We enjoyed a wonderful 10 day stay with our two university-aged children in February. Highlights: -Ma'alaea is centrally located for exploring Maui. A much quieter and more relaxing area than many tourist zones. -Unit is perfectly situated with stunning views and direct ground floor access out onto the lawn and waterfront - absolutely ideal. -We enjoyed great views of whales and sea turtles right out front every day. -Very tastefully decorated with some lovely original Maui art. -Unit is well equipped with complete kitchen, beach-going supplies, snorkelling kits, boogie boards, etc... -Excellent communications with host from start to finish. -We highly recommend this VRBO.

Excellent location. We loved sitting on the Lanai and watching the harbour activity as well as the whales spouting in the distance and the little turtle popping his head up near the shore. The unit was without compare, everything we needed was accommodated. A kitchen a chef would delight cooking in. The linens and beds were 5 star. We appreciated the helpful, reliable information our friendly host John, gave us and his assistance when needed. Thanks so much for helping us create wonderful memories.

We loved our stay here. The location was convenient for getting to different parts of the island. And we loved relaxing on the patio and enjoying the gorgeous view.

This property was amazing. Very quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of Lahaina and Kihei but still close to great restaurants, shopping, and beaches. We enjoyed every morning out on the lanai having coffee and breakfast. We saw more turtles just outside the condo than we did on our snorkeling tour to turtle town. The condo was very clean and spacious for our family of four. Completely updated and renovated. I would recommend this place to anyone. We were very pleased and will return for another stay.

This is not only a rental, it is an experience and the main reason for this is the high level of attention to details by the hosts. Every room is properly furnished and NOTHING is missing. To top it all, John’s genuine passion for offering a great stay percolates throughout the stay. As far as the location, having toured Maui, I never wished being somewhere else. This area is so quiet, feels less touristy and is strategically located on the island. Everything feels close. Property is also very clean with a lot of friendly residents. One of the key highlights of the trip was finishing the day right in front of the condo, by the sea, looking for sea turtles while sipping wine !!! Everyone loved it !

Aside from the amazing location, views and comfy stay… John’s responsiveness and attention to our stay was outstanding. We will never stay anywhere else when we visit Maui.

When we were trying to decide where to stay on the island, quietness was on the top of the list. This location was perfect! It was central to everywhere on the island with a therapeutic vibe. The condo is perfectly decorated and we had everything we needed. Upon arrival we saw fresh bouquet of flowers, Hawaiian chocolate and treats, and a bag of native coffee! We couldn’t have asked for a better stay! Thank you!

John definitely has a phenomenal property! The location and the setting was Heaven on Earth. We woke up daily to the sound of waves crashing on the rocks. Mid-afternoon, we watched the many sea turtles try to sun-bathe on the rocks. Evening, we grilled on the pristine clean grills that are available for all guests. The place was immaculate. John provided us with treats upon our arrival and fresh Hawaiian coffee beans to grind for the best aroma and coffee. The free wifi worked great throughout the grounds. We loved this place! Also, John provided us with their lists of favorite activities and restaurants which we did use. He was very responsive to all of our wishes and needs! Great experience!

If you want peace and quiet with a perfect view from the lanai away from the business of Lahaina this is your spot. The best part is, it is not far from Lahaina, the airport and other points of interest. John has done a wonderful job with this fully stocked condo. John was amazing through the entire process. We loved this condo! The amenities were superb! A beautiful, well stocked kitchen was a delight in which we made meals for the family. The beds were very comfortable. The art is beautiful. A lovely floral arrangement with welcome gifts greeted us upon our arrival! John was very prompt to answer any questions that we had. The information packet that John provided was a wealth of information regarding the condo and the surrounding area. The view was gorgeous! We had breakfast with delicious Maui coffee on the lanai every morning. So relaxing!! Sea turtles every evening and humpback whales in the bay were entertaining to watch! The pool & the grounds were immaculate. We highly recommend this host and this condo!! Can’t wait to return!!

