Great service, very clean, amazing room with lovely balcony. Gym was very good. Spa excellent.

Great location. Great facilities including swimming pool, sauna, steam room, showers, hair dryers and GHDs provided in the changing rooms. Friendly staff with a good turndown service - staff asked whether there was anything we had run out of that evening. Complimentary Molton brown products were great. Informative magazines in our hotel room, as well as optional newspaper service. Complimentary water in the room as well as fresh milk.

Breakfast was very average. It would have been overpriced if we’d had to pay for it separately to our room. We were disappointed that the jacuzzi was out of use during our stay.

Check in was great, house-keeping coming straight to us once we got to the room checking if everything was going ok and if we wanted turn-down. The room was lovely, the tea tray and bathroom, water in the fridge and fresh milk. Brilliant attention to detail - and very clean. The sticky toffee pudding is the best - and so was the breakfast!

I'm sad to say, our main meal - lukewarm/not warmed up enough from pre-cook. We didn't get asked if we wanted any side dishes. Everyone else's fish and chips and burgers looked great so we had food envy when ours weren't up to par. Also, I emailed the Spa a week before our arrival after 3 phonecalls that were unanswered and had no response - 5 days after leaving and we still haven't had a response!

The couple on the table next to us loved Pinot Grigio wine. They came on a package which included Pinot Grigio wine with dinner. They had Pinot Grigio in the bar which they liked but were served a sub standard white wine at the table which the manager tried to pass off as Pinot Grigio. The bottle didn’t say what it was but the manager said this was the wine they had to have. I think it was sharp practice to offer Pinot Grigio on a package & then not deliver it. This couple were very sweet but very upset but didn’t want to cause a fuss with the overbearing manager.

Breakfast was tasty but a little slow in coming. Location in lovely countryside was nice.

There was no hot water in the shower and the staff were slow to respond as this was a problem for the whole top / second floor. They eventually moved us to a disabled room on the ground floor so we could have a hot shower. We were only staying one night and this wasted about 1.5 hours of our time. The swimming pool was very busy and full of noisy kids as they sell membership as a health club so the pool is not just for the use of the hotel guests. This is not made clear at booking. Not a very relaxing experience. Also the jacuzzi was out of order.

Location Clean & tidy Quiet

Room was very cold on arrival. We had to speak with reception to resolve it, which took a while. Apparently it was set centrally on a cold setting. It was below zero degrees outside! Hot water was tepid throughout the stay. When we raised this with reception, we were told it was due to the outside temperature being cold, and the number of people staying, no apology. My husband used the shower in the leisure area as it was warmer than the one in the room. Not acceptable for the price of the accommodation. Breakfast service was very slow. It took over an hour in total, and half an hour from ordering to our food arriving.

I booked this as a Christmas gift for me and my husband to enjoy while we had my parents staying with our child. Unfortunately, my grandfather died and I needed to rush my parents to the airport on the night we had planned the booking. I rang as soon as I could and explained the situation. As this booking was made through booking.com no refund available or no possibility of whatsoever which was surprising giving the situation. After several emails and calls back and forth a possibility to rebook this stay within the next 3 months was given but after weeks nothing as happened despite several calls to either booking.com and the hotel. Such renown place we thought we would never be in this kind of lack of answering/replying, care or even respect after sending proof/certificate of death. We are both working couple with no help from family as we are emigrants and we were so happy to look for ONE night away just 10 minutes from home. I do not recommend this hotel as if you end up like us in need of something exceptional do not expect anything at all.

Room was super clean, comfortable & very well presented with everything needed for short break. Staff all friendly from Reception to Restaurant to Domestic staff. A special thanks to Pat on evening turndown who went the extra mile to advise on Leisure facilities & bringing us nice dry towels for when we got back from swimming as you have to use room towels in the Pool area. Breakfast delicious and all cooked to order.

Being very picky the evening meal menu was to posh for our simple tastes but thats really our problem not the Restaurants

We liked the location, the room, the leisure centre and very good hospitality. Definitely recommended.

We had a double room for our stay, all good but we had two single beds, on wheels, not good at all. Otherwise no problems.
