This was our second stay here, in a lovely house with great space and excellent facilities. We had the same room as before, so it was almost like coming home. our en-suite bathroom had a really good shower and plenty of towels, soaps, etc. As we travelled to Castro one of us had a nasty incident with the bike which meant a visit to hospital and several stitches in the leg. This in turn meant there was a reluctance to cycle for our onward journey. With no train or bus option and an complete dearth of taxis in Castro, we were on the point of “biting the bullet” and mounting the bikes, when the owner offered to drive is on to Santoña! A very welcome offer, which we did accept.

Lovely quiet, peaceful location on the western edge of Castro, just by the bullring. Delightful owners welcomed us with hazelnuts and grapes from the garden, olives and a cold beer. Very comfortable bed in a spacious room with excellent ensuite bathroom. We were given keys to come and go as we pleased, as well as good information about the local area. This included the tip about a natural sea swimming pool which I thoroughly enjoyed using. It's about a half hour walk along the sea front to the main old town where the bar/restaurant options are plentiful. An unexpected bonus was the breakfast offered. Self serve in the huge dining room. Not extensive but a good coffee with cakes and fruit. Highly recommend.

Very nice place some 15 minutes walk from the centre of Castro Urdiales and the harbour. Set in a garden, at the outskirts of the town, with very easy access from the motorway (advantageous for those travelling by car). Formally the place does not serve breakfast but we were surprised (positively!) to learn that we can have free coffee/tee, biscuits and fruits, which are available in the common room. So in fact, it was almost like a proper breakfast. The owner greeted us in the most friendly way. The town itself is very interesting too, with impressive rock coastal scenery, old monumental buildings, picturesque fishing harbour and plenty of restaurants/bar along the waterfront. We are very happy that selected just this place to stay on our way westward.

Very pleasant surroundings, Very quiet and a very pleasant host who had absolutely no English, Maria was a plus for this place though!!

The breakfast was terrible, you had to boil your water for tea in a microwave....no Cereals, or fresh milk not even bread Just terrible sweet cakes.
