We cannot imagine a more perfect location and gorgeous house on Ocracoke! The house is new and an architectural delight, and is beautifully appointed with all of the amenities one could want. This includes really comfortable seating / lounging on the multiple decks as well as inside. It is located directly overlooking the sound for an unbelievable view from sunrise to sunset. We were lucky to have some good weather in our early Spring visit, but not unexpectedly some rain and high winds as well, and on those days it was a delight to watch and enjoy the turbulent water from the main living area. The immediate area is quiet, but it's a short walk into town for shops and restaurants. Ocracoke itself is a wonderful oasis of miles and miles of pristine beaches and natural areas surrounding a lovely town with great food and distractions. This was our first visit to Ocracoke, but certainly won't be our last, and same for The Tide is Turning!

This house is absolutely beautiful inside and out! The decor, layout and views take your breath away. You are off the beaten path but so close to all your needs. We not once drove our own vehicles while we were on the island. The lookout on top of the house is the best piece of the house during sunsets. Kathy we very responsive to any questions asked and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely share this property with all who wants to listen!

Let me start by saying that Kathy went above and beyond our expectations in ensuring our stay was perfect. And it was. The house was stunning. We enjoyed the views and the beautiful decorations. Our time there was very windy so many outside activities weren’t possible. We didn’t care because we enjoyed staying in and playing cards and just relaxing. What a wonderful space to have some family time. The furniture and beds were all very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped for preparing our meals. The location was perfect. Easily walkable to shops and restaurants. Zillies was nice and close for a glass of wine although nothing beat having drinks at the house with the gorgeous views of the sound. We rented a golf cart from ocracoke island golf cart just at the end of the street. Convenient and great customer service. This house fit our crew nicely. Our two teenage sons each brought a friend. Everyone had their own bed and was comfortable.

We had a wonderful time! The location was perfect, and the home was beautiful. Our family loved the kayaks and watching sunsets on the roof deck.

This is a stunning home on a quiet street, comfy beds and furniture, and very helpful host. The cargo lift is genius! We enjoyed watching the sunrises and sunsets from the rooftop patio each day. Visited in the off season when most things were closed but the Variety Store and the well equipped kitchen served us well. We highly recommend this property and hope to return again.

An absolute beautiful, unique house. We normally only stay in one particular house. This trip we wanted to try a different house and it was an absolutely perfect home and location. Kathy was great to work with. Definitely will be booking again.

Our stay was absolutely amazing! This place is a real gem. The rooftop deck was our favorite and the views of the Pamlico Sound and Ocracoke Village is breathtaking. Being beachfront and having access to kayaks on the Sound was a huge plus. The cargo lift made everything super convenient. The house itself is full of unique details, like stained glass windows and a beautiful granite countertop in the kitchen. The new furniture was comfy and added to the cozy atmosphere. The layout was perfect. We loved the screened porch on the first floor, and the open living room and kitchen on the second floor. The third floor suite was incredible! In a nutshell, this vacation home made our Ocracoke Island trip unforgettable. The views, the beach access, and the comfortable setting were all fantastic. We'll cherish these memories forever!

We loved the location and the property. The cargo elevator was wonderful for moving suitcases to the floors.

I've stayed at many vrbo homes and this one was one of the best. Kathy was very open and helpful with her communications with us. The home was beautiful, comfortable and well supplied. We were stuck on the island because of Tropical storm Ophelia and she enabled us to stay another night so we could catch a ferry off the island the next day. We plan to come back next year. Hopefully with no major storms.

Our week at the house was amazing. We felt like royalty every time we went out on the balcony and looked down at the cove. And the stars at night...... the view from the rooftop deck is worth the price of the rental alone! The Tide Is Turning is hands down the best house for rent on the island. The Tide is Turning is a spectacular home in a stunning setting. Attention to details exists throughout this home. We enjoyed having multiple decks-- all with amazing views-- to spread out; room for readers, my crawling granddaughter; my son-in-law working some. Perfect. But the single most incredible aspect is the roof top deck, complete with seating and a table. Sunsets are wonderful, but we also had a heat lightening show (in the distance) complete with shooting stars (yes, more than one) that left us knowing we'd had a unique and special experience.

