Couple of policies that shocked me a bit were filling in "again" a form asking for passport number and nationality while our passports were copied and the information were right there. They asked for credit card recording even room charges has been thru' hotels.com and when I questions they didn't explain well for sure in English and there is not even mini-bar in room. Other than that their 30th floor breakast location was stunningly good and varieties were great. Generally, staffs were polite and nice. Shuttle bus arrangements between both busiest Kobe stations were great and convenient thru' out the day. However, not much to explore in the area, except IKEA ... :-)

Quite an old hotel but all other things are good. If you don't drive, it can be a distance to other places although it is directly linked to a subway station. Friendly staff and overall, I'll stay again for the competitive price it is offering..

Overall it is good place to stay. Our room is bigger than any hotel near city. Simply connection to Kobe airport. The place is not easy place to visit if you are driving. We do not see any clear parking instructions. We just drive to drop off our luggage but we paid at the car park at last.
We would like to swim that is why we choose this hotel and we did not expect that we need register before we reach the pool.

Had an amazing stay at Portopia hotel. Stayed on the executive floor. Breakfast was so convenient and not crowded. Room had an amazing view and was very comfortable. Easy access to the Portliner train. Great customer service. Would definitely stay again.

hotel staff advise that they do not offer spa/public bath, not as per Wotif description; what a disappointment after get there at 32 degree Celsius.
Indoor swimming pool is also under maintenance and outdoor pool requires 3300yen for each person.

Would recommend. Location is close enough to Sannomiya and the shuttle bus is great. Rooms are clean and cosy, but the mattress is really hard.

The breakfast is the best part of the stay. South building is quite far away from the main building where is for checking in and dropping off

This hotel was a huge disappointment for my family and I, although it looks modern, the rooms are old and the bathrooms are moldy, the hotel is located in an area that has a lot of manufacturers therefore there is a lot of contamination, the service was terrible and staff was rude, while I was there I noticed that there were not many American tourists, mostly Asian tourists, although the hotel claims they have plenty of restaurants they are are not for foreigners, only for Asians, but that is something I noticed in other cities in Japan as well, Japanese people are not very welcoming to tourists.

We loved the Portopia Hotel. It felt very resort- like, with great amenities. We actually chose it because of the outdoor pool, and even though we had to pay an additional fee to use the pool, it was worth it, as it was never crowded and was super clean and well staffed. We actually felt a fee kept numbers down which was good.
We also loved the breakfast buffet - the best of our whole trip. And the view - 30th floor buffet, just beautiful.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, from front desk to housekeeping. We particularly loved the housekeeping team who greeted us every day!
And location, while away from down town, the free and regular shuttle was fantastic, quick and regular. We highly recommend this hotel and if we are in Kobe again will definitely stay here again. Thanks Portopia!

Our stay at portopia hotel was great, however we booked the hotel because it advertised that they have a gym, pool and laundry. Once we arrived, we were told all the amenities are an extra charge per day. Laundry was by item so if we were to do our laundry it would cost 100s of dollars. The restaurants in the hotel look really great, but are expensive and open late, close during the middle of the day, and close early at night. There are not really any other restaurants in the area.

Considering it is an international hotel, it was a quiet and comfortable place to stay. The guest room I stayed was spacious, comparing to those in business hotels. The fixtures were slightly outdated for today’s standard, but there was no problem of using them. I was glad to find a convenience store that was open till late. It is located with easy access to Kobe Airport and Kobe Sannomiya Stations.

Very nice hotel, with very friendly staff. Speaks English well too. Room is clean and sufficient room for 2 persons to move around. Would be nice if the aricon is quieter and the pillow fluffier 😁

Affordable dining options are limited on the island. You have to drive to Sannomiya to find more options. Room cleaning is mediocre and doesn’t always take out the trash or provide a water bottle.

A little far away from the city center but with good connection though subway and free shuttle bus every 30min. It is good if you want to relax and disconnect from the big and crowded Japanese cities. We loved Kobe for that reason. Lovely city

During our stay in Japan, transportation wasn't readily available, making it fortunate that a train station was within a five-minute walking distance. The staff exhibited exceptional kindness, and the room was of superb quality!

All staffs are there to stand ready to answer any of your inquiry. Free shuttle service to and fro from nearest train station(Sannomiya and shin Kobe).
