Booked weeks in advanced. Unfortunately there was a rule re: pets not stated in advanced (at least through third-party booking.com) that made it impossible to stay as planned. Had to cancel plans for the evening due to this situation. In order to expedite our exit without an extended discussion, I begrudgingly offered to pay the first night that I might at least get a partial refund. Given the modified terms not previously stated in our agreement, it is my position that I should have gotten a full refund. I paid for a service I did not receive. This is exacerbated by the fact both me and my wife are locals. Anyone who’s lived in the DR knows what a local salary is like. I was charged the equivalent of my wife’s weekly salary (45 hr week) for a night and we never actually stayed. As much as I dont want a lingering bad feeling with the owner, this is obviously very upsetting. The owner expressed disappointment at having to agree to lose the ability to sell 2 nights. Frankly it’s hard to feel bad for that because (1) the rule that caused the whole issue was nowhere to be found in the booking page as acknowledged by the owner herself (she looked through the page with me) and (2) I sincerely doubt her losing 2 nights of business is anywhere near my wife working 45 hours and essentially having to give that money away just to avoid an argument.

Atmosphere, family staff , clean rooms, perfect pool , plants , beach , Mnamy breakfast , kind people guest .... After 2 weeks I have spend at Garden by the Sea Sosua I was crying to leave ... I've travelled extensively throughout my life. I've seen the worst, and the best - and Garden By The Sea is among the best. I could not have been more pleased. Nikki is an absolute sweetheart. The accomodation was impeccable. Do not hesitate to book this place!

It was a beautiful property, nice size rooms and very friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious and the beach was only a 3 minute walk away.
