This was a great stay in a very clean, nice and comfortable house. The listing was correct on all points, and communication with the owner was timely and very friendly. Location is great - 10 minutes from the touristy spots but far enough to not have crowds of people walking by. I would recommend this house and the owners any time. Thank you

The house was nice but in places the web site says a king, 3 queens and 4 twins which is accurate. Elsewhere on the site it says a king 4 queens and 2 twins. In a 3 generation family like ours with multiple widowed and unmarried adults of different sexes knowing how many separate beds are available is important. It should be an easy fix. The house and property are lovely.

The house was so warm and cozy to stay in. A lot of the signage is a bit outdated and all say different things - specifically in regards to check out. We did use the email as it was the "most recent" information we had. The stairs were coated in ice and there was no salt in the home to help us remove it which made getting in and out with infants (a 7mo and 2yr) a little scary. The upstairs bathroom had some mold on the drywall above which set off a lot of our allergies. The hot tub was also VERY foamy, which made it pretty unbearable after about 10 minutes - which was unfortunate as it was definitely a feature that made us pick this home. However, the TV was nice, the kitchen was clean and very usable, even for 2-3 adults cooking/hanging out at once. The long dining table was perfect for having meals together and playing board games. The park pass was a nice addition and we did hike around the water falls. the multiple floors made it easy to be together when we wanted and separate when we needed. The large number of sizable bedrooms also made it easy for 3 small families (6 adults 2 babies) to have a cozy and fun weekend together.

A roomy property with space for all. Quiet location with quick access to the park, Oakland or Mchenry.

Very great space and had a great time. Only issue we had was the first night, we lost water and didn’t have any until Saturday. John and maintenance were extremely helpful and came right away to fix the problem. This is a super cool property and would recommend to others for sure. Thanks again John and Kathy!

We play Cornhole a bunch. There was enough space and privacy. That along with the fire pit made this a great place to stay.

We all loved the house! It was perfect for 11 of us ladies. The table in the dining room was nice for us all to sit around for breakfast and playing games in the evening. Location of the house was close to restaurants and shopping ! We even had 4 deer come into the back yard which was sweet to see ! Would definitely rent this house again !

There waa plenty of room for our crew to spread out through the house. Bedrooms and living space. It was only a 15 minute drive to Wisp. The owners were responsive when I had a question. The house was clean and affordable for what we were looking for.

Nice little cabin in a quiet area by the lake. Accommodations were exactly as described, everything worked as expected, no surprises at all. Pros: Quiet area, nice hot tub, well-outfitted kitchen, plenty of heat in the rooms, and lots of hot water for bathing. Cons: Hard beds, old furniture, dated decor. Again, no surprises based on previous reviews. Overall, a very good value for the price, and a very pleasant stay!

We spent Christmas weekend with our family of 8 (4 parents, 4 young adult children) and had a wonderful time. The house had all we needed in a cozy layout that allow for together time as well as separate spaces to escape to. We took full advantage of all the amenities… hot tub, fire pit, grill, WII video games, board games and neighborhood walks while at the house. And we ventured out to ski at Wisp, ride ATVs, hike Swallow Falls and eat dinner out at Mountain Brewery. Christmas ‘21 was a success and created some great memories. We will definitely be coming back!

The house was wonderful. We had Thanksgiving dinner there and there was enough room for us and enough pots and dishes for us. The house was well stocked. We will rent here again.

If you enjoy the great outdoors and hiking this cabin has you covered. We have stayed 2 years in a row now and it’s everything we need from beds to big kitchen to hot tub after a long day of exploring trails. I can see year 3 of using white oak as our base camp in the future.

This house was amazing! John an Kathy have a beautiful home! They were so gracious for allowing us to bring our service dogs with us! The home had plenty of space! Everyone had their own rooms, although the beds were extremely hard :( that is the only thing I would change! We made lots of memories shared lots of laughs! We made tons of good food! Spent the nights on the large covered deck an chilly nights in the hot tub! We will for sure be back! Spent days hiking at swallow falls which they provided a state park pass!

We were in town for a long weekend and were able to spread out with 5 adults, 3 Kids and 2 dogs. The house has all the amenities you need (including more microwaves than ive ever seen in one house). We enjoyed the firepit, hot tub, all the activities at Wisp and even jumped in the lake on a cool October night…great place…would stay there again.

Great large house with all necessary amenities. Enjoyed seeing wildlife everyday. Close to several state parks and hiked in three different states. Great time.

4 of us friends wanted a quick getaway for the weekend, it was perfect for a short trip. We rented a pontoon boat where we were able to bring our dogs on board. They were both quick to respond to our questions. The only thing we had a small issue with was finding the dock since the sign on the tree was small. Other than that It was very enjoyable, we thought we would have an issue with the WIFI, but we had no problems with that either! Thank you

This place was big and accommodating. Porch was a wonderful place to sit and visit.

Overall, it was a great place to stay. The furniture needs replaced. The couches were very uncomfortable. Expect a difficult walk to the dock if you are not used to steep, rocky paths. Location wise, it is very convenient to town and the state parks.

I booked this property last second for a get away with my family. The reviews online are consistent and could use a deep cleaning. As this was last second, we relied on having internet connection as we had some work obligations early in the week. Unfortunately, the internet did not work! This created a lot of stress, work arounds, and took days off of our relaxation time. We would not have booked if we new this was an issue. In addition, we ensured someone was home when the issue was trying to be resolved. This also took time away from our trip. It was resolved midweek which is good for future guests.The positives, the owner was very communicative and helpful in trying to ensure our stay was pleasant. The location was convenient and the deck was outstanding. We were always outside on the deck or firepit at night. The dock was nice to sit on, relax, and room to park a boat.

Wife , daughter and friends really enjoyed the house and the location. Only one issue seems like an animal may have gotten underneath house and died. Bad odor! Probably need to get someone to address. Besides that house is great

Our group of 7 adults and 3 teenagers had a wonderful time during our off season stay at the "white oak lodge". The house was clean and had plenty of room. WiFi was strong enough to support the kids' activities and several of our group working during the week. Note that the dock is decent walk from the house and includes a lot of stairs. It is also not in the water during the off-season. This is likely not a surprise if you frequent the deep creek lake area.

The property had everything we needed for a weekend escape from the city -- the backyard was perfect for games, the living room a cozy spot for movies and some Wii sports, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner at home. It was a short drive to Wisp for an afternoon of skiing, and a short walk to the lake access. John and Kathy were very responsive throughout our booking process and were flexible when we needed to change the dates of our stay. Thank you for everything!
