e simpatica.
- cibo super ripetitivo
- camera molto spartana
- bagno veramente orribile senza un vero e proprio piatto doccia.

Friendly staff, great location, very good value for money to see the river on a budget and without a tour group. Cruises were great, the guide and boat captain were great at spotting animals and providing insights about the animals. Food was tasty and good value (20 MYR per person, set menu) and breakfast was included. They organised transfers for us to and from Sepilok.
Slightly stained bedding, one of the two towels in our room was significantly more stained/old than the other. It's fine for a couple of nights of budget travel, but the rooms are basic and a bit rough around the edges. Dogs roam the property and follow you to your room which we were fine with but might be quite scary for those less comfortable with dogs.

Very good location, nice garden and excellent guide on Kinabatangan river.
It could be cleaner.

Triple room was clean and comfortable with good AC. Food was tasty, and self-serve meant portion sizes was up to you so you won’t go hungry! Very friendly staff and river guides who were very attentive and keen that you saw as much wildlife as possible. I’d recommend bringing your own binoculars, but the groups are happy to share as well if you forget. Brilliant experience for those on a backpacker budget
For where you are and what you’re paying, it’s a great lodge and excellent value for money.

Clean, comfortable and friendly - what more could you want. John was an excellent guide and we loved our time on the river and surrounding walks.
We had a great time

Great location next to the river , rooms are large and comfortable , but a little old . Staff were all nice and friendly . River tours were great , we got to see so many animals ! Over all, this is a good choice for Sukau . Especially considering the price .
The street dogs that we saw around the grounds were skinny ! We Fed them twice a day whilst there , the shop next to the river sells food , please be kind and feed the dogs if you see them 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The walls are thin and the coffee was weak .

Nice cottages very close to the river.
Abyolutely frindly and helpful staff. Guides really did their best to show us wildlife.
Free drinking water all day.
Not enough space in the room to put your things.
Could be more clean.
Food is very basic and almost the same every day.

Really amazing experience. Did their 2 night/3 day package and it exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious and they gave really good portions. Would definitely recommend it as a good budget option to do the river cruises and experience the river in general. Very friendly staff who went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed the stay.

Location for river trips was perfect. Rooms clean, basic and air conditioning and hot water worked. Staff were very helpful and friendly
Meals were very basic. 1 small shop nearby. Nothing else here other than villagers homes. Old and tired.

Amazing stay on the river with Sakau backpackers, the stay exceeded our expectations! We message the property before we arrived and booked a 3D2N tour, which included cruises, a walk and all meals. This was well worth it and works out cheaper than booking the activities seperately. The guides John and Lau were great, John had a bubbly personality and worked super hard to make our experience on the river great, even sharing his banana fritters with us and telling us about the Saturday night market to visit. Lau has exceptional eyes and shocked us with how he could spot the nature on the river. The guides on the cruises will do everything they can to spot wildlife and the passion was visible when anything was in sight. The girls on reception were also very nice and polite, and very helpful organising transfers to and from Sepilok.
We read mixed reviews of this hotel, it is definately you get what you pay for in terms of the rooms but they are comfortable and as good as you’d expect for the amazing locations. Clean hot showers and a spacious cabin with aircon is more than we could ask for for the price. The food was decent, nothing amazing but big enough portions and a nice variety of local food. Also free tea, coffee, drinking water and boiling hot water available at all times which we appreciated.
We were worried about booking a cheaper option and not having as good an experience, however we now realise that all the tours are the exact same it’s just the accommodation luxury that differs. Thanks for our stay, we look forward to being back on the river. We wish we had stayed longer :(
Could hire a better cook, but the meals were good enough. Maybe offer a cruise in the daytime, although this may not be possible in the heat. Alternatively could offer other day activities such as visiting the village, market ect.

the staff and location were wonderful
Our bathroom sink leaked water on the floor whenever the water was on. also the toilet did not work properly and had to take tank cover off and push button to start and float to stop. windows stuck open so ac only fair at cooling. Food not very good to awful.

The team is very helpful and supportive, good communication in advance, flexible options. The room is well equipped with Fan, Aircon and a hot shower, we only missed some chairs for sitting on the veranda. During our stay we spotted elephants, crocs, all kind of monkeys and many colorful birds very close. It‘s absolutely worth doing all kind of river boat trips! If you arrive by public bus be sure to book a bus ticket for the next trip asap because it‘s quickly fully booked. The reception team was very helpful with that.