The property was very clean, well stocked with pots, pans, knives, beach towels and all the essentials for your stay. We loved the extra security we had with the motorized shade screen for the lanai. The only suggestion I could have is to provide soft pillows for the guest. We ended purchasing two sets (and left them behind, hopefully for the next guest). The pillows on bed were extremely firm and not comfortable for sleeping. Other than that small suggestion, we really appreciate the experience from the booking process and the great information provided by John to the ease of checkout!!

John is a great host! His check in process is easy and he is detail when needed. He did all the thinking for you while you stay at his place. From coffee brewing instructions to everything a family would need to have a great day at the beach. He is such a gracious host, you will leave feeling like family. Not only were our hosts John and Trish welcoming and incredibly responsive, but they have created THE best condo EVER. They provided A LOT of handy information before arrival and also in the condo itself. We took many of the recommendations for things to do and places to eat. We have stayed in many units in this condo building over the past decades and love its location and amenities, but many of the units are tired and dated. Not this one! This condo unit TOPS them all with its recent renovation and a decorating style that is bright, warm, and inviting — and we loved it! We shared the condo with my sister and her husband — their first trip to Hawaii. The attention to detail shines with hooks, hangers, beach towels, snorkeling equipment, shampoo, sunscreen, plenty of closet space, tour books, hairdryers, first aid supplies. The list goes on and on and on. And the kitchen? Where to begin? Sophisticated coffeemaker with a grinder for beans, espresso machine, spices galore, oils, flour, pans for everything, crock pot, plenty of glasses, beautiful placemats, kitchen towels. You get the idea. And eating on the ground level lana’i? Always! We LOVED being on the ground level so we could walk directly out to the gorgeous lawn area and stroll to the harbor or watch the turtles or take a book out to read in the lounge chairs. And in-unit washer and dryer ensures ease of doing your laundry! I wish there were MORE stars to give the hosts and this condo unit. Five stars just don’t seem like enough! PS. We LOVED the Yale lock on the front door. It made it easy for the 4 of us to have access to the condo without having to worry about a key.

This condo was immaculate! Clean and comfortable for our family. Being on the ground floor, we could step right out into the backyard and enjoy the view. Communication from the owner was fantastic.

John and his family have created a beautiful oasis in between and away from the touristy hubbub north and south on the island. Central and a short drive to everywhere, the property is beautifully updated, high end appliances, and outfitted with everything our family of four, plus my brother and niece needed (we rented both John and his brothers units side by side). The morning sunrises are spectacular and the lanai or lounge chairs on the perfectly manicured lawn, ocean front, made this the perfect location for these sun seeking Canadians! “Mahalo” barely covers it, thank you for the outstanding accommodations and all of the recommendations. John is the definition of a “Superhost.” We’ll be returning as O’hana. A few of our own reccos to add to the list: Isana- local fisherman owned sushi restaurant Leoda’s - best pies on the Island!!! From the moment we arrived to the time that we left, was absolutely flawless, zero issues. The owner had great communication with us the whole time we were there, making sure that everything was going as expected. This condo is very impressive!! You will not be disappointed. Newly remodeled and immaculate! We would definitely book this condo again!!

This condo was just as the photos showed! Perfect for our family of four. Location was great and a short, but gorgeous 15 min drive both to Lahaina and Kihei. The grounds of the property were nicely kept and you have a beautiful ocean front view from the patio. Having this little slice of paradise to start your Maui mornings and end your Maui days was amazing! Close enough to the busy towns & beaches, but far enough away you feel the calmness and the relaxation of a true vacation! Would love to stay at John’s property again, he was a great host and always responded in a timely manner.

I can’t say enough positive things about this property. I have stayed in a lot of VRBO’s and this was by far the best experience. John is a great host and was very helpful and responded quickly to any needs. Sitting on the Lanai every morning and night watching the sunrise or sunset and welcoming the Sea Turtles was an absolute joy. Easy access to Kihei and other parts of Maui for many restaurants, beaches and activities. We usually ended up coming back this condo as fast as possible after a busy day just to once again enjoy the tranquility, beautiful view and wonderful sound of the waves crashing literally at your back door. The condo was fully equipped with everything you need for cooking and also for the beach visits. Thank you again John and Trish for a wonderful stay and helping honor our Mom. This is a very nice condo, exactly as described. The owners are excellent hosts. They offered great suggestions on things to do, which we appreciated since this was our first trip to Hawaii.

