This home is an old mansion, oddly laid out, but spacious and nice, though not luxurious (more basic than it looks in the photos). Despite that, the home was clean, with lots of space. The furniture is adequate, but limited. For example, the home sleeps 16 (pay attention to the bed layout in the description), but there is not enough seating for 16 at the table or in the living room unless you bring the dining room chairs into the living room. The "piano room" has chairs for only 2 people so you are limited to the family room. If you want to eat there, there are plenty of plates, etc., but cooking is a challenge as the selection of pots, pans, cooking utensils is very limited. Overall, the home works well for bringing a family together instead of staying in separate hotel rooms or locations, but the house itself is not a destination.

We really appreciated staying together in this large, lovely home while we were here to support our loved one during and after major surgery. Communication with the host(s) was exceptional, and they worked to meet our needs efficiently and quickly. The house is in a quiet neighborhood filled with other stately and lovely houses.
One recommendation would be that the host(s) seriously stress to older guests the number of stairs they may have to climb several times per day. Also, it would be helpful to be able to check in before 5:00 p.m. and check out at 11:00 a.m. or later.

Beautiful home in a beautiful historic neighborhood. Perfect for a family gathering.

A beautiful home for our family while in St Louis for wedding!

Enjoyed house and StL!! 5pm checkin seemed late and there was no early checkin which made it difficult for us. We prefer 3pm checkin because when traveling it’s nice to be able to get settled before evening activities. Our favorite part of this house was the front porch and communal areas. Thanks for a great stay ◡̈

We would highly recommend this property. Loved the dining area, the large table and number of chairs made family dinners and playing games very easy. VERY NICE NEIGHBORHOOD and the parking was awesome. Floors may be a little creaky but that just adds to the historic charm of this beautiful home. Plenty of space to spread out and sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs with a cup of coffee was great.
Hope to visit again soon.

The house was perfect for our needs and ideally located. We attended a wedding on The Hill, reception at St. Louis University, visited the zoo, the Arch, the SLAM art museum, and the Delmar Loop and the Central West End restaurants. The location made this all easy. Thanks!

We were in St. Louis for our son’s wedding and this home was very close to the wedding venue. The home is as advertised with a lot of space and lots of comfy beds. Nice neighborhood. Great for large groups.

We really enjoyed our stay at this great old mansion close to Forest Park. Lovely updates while keeping the charm of the original. Lots of room for our party of 9 and conveniently located. Communication from property manager was fast and accurate. A couple of minor issues were quickly addressed. We'll stay again when we come back to St. Louis.

We had family and friends in town for my daughters bridal shower. It was a beautiful home with lots of space for everyone to sleep and spend time together. The property manager was wonderful to work with.

The house is large and beautiful. The online description is very deceiving. The dining room table only seats 8, the kitchen is not fully equipped ( no serving/mixing bowls, no baking sheets, no dishcloths or towels), the backyard was very overgrown, back deck is in disrepair and dangerous. No tv in kids area. When we arrived I had to fold all of the towels that were left by housekeeping.

Seeing this beautiful property online was perfect for our family of 16 for a reunion for the first time in 5 years. Since some were flying in from Australia we wanted a place where we could all be together and this seemed perfect! Upon checking in at 5:00 we noticed immediately a partially empty water battle on kitchen counter top. Upon further looks, there was broccoli, Oreo cookie, crumbs in the floor in kitchen and dining room, Popcorn and trash in the floor in living room, hair all over floor in bedrooms, washing machine full of wet clothes and dryer running. No bed sheets had been cleaned as well as no clean towels, no toilet paper, dusty everywhere, floorboards nasty, totally unacceptable!! Upon finally, after multiple tries got the house manager who said it just wasn’t finished being cleaned and making excuses . He told us if we stayed he would refund half our money but if we left all of it! By this time it was after 6:00,pm with 16 people and no where to go ! NIGHTMARE!!I stayed up until 2:00 am washing sheets and towels and sweeping up just enough to stay the night!! While this house is beautiful and has so much potential as a rental., the management of it is unacceptable! Not only was the inside filthy but the outside had weeds growing a foot tall on front steps, chairs on front porch broken and back yard completely overgrown. I feel so bad for the neighbors of this property because it is so lacking in care and upkeep! There should be some kind of insurance for the renters on property not maintained or not as described or pictured in ads!😢😭😭

Family get together
Management was so responsive, answered questions quickly throughout the whole process.
House is nice, old so squeaky floors and that sort of thing. Rooms are huge, bathrooms & kitchen very nice. Location worked well for us.

Elegant old home. Beautiful home easy to think of an older era of construction and architecture.
Everything worked as it should, and we had an excellent stay!
4.7
Overall, we had a great stay. The property manager was responsive to our inquiries, so no complaints there. The neighborhood is charming and close to everything we wanted to do. The fridge/freezer were gigantic, which was a huge perk for 16 people. The main dining table was large and comfortably sat 10, so it was nice that most of our people could sit together. There is a small fenced-in yard in the back that the kids used to play yard games that we brought with us.
I would note to people booking the property that you are staying in an old house. There are a lot of modern updates with paint and light fixtures, but realize that the "bones" are old-- the floors and stairs are uneven and creaky, and there are lots of signs of settling in the walls. The floors could be an issue if you have small children or elderly people staying with you, as they could trip and fall, but certainly not a deal-breaker. The doorknobs are old, so there are no locks on the bedrooms/bathrooms, so again, plan accordingly if you have little kids who don't know how to be respectful of personal space. Also be aware that the "kid's bedroom with two rollaway beds" is actually a laundry room with fold-up cots in the closet. We were multiple non-related families needing to separate different ages/genders of kids, so we were just surprised when it didn't meet our expectations. We made it work, but it would have been nice to know that going into it.
In the end, the house worked for our needs and contributed to a great visit to St. Louis. We would stay again if we went back.

Great property and centrally located near major St. Louis attractions. Group included 6 adults and 2 children. Greatly appreciated all of the dishes and cooking utensils as we did a lot of cooking. Multiple irons and ironing boards might seem insignificant, but they are a big deal when you have a number of people all wanting to use them simultaneously. The games were a plus and a TV in the children's room was perfect. The owner's attention to minute details made our trip enjoyable and we would definitely rent this beautiful house again.

Easy place to get to with easy access to many things. They listed it as a 6 bedroom house, but the washer and dryer were in one of the rooms labeled as a bedroom. So only had 5 bedrooms. But still wonderful time staying there and would totally stay there again

Our stay was great! Property manager responded quickly to questions ahead of the trip, check in was super easy, quiet, beautiful location, beds were incredibly comfy with lots of rooms and plenty of beds for 4 families to spread out. Close to everything downtown - less than a 10 min drive to the City Museum, IKEA, Busch Stadium, Forest Park, etc. Understandably, the kitchen is not super well stocked (owners can’t accommodate for every single type of group and need) so this is just a heads up and not a negative comment: if you are planning to cook for larger groups, consider bringing your own larger pots/skillets and storage containers. We had a great, very comfortable stay with 7 adults and 8 kids, which says a lot about the space!