I loved the place because it’s truly in the heart of the jungle. we were very lucky to see so much wildlife in the space of those two days. our guides were amazing and if there’s any wildlife he /they will defo spot it for you! for that I would give this place a 10star.
however, i think the 3D2N is a bit misleading as in reality you not even there 48h. so technically it’s not even two days. however, it’s worth to buy a package because they put prices up if you want to buy things separately (I thought it will be more convenient to buy separately as I really couldn’t work out how 3days would fit in that). but there’s no point. however, I find the description of 3D very confusing and misleading.
the rooms or more are very comfortable and the area around was very tidy. there’s table and bedside table so it’s very practical.
the meals didn’t really do for me except delicious curry that we had one night. it’s just very small potions for an adult (2eggs for breakfast would be more suitable). flavours were very good but I feel like it wasn’t enough (curry was too dry, and generally it felt like there wasn’t enough sauce to any meal we had with the huge amount of rice that we were given, but for what it was, it will fill you up for two days.
the most important for me were views and that was definitely delivered by amazing guides.
very lovely staff, helpful and very welcoming.
there are also dogs walking around freely which I wasn’t aware however they very friendly.
I think food needs more thought put into it. it was too much rice for my taste and not enough sauce with any meal we had. it was tasty just very small potions for adults.
there’s a supermarket nearby that you can buy some snacks:ice creams, biscuits, chips even noodles etc.

Good location near to shop, weekend market and restaurant. Very helpful staff - they arrange transfer from Sandakan and back to Sukau junction and reserve seats in bus to Semporna. Great river tours.

Cruising down the river was really special.

It's a quite place in the nature. The room is nice and the shower is good. You can book river cruises with reasonable prices. We also liked the free drinks (water, tea, coffee).
The food in the restaurant is ridiculous expensive (RM20 per person for nothing special). The communication with the staff failed in some points (we didn't get breakfast, they booked a driver for us although we told them 3 times we didn't need one).

The perfect stay for a couple of days on the river
The owner takes you on tours for morning, afternoon and night - easy to book these at reception. he’s really knowledgeable and very passionate.
we were lucky - we saw wild orangutans and crocs as well as loads of proboscis mobiles etc
proud to say that it was our owner who spotted the orangutans - the .
as soon as word got out, the area filled up, so it was so special to be the first there
it’s a bit run down, but for the price - it serves a purpose for a few days exploring
they don’t cater to a vegan diet. I ordered toast twice and it arrived with egg on it

The place and associated activities is fantastic! We had some of the best guided river cruises I've ever been to. The guide/boat driver is exceptional, he can spot a bird inside a bush from 50m away at night!!! :) In only 3 days (or 2 full days and one morning) we managed to spot Long-tailed macaques, pig-tailed macaques, Proboscis monkeys, Orangutan (!!!), 3 species of hornbills, a massive saltwater crocodile, and countless bird species and a snake. The setup is very easy, you just sign up to your trips (there is one cruise in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening) or hikes, and then meet the driver/guide at the reception 5min before. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and clearly knew a lot about the river and the animals there. The staff at the place was also really nice and accommodating and always smiling. The food was very nice, with generous portions. You can buy additional beverages at the place, or go to a nearby supermarket where you can find a lot of products. The place is really beautiful, all green with full of animals (we saw hornbills in the trees just outside the room). The room was simple, but had everything we needed. The bed was really comfy, and the shower worked well and provided hot water. The air con worked great, as did the fan, and we had very few bugs in the room. All in all, a fantastic stay that I will never forget. Highly recommended!!!
I liked everything:)

I did the package and saw so much wildlife. The staff and guide were extremely helpful, informative, kind and friendly. Great location next to the river. The lodges are comfortable and big. Food was lovely. Great value for money. Would recommend.

I wasn't expecting much of my stay and in that respect it didn't disappoint! The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was perfect, being right next to the jetty for the river cruises. The property was nicely laid out with a relaxed feel. Each room was part of a two-room chalet, but the walls between the chalets were painfully thin and I could hear everything from the people staying in the room next door. The room itself was very basic, with a/c and fan, but no other creature comforts. The bed was ok, but had the typical hard foam pillow which is so uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom was very basic, but functional. It was cheap and in a good location and to be honest met my - somewhat low - expectations. I would probably stay again and recommend to others, but don't expect comfort or luxury or you will be disappointed! I suppose the clue is in the name of the property . . .

The transfer from Airport return was brilliant. Very pleasant driver. On return dropped us at a new location and waited for us whilst we got new accommodation, as we didn't stay at first hotel he took us to next place! This was incredibly helpful. The boat tours were lovely and the reason we went there. The skipper although extremely pleasant and worked hard didn't speak much English, would've been nice to talk about the area and the animals etc. Having an all inclusive deal - Transfers, accommodation, food, boat tours and jungle walk was great.(especially as there was nothing else around). The evening tour was a pleasant surprise as we got up so close to birds we could've touched them.
The Rooms really need cleaning, it all needs cleaning, maintaining and upgrading. Things desperately need to be fixed, like water not draining from sink, flexi shower holder broken so had to hold whilst showering. Taps squirting water out in all directions. No top sheets in one room, just a towel to cover up. Wooden walkways rotting. The food actually was not good. Same thing everyday. The hosts would sit and constantly watch their iPhones which is ok except they would have them at full volume and this was loud! The open communal area was really lovely but totally spoilt by the intrusive noise of the iPhones. Really 1 night and 2 days would've been more than enough. I am sure when this place was built it would've been spectacular but now it is just old and very run down.
