Really good place! Initially booked a shared dorm, but it smelled from the guy next to me so I moved to a private and had a very pleasant stay. The hostel welcomes everyone very personally and also has a very high security here, great for self check in as well. The owner helped me get the same room for all my nights, I booked 2 and extended 1. Would have stayed longer if I had more time. Also, it had a heater without me having to ask for it. Great common spaces, both indoors and outdoors for socializing. Very well decorated for socializing. Was very easy to meet people and make new friends. About 10 of us went out one night. And 10 went to the walking tour together, so very easy to meet people. Breakfast was decent, and also great way to meet people. Free lemonad all day as well! One more bathroom would have been good, since lots are sharing. But still doable and all clean. Close to the center, but far away from noise. Perfect. The hostel has been around for a decade, and you feel it because everything you need, they've already thought about it and solved it.

Adding a volunteer at night would be a good idea. My room was next to the common room, where people were socializing loudly at night. With no hostel staff in place, no one was told to keep it down. One more bathroom would be good. Beds were quite small, almost fell off when I was switching sides.

Fabulous hostel - one of the best I’ve stayed in! The location in the Old Town of Plovdiv is perfect & the room decor fits with the old houses that you can visit around. It has a very welcoming feel and the staff were all lovely.

It was booked out for my second night in Plovdiv, no complaints otherwise! :)

The old house has loads of character and feels friendly from the moment you walk in.

For me nothing great down to earth place

Breakfast was a generous plated cold platter with egg, cheese, good quality dried meat, olives, honey, jam, butter, cucumber, tomatoes. Self service white and brown bread with toaster, self service coffee machine from beans. Great! Building is a spectacular, faded, creaky, historic building about 200 years old. Bathrooms were modern and quite nicely tiled. Location is great, in the heart of the old town. Instructions on how to get there were detailed and good. More specific description of WHICH busstop to use in front if the station would be good, as there is now a whole range of bus stops for coach line Karacter right outside the station PLUS the city bus stop on the main road. That's the one where the busses , which were labelled as a7, a20 etc on the electronic infoboard , not 7 and 20, stopped. I thought that meant I was on the wrong side of the road so I trudged under the tunnel to check the stop on the other side before working it all out and trudging back. Some cities have busslines with the same number for route and a letter indicating direction, so getting on a7 when told to get on 7 seemed unwise! I suspect the instructions have not been updated in a while and the newish coach station right in front of the station has added complexity. Friendly attentive young lady on the front desk gave a good welcome, a good briefing on the city and places to visit and eat. Superb homemade lemonade a lovely bonus.

Beds need fitted sheets. In the morning 5/5 people in my room were sleeping on bare mattress with undersized sheets scrunched round them that means the sheets can't do the required job of keeping me clean and the mattress clean. Not acceptable. Ever, but particularly following a pandemic. The beds were massively creaky. Any movement-loud creaks. In a shared bedroom with 5 people this is not OK. I've used many similar hostels without this annoying problem. The bed frames have obviously seen a lot of use and at the occupancy levels you have, even at the low price, it is time to replace them with a design that CANT CREAK! Lounge furniture on 1st floor lounge is not historic masterpiece, it's a totally knackered set of 1970s Draylon and foam armchairs and sofa with sunken supports, massive fraying, filthy. It's well beyond time to replace. It looked OK in the photos but not in person. Perhaps the photos are from 2014. I realise that at 30 leva including breakfast one should not expect perfection, and it was a pleasure to have access to this spectacular building, but the lounge furniture, massively creaky bedframes, and miniscule flat sheets that came off everyone's beds, are simply not acceptable any longer. It would not cost a fortune to replace these. The mattresses were fine except for not being securely covered with sheets

This place is amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful, it is incredibly scenic based in an old mansion, the beds are comfortable, and the location is in the middle of the old city. The shower was really good too!

What an amazing old building! Very central in the old town and very close to the Bohemian quarter. Keeping in mind that this a hostel, not an expensive boutique hotel, it requires a bit of a sense of adventure to stay here. The streets in the old town are paved with findlings, not cobblestones, there are stairs and steps everywhere even in the house, which has essentially been build into the hillside. Personally, I thought, this was a big part of the fun. There is a garden/courtyard, my room was huge. Plenty of (shared) bathrooms. I received very thorough and useful instructions how to get there by public transport by WhatsApp, without even having to ask. Much appreciated.

I don't think the bathrooms are heated, but, as I said: this is a hostel, not a hotel. And in summer, spring or autumn I wouldn't even have noticed (it was January). Also, from what I have heard and read this is normal for budget accommodation in Bulgaria. I would certainly come here again...

The welcome is nice, they really try with this. Its a great location for Kapana and the 'old town' though its a little bit of a walk up the hill. Some reasonable common areas, and the breakfast room was great. You are able to buy a beer or soft drink at all hours on the honour system. Decent budget place to stay and though I had to be a bit eagle-eyed to snag the bathroom on my floor, there are others on other floors.

Lacked a little bit of ambience but maybe thats down to me. Its quite a walk from the train station.

Lovely staff! Great location. Beautiful property. Delicious, served breakfast. Tea, coffee and lemonade available all day. When checking out very early one morning (2am), they left me a sandwich to take with me in lieu of breakfast.

Location and spirit of this place is above all expectations. Personnel is exceptionally friendly. Doubt if one can find more value for money in this beautiful old city.

The bathrooms were not very clean and some had mould. It would be a wonderful hostel, if it would be cleaner.

The Breakfast was very good and staff very helpful . It in the old town which a bonus and the old is a lovely building. Coffee available all good ! And 5 mins bus to get to train station etc ! And the owners wife looked like an Angel ... What a lucky man ..LOL

A man next to me snored like a pig and I was awake most of the night ! I a bit cold and did see any spear blanket s . And stairs creek when anyone went to the toilet . BUT the people were nice who stayed there and the staff were Super !
