We really enjoyed our stay at Hostal San José. The hostel and rooms are very clean, well furnished and decorated. The staff is super nice and the two dogs lovely. We're really sad that we just stayed for one night. The hostel, Somoto and the surrounding is worth to stay for a while!

Just keep in mind that it is more a hotel then a hostel. So there is no shared kitchen. A refill option for water bottles would be great!

Very clean and comfortable with an amazing breakfast. The staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again.

The breakfast was tasty and the staff was superb. The rooms were nice and equipped with essential things needed. Ideal location for start of tour to Somoto canyon.

Good value for your money. Extremely friendly host with 2 cute little dogs. You can choose your breakfast: fruits with toasts/pancakes or tipico.

Everything! Hostal San Jose it’s a clean, comfortable place with extremely kind owners. Our room was spacious and had everything what we needed. it’s closed to the bus station and centre.

Very friendly staff. Helped us with registering a new Sim card for our phone, figuring out bus timetables and arranged a great Canyon tour. Breakfast was tasty, room and bathroom were spacious.

WiFi was a bit patchy. Shower didn't have any hot water but wasn't too cold so we weren't bothered but if that's important to you, something to know.

Very comfortable, spacious, friendly and clean. the owner of the hostal gave us a wonderful tour of Somoto canyon. Breakfast was delicious.

Nice room in good location. Tasty breakfast. The host is what makes this accommodation great. My advice is to do the Canyon tour with him. You can easily spend more than one day here as there is much to explore than the canyon like hot springs and petroglyphs.

Exceptionally clean, the owner Emir is such a kind and helpful person, the breakfast is fantastic. I went on a tour of the canyon organised by Emir using a local guide and it was brilliant.

Everything was great! The owner were really nice, the breakfast delicious, the room clean and the guide for Somoto Canyon he organized was amazing.

Just perfect! Central location, breakfast is good and a hot shower! The best is the personnel, very kind and helpful! The tour we did through the Canyon was very nice. They even prepared sandwiches when we had to leave at 5 in the morning, so kind!

This hostel was really amazing! The location is perfect, since it is located in between the centre and the bus terminal. The hostel owner also arranges trips to the Somoto Canyon (and joins himself for the cliff diving!) which is really convenient. The beds were good as well.

Great location, delicious breakfast and lovely staff. Tours organised here for the Somoto canyon too. Easy short walk from the bus station.

More expensive than other places we've stay d for a triple room.

The owner is incredibly helpful and tries his best to make everybody happy. Special wishes for breakfast, recommendations for restaurants and everything is met. And then in my case he even sent me two things I forgot over there through Nicaragua. It was difficult and seemed impossible, but he made it happen, without asking anything in return. Also the bed is comfortable, everything's clean and you can wash your clothes by hand and hang them if you want, which I found very useful.

The staff did everything to make my stay enjoyable. The hostel was spotless and safe. I enjoyed how central it was. Nice staff especially Mauricio.

Would have preferred fresh coffee for breakfast and maybe some fruits as well Also, a bigger (normal sized) fridge to store to keep some food or water would be good

Really nice place to go visit the Somoto canyon. The host organized the whole trip to the canyon with guide, and it was a success! Super clean place, nice breakfast. Would definitely recommend staying here for a couple of days and enjoy the quiet environment. And also, the host was so friendly to bring us to our next location in Esteli, because he had to be in Managua.

Quiet and relaxing hotel ran by nice family who is very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was very fresh and delicious. The room was clean and comfortable, quite new build and beautiful patio, good value for price. Very nice atmosphere, walkable to bus station (easy to travel to by local bus) and local restaurants. Family is friendly and will help with tour to somoto if desired as well as any other needs. Highly recommend!!!

Lovely new hostel with super friendly and helpful staff. Great value for money and an ideal base for a visit to Somoto Canyon. The room was great - much more hotel than hostel. The bed was very comfortable and the WiFi worked very well during our stay. Breakfast was very tasty and freshly cooked. Free, secure parking was available a short walk away.

The staff were great they organised a canyon tour for us and were very accommodating when our bus was late. Location is very close to the bus station. Our room was newly renovated and the WiFi worked well.

The owner is such a great person! Rooms were clean and comfortable. We asked for a room with hot shower and he quickly helped us. He is very knowledgeable about the area and we also toured with him to the Canyon, which is highly recommended (don't go without a guide..). High value for the price you pay and highly recommended! And as an extra.. He picked up every piece of trash he found thrown around the canyon. He really cares about nature, which is heart warming to see.
