Room - we booked a 4 person family room, with B&B, but were upgraded to a 2 bed apt. It was spotless! All basic essentials were provided in the kitchen, beds were firm but comfortable and basic toiletries such as shower gel were provided along with clean towels and loo roll in the bathroom. View - We had a small juliet style balcony but other rooms had larger balconies to sit out on, so request this if it's something you particularly want. We looked out across the valley, gardens and orange groves to the rear of the hotel, while the door to our room brought us out to the front of the property, directly in front of which is the village square. This is a hive of activity in the mornings with all the locals meeting up for coffee and chat. Directly opposite are the natural spring water fountains. Plenty of bar/restaurants within a 1 or 2 min walk (seasonal opening), a small supermarket, deli & post office. Market day is Saturday. Note, the market space is used for public parking (free) on other days and there's a small children's play park too. Alcaucin is a traditional rural Spanish mountain village. Breakfast - This was buffet style with hot and cold continental foods. Guests could help themselves to 6 different cereals, yoghurt and dried fruits. The host then served the coffee, tea, milk and fruit juice (Cola Cao drinking chocolate too). There was a platter of fresh fruit, a basket of warm crusty bread rolls, butter, jam and marmalade, a platter of cold continental meats (2 types) and cheese, then a hot option (one day cheese and ham brioche toasties, one day mini burgers). More than enough to set you up for the day. Host - Alfonso was really lovely, friendly and welcoming. He has plenty of local knowledge and was happy to help with any questions we had/information we needed.

We stayed here for 3 nights in this lovely rural hotel. The manager/owner works very hard to provide a comfortable, clean, and spacious well run hotel. The room was very large with a lovely balcony with mountain view and even had a kitchenette. The breakfast was freshly prepared, superb and generous. We would gladly stay here again.

A nice countryside hotel in the village of Alcaucin. The room had a beautiful view. It was otherwise rather simple, but fairly clean and with all the basic amenities I needed. Very friendly staff at the reception!

Based on what I have seen scattered on the floor, I assume the cleaning lady has dark hair

Lovely hotel in the middle of town, with amazing views and a great staff.

The shower could have been a bit bigger, but was nice and warm (the most important thing).

We’ve stayed at this hotel several times now and have absolutely no complaints. A quiet tranquil location with beautiful views and amazing sunsets. Right in the centre of the village and amenities. The owners and staff are very welcoming and helpful, we are already looking forward to returning as soon as we can.

The view from the hotel was superb and location suited our needs. Breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit. Proprietors went out of their way to be helpful and solve a problem we had. Would certainly not hesitate to stay here again.

We didn’t have breakfast, we had family in a villa nearby, the owner is really friendly and helpful despite our so so Spanish!

The shower floor was very slippery and no grab rail. Information leaflet says towels changed every two days, ours were changed at the end of our first week! We didn’t mind that.
