We enjoyed the ambiance of this somewhat rundown old red-brick building from 1895. There are 2 balconies where one could sit , also a comfy seating area upstairs with squashy sofas. For those with chilly feet there were hotties available. On foot to the dock area/Salamanca market took 10 minutes, ditto to the tourist info centre. A couple of houses along is "Narryna" , an 1830s merchant's house, now refurnished as if the family still lived there.

The kitchen was a trifle shambolic ... lots of people in and out .. needed full-time supervision to keep it in order. The bag room was actually a pantry , became extremely full when bags were added. No lock.

Place was quiet and clean

Showers had a bit of mould. Only bottom bunks had curtains

I dropped something from my bed and went to look under the bed and it was full of dust and hairballs. all other areas clean and other than that it was great.

Walking distance to the town centre. Value for money.

Make sure you ask not to stay in the private bunk room downstairs - it’s next to the kitchen and there are much nicer rooms upstairs. The one downstairs is in the old reception room and the owner has changed this to a room to squeeze a little more money out of the property. The bathrooms aren’t that clean.

vERY pleasant friendly staff. Bed was comfortable, plenty of hot water. Kitchen facilities were very good, kitchen was open 24 hours, plenty of room to cook. Location at battery Point was excellent, close to city.

I cant think of anything that could have been improved. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their stay.

Excellent position. Beautiful area with lots of historic houses. Facilities excellent. Washing machine and dryer available. Well-stocked kitchen. Friendly host. Quiet.