Loved the home and the location! Owner is very responsive and attentive. Would absolutely stay here again!

The Tide is Turning is just lovely, with all you need for a wonderful week on the island. Rooftop views for sunsets, the sound right out the back door, quiet neighborhood, and lovely inside, with enough space to gather as well as places to read a book by yourself. The kitchen is well-equipped. The owners ensured we enjoyed our stay.

We've been staying on North Pond for many years. We decided to try this house out and were so glad we did! Very cool interior, not your typical beach house. The kitchen is great with high end fixtures and easy to cook in. Cargo Lift was a big plus, the ease of loading and unloading was incredible. The roof top deck is incredible, great view of the entire sound. We are definitely returning next year!

We really enjoyed “The Tide is Turning “. The home is lovely with many special touches. We really enjoy the view of North Pond. We had windy weather, but riding the golf cart or bikes into town was pleasant. Since we spent more time inside than usual, we really enjoyed the lovely interior decorations and view. Kathy was very helpful with keeping us informed about the changes to the ferry schedule and arranged for us to be able to stay a day longer when the ferry schedule was affected. Highly recommend!

If the fact that I have already booked this home again is not enough testimony then I will provide a little more. I loved this house! We all felt at home and relaxed. New beautiful comfortable home with magnificent view of Pamlico Sound. Close to shops and restaurants. Private and tranquil, has everything you will need open floor plan with great finishes and wonderful decor— stained glass and multiple decks.

I stayed at this little cove 50 years ago as teenager and swam, sailed and clammed here. The owners, Kathy and Bob, have preserved the feel of those times in their lovely home, overlooking the sound and soaking in the silent laughter of the splashing sea. The home is immaculately designed with every feature cleverly conceived and positioned to offer Ocracoke's sounds, smells and views. It was so comfortable, relaxing and rewarding, we didn't want to leave during the day. The home is stocked exceptionally well and Kathy and Bob responded immediately and helpfully to any question we had. The VRBO ranking system does not provide sufficient metrics to adequately praise this home and its owners.

Kathy and Bob your home is so warm and inviting. You have a wonderful attention to detail which is appreciated. We got married on Saturday and the weather was great. We had a champagne toast from the deck to start the celebration before heading to the Flying Melon for our wedding dinner which was fantastic. We watched many fabulous sunsets from your rooftop deck. Coffee on deck to watch sunrises. The kayaks were used to paddle to Silver Lake and back (1 hour total), very fun. It was so perfect we didn't want to leave. We can't wait to come back!!!

This was without a doubt my favorite property I have stayed in in more then 32 years of renting. Every single detail is well thought out and astounding. I noticed something new and special every day. The details are incredible. You won’t be sorry renting here. The pictures do not do it justice even though they are fabulous. They hosts are great and super friendly. Been coming to Ocracoke for over 30 years…this brand new home transported us-felt like bald Head Island. It’s rare to be on the water in Ocracoke and ever rarer to AU e you own little beach. House is exciting to discover, location can’t be beat. You will love this place. The master suite is incredible, bunk room made the youngins super happy. Two other small but cozy rooms on bottom floor. Great kitchen!!! Special house.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about our time here. The home was thoughtfully designed with water views from every room. Great little sandy beach in the back for fishing and kayaking, extremely clean, and well stocked. We can’t wait to get back!

I’m a property owner on Ocracoke so I already know how special the Island is…abundant nature, history, friendly people, escape from it all, and the house is as special as the Island. Everything was outstanding, the house is in a great location, is beautifully furnished, has awesome views and plenty of space to gather as well as to be alone. The owner responded immediately to questions and made us feel very welcome. I can’t think of anything more we could have wanted other than a few more days to enjoy it!

Fabulous property right on the water! With great views and plenty of space for extended family in town for a wedding at Berkley Manor. Very clean-modern kitchen for entertaining friends and family. We really enjoyed our stay!
