This is a very nice and beautiful cottage that is a short drive to city center, yet between two sets of hills making it feel almost rural. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We only stayed a short time but wished we had booked for longer. Very private and everything we needed.

Absolutely beautiful location with surprise private tennis court below. Space was wonderful; a few housekeeping items when we arrived (crumbs on floor below table and tub and toilet that needed obvious attention) but luckily cleaning products were on hand and we finished it up ourselves - perhaps the cleaning was interrupted and then forgot to be finished? Rest of house was great. Wonderful deck and dining/living room, spacious bath and bedroom. Driveway is narrow so park cautiously if you’re not comfortable with backing up but we loved it. Hosts available if we needed them.

Well appointed cottage with all amenities as listed. Everything was clean and comfortable. As warned, don't pull past the main house, it is a narrow reverse. Carol and Alan insured we had everything we needed without being intrusive.

You almost forget that you are just 20min from the CBD. With a view across the valley (despite the power lines) and everything you need to relax and unwind. Prefect for our family for a few nights.

Although this place was just a little outside of Wellington, it felt like we’d escaped into a peaceful oasis every time we returned from driving around. Gorgeous setting with beautiful grounds. We woke up everyday to birdsong. The city is only a short drive away and there was easy access to lots of other places via the highway. Comfy bed, well appointed kitchen and bathroom Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay for our first trip to New Zealand.

Excellent property in an amazing location with exceptional views. Set in beautiful gardens, peace and quiet is guaranteed. Extremely comfortable bed and high equipment level. The cottage is remote but not difficult to find and we would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you.

The hosts certainly didn't exaggerate with the rural description; the cottage isn't easy to access without some means of transportation (they will certainly warn you if you think that trekking up to their house on a cold winter night from Takapu Valley station is a good idea), and the cellular coverage can occasionally break. The gate system is not the most easy to find as its a couple meters way from the gate to your right on arrival. Put those aside and you have a cottage that could put some hotels and apartments in the city to shame. We may have been easy to please, but the cottage spelt luxury with its amenities and space, and despite it being winter during our visit the views are simply breathtaking. The kitchen is very close to the living room so extra caution while frying foodstuffs, otherwise cooking is pretty simple, so does the laundry. Heating is good enough, washroom fully decked with a shower and bathtub to boot. Pickup truck owners may find parking not as straightforward, but otherwise a small issue overall. The tennis court was secluded from the deck view during our visit. Rackets are provided for guests wanting a game or two. During the night when the lights go out from the cottage, the deck presents itself as the perfect place to stargaze if the skies are clear. 10/10. An absolute treat.

An outstanding place to stay if you’re exploring the Wellington area. Tucked away just outside the city, in the charming country side rolling hills, this our stay here was easily the most luxuriant of our trip to NZ. Would stay at this property again in the future.

Lovely country setting just a few short minutes from motorway. Great getaway after a day at a conference. Host sent check info about 3 weeks before which was lovely so no second guessing if they have your booking etc.

Had a smooth checkin as keys were outside the property. Property had a beautiful view and deck and verandah. I stayed with my parents and kids and it was a comfortable stay. The host was very thoughtful and caring. I would definitely recommend. 5 stars.

The cottage is beautiful and has everything you need and the location is wonderful. Beautiful views and great location to Wellington. Highly recommend Te Papa Miseum and Weta Workshop. Close drive to restaurants and grocery stores. Great place to stay.

Just like staying in your own elegant cottage. Beautiful location in the secluded hills of Wellington. Quaint little town 5 min. drive with wonderful restaurants, shopping, groceries and gasoline.

We loved staying in this beautifully maintained cottage with its spectacular gardens, just a 15 minute drive to Wellington. Well stocked and private - perfect for a stay in Wellington without the hustle and bustle.
