Definitely one of the amazing places to stay in Transylvania and more than probably the best one so far! Quality of food and creativity of the chef were extraordinary, the service was flawless (Roger is a true spirit of hospitality!) while the setup (rooms, design, attention to details, furniture and materials used) are at highest standards.

Bethlen is such an amazing find. When I was looking at Romania one of the first properties I looked at was Bethlen and it was based on the availability of this property that we booked the entire trip and it really didn't disappoint. The history, the service, the food and the location were simply superb. Understanding the background to the estate and seeing the restoration that has taken place and the attention to detail in the buildings but also in offering a luxury get away in the heart of Transylvania was simply amazing. Irena was so helpful before arriving as well and helped to organise trips to UNESCO heritage sights, truffle hunting and even wine tasting (Romanian wine is excellent!). We even had the pleasure of meeting the Countess which was fascinating.

Whilst the food was superb 4 courses every night from a fixed menu was a lot and as such I would suggest at least having a couple of options and perhaps an alternative for children as they don't always like such rich food and there isn't an alternative restaurant nearby.

- I loved the friendly and welcoming staff, it was a pleasure talking to them and they were so attentive and helpful - breakfast was incredible (local delicacies, as well as delicious choices of warm breakfast) - the room that we had initially booked was amazing (unfortunately, the boiler broke down so we had to switch to another room which was classified as better by the property, but it was in a reconditioned traditional house, so a smaller room with less light, but with an amazing library and lounge area - so, all in all, although we were a bit sad to not have the initial room, it was all good) - the chef prepared an astonishing birthday cake for one of our party (I had announced with due time in advance), but it still was like a piece of art - both beautiful and delicious

- while the concept of the restaurant (fine dining with a set course decided by the chef and changed daily for every meal) is definitely interesting and the food was truly superb, exceptional in every way, it was maybe a bit much for us to have so many courses for each meal every day and on the expensive side. Another simpler option would be welcome for some of the meals. They were really kind to prepare a tray of delicacies for our second dinner there rather than the set menu, especially since we had a kiddo and a pregnant lady with us (picky eaters, couldn't have the menu, but could not go without dinner either). So exceptional hosts all the way!

The property is very well reconstructed and the rooms have a very pleasant feel. The food was very good and the they are doing an excellent job of using local ingredients in order to create a really nice culinary experience.

The houses offered by Bethlen are some of the nicest accommodations in Transylvania and overall. The house is well maintained, modern, spacious, with a washer dryer and heated pool. The hotel organized activities for us ranging from e-biking through the forest to a horse and carriage ride. The food was SPECTACULAR along with the service, especially from Roger.

The grounds of the home, the eating area and the castle are beautiful. The neighboring area is a local town in need of improvement; however, it is very safe and all of its citizens are kind.

booking.com advertised "entire Superior Villa" so we paid in advance a much higher price accordingly; in reality, we got a double room in a simple villa (not the Superior Villa advertised) which we shared with other three couples; staff made us a disproportionate small discount, so disappointment remains unsettled; to conclude, value for money is not satisfactory for this property
