The home itself and its location are five-star without hesitation; however, a few issues kept us from giving a five-star review. First, neither the photos nor the description mentioned the construction around the house, which includes a plywood barrier along the beach and beach path. Literally every photo we took from the 1st and 2nd floors of the beach, sunset, and front of the home had to be edited or taken at an angle to avoid including the plywood fencing. The construction equipment on the side of the house and the trailer parked in the driveway were also unexpected and required us to work around them to park our vehicles, PWC trailer, and golf carts we rented. We would have still given the property five stars if they had updated their description and photos on VRBO, as they said they would, to accurately reflect the property's current state. However, no edits were made to the listing. The second issue we encountered was that the main floor was hot! We had to take the fans from the front deck and bring them inside just to get the temperature below 78°F. Closing the shades during the day made little difference and eliminated the ocean view entirely. Despite a few other small issues here and there, we had a great time. Bring plenty of bug spray for the no-see-ums, and keep in mind that the island has not fully recovered from the hurricane in terms of shops and restaurants. However, what do you really need besides friends, family, Starbucks, and the beach?

We loved our stay, although we were disappointed the dishwasher wasnt working and neither was the icemaker, but we made do. We would recommend this place to our friends and other families.

Very pleased with property. However, primary microwave did not work, primary living space and one bedroom would not cool below 78 degrees during the afternoon and evening. Lower level refrigerator kept failing until we attached it to an extens6 cord to another outlet

Our family of 12 had an amazing week at Dream Home! The house is beautiful with the most impressive sunset views every night. We enjoyed the downstairs game room playing foosball, ping pong and pool, as well as the rooftop and the extra touches like the beach cart and ice machine. It was so convenient and nice to be right on the beach and we saw dolphins, manta rays and manatees. The house is very convenient to the Captiva Island restaurants and stores. We would definitely stay here again!

We have rented houses in Captiva for a few years now and this is our new favorite. The ocean view when you walk into the house is breathtaking. We visited with 2 other families and there was no shortage of games in the house to keep the kids fully occupied. We really love the fact that there is direct beach access from the house where you can keep a close eye on the kids from. The fishing off the beach was not great but could have been the tides or more likely the angler! Saw lots of dolphins swimming by, schools of tarpon on the first day, a manatee or two, and a fever of rays that swam about 10 feet off the beach and temporarily scared the swimmers was quite the experience. To top it off, turtles came up and layed eggs right in front of the house the last night. It's great that the owner has the blackout blinds to not scare the turtles away at night. We would definitely come back to this house again.

This property was more spectacular than appeared in listing. The house is so close to the water and beach that when we needed to get out of the sun we could easily move to the expansive back porch with ample seating. This large open home was perfect for our family group—perfect for group and alone time!