This was our 5th trip to Maui and this was by far the best condo experience we have ever had. The property was exactly as advertised. Amazing location. Literally steps from the water out the patio door. The remodel was better than the pictures. Immaculately clean. Great kitchen with every imaginable kitchen utensil available for your use. To top it all off... The communication with John (the owner) was incredible! From prior to our stay, to during our stay, to follow-up after he was absolutely great. If you are looking to have a relaxing true Hawaiian experience, stay outside the tourist hustle, but still be close to everything... This is the place for you! You will not find a better condo experience!! Book it!!!

Easy to get to, great location, ground floor unit, newly remodeled. 🤙

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Maalaea Kai (two teenage boys). This condo was perfect and had everything we needed and then some. The views are absolutely breathtaking and greeted us every morning…. about 8 steps to your ocean front lawn chair! Loved seeing the sea turtles on a daily basis. We particularly appreciated the interior design elements that truly separated this unit from other more dated ones. Beds/linens very comfortable, kitchen fully stocked, beach chairs, boogie boards, easy in, easy out - they thought of everything and we felt right at home. We spent most of our time at various different beaches and found this location perfectly situated in between Kaanapali and Wailea. We valued the privacy and tranquility of this resort, away from the more tourist filled areas, which we too visited. John provided a wonderful list of suggested restaurants, sights, beaches and activities and we likely checked off 75% of them- great recommendations! Overall- we would confidently recommend this beautiful spot and hope you too can make lasting memories like we did.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The condo itself is beautiful, clean and very comfortable. The kids loved sleeping in the bunkbeds. The view is unbeatable and it was pretty quiet for the most part. It felt like we had the beachfront all to ourself. The owner was so welcoming and readily available for anything we needed. We would definitely come back here!

Words cannot describe how amazing this property is, but I’ll do my best- The condo is beautifully decorated with a classy beach vibe. The owners also have everything you may possibly need to make your stay superb. I especially appreciated the first aid kit, nice glassware, beach chairs, snorkeling gear & being on ground level! No waiting for an elevator or climbing stairs with all your beach gear! John was always available via text & responded promptly to any questions we had! LOVE this place! 5 stars for certain!

This property is everything the owner conveys in his listing and more. And he was always available to ask questions and give recommendations for our stay. It's beautiful and spacious the perfect size for our family of four. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The shared grill space on the condo property is perfect for a dinner night in with your family. The pool was refreshing and perfect for a day spent in the sun. The harbor area is within reach of everywhere on Maui and really suited us. We saw everything we wanted to see on the island and were able to spend a couple of days relaxing at this fantastic condo which was perfect for us. We absolutely loved Maalaea and John's condo.

We’re hesitant to speak so highly of this place for fear that others catch on! We’ve stayed in Maalaea a handful of times in the past, but none of the properties compare! Clean, fresh, well-appointed, and comfortable. A great coffee setup, a solidly stocked kitchen, and some convenient tech help make this a perfect home base for exploring all the Maui offers, or simply sitting oceanside, watching the turtles in the lazy glow of sunset. We’ll most certainly stay again!

We cannot say enough great things about this condo! It was myself, my husband, my 20-year-old son and my 15-year-old daughter. The property is absolutely gorgeous, extremely clean, the kitchen has everything you need, and the location is unbeatable! It is right in the middle of the island and close to anything you want to do. I think the best part about this property is the view. It is right on the ocean! You can hear the waves crashing as you drift off to sleep. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the lounge chairs right off of our lanai every single morning with a cup of coffee brewed in the amazing espresso machine, watching the sea turtles, the surfers, and the waves crash over the rocks of the ocean. This is a must stay place. We can’t wait to come back. John was an amazing host!

The property was really comfortable, it had everything we needed for the week, we loved all of the beach supplies included. We did have to look around to find them, but once we did, we were good. My only criticism is the number of bath towels provided, with only 4, I had to wash them a few times during the week. I would stay in this property again. Also, it was great to walk outside and see the turtles everyday- this was one of the highlights of our trip!
