Charming and spacious accommodations in beautiful Appenzell. The deluxe triple room provided ample space for our family of three and allowed great views of the town. The staff were very helpful, offering us tips about local restaurants and attractions.

We loved the hotel, we had a wonderful stay. The rooms were extremely clean and the staff was very nice. There were many shops and restaurants in walking distance.

Beautiful hotel. Great location. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The desk hostess was lovely and welcoming.

Very friendly staff, rooms were very large and modern. Breakfast had a nice selection of local cheeses! Useful tip, minibar is in the hallway (honor system). One thing to know for very light sleepers, church bells ring all night in Appenzell (and church is across the street :). Overall excellent and will stay there again!

The hotel was very clean and had nicely updated rooms. Breakfast was yummy and coffee was delicious. Appenzell is very small and so this hotel is well situated to all amenities- train station, restaurants, tourist office. We arrived on a Saturday and, to our surprise, a lot was closed in town. However, we wanted to hike up Ebenalp so decided we’d check into the hotel quickly and be on our way. When we booked Hotel Hecht online, it said check-in started at 7am.We specifically looked for a hotel that had either early check-in or luggage storage because we were coming straight from the airport that morning. When we arrived around 10am we were told check in wasn’t until 3 Pm. When I showed them the booking they said there weren’t any rooms ready (which was unfortunate, but I understand) but that we could leave our luggage in a room by the main entrance. This room was not locked and the door was wide open, despite another couple storing their luggage in there. We weren’t comfortable leaving it unlocked, especially since the front desk isn’t always staffed, so, reluctantly, we took our backpacks to Ebenalp with us on a hike. The hike was pretty strenuous and the luggage made the trek even more difficult. Unfortunately, I ended up with a knee strain because of the downhill hike with the backpack. We didn’t want to waste a whole day to check in at 3PM, but my injury has really put a damper on the latter parts of our trip

Very helpful receptionist. We showed up after hours and our keys were wait for us at the counter. The receptionist even came to great us (even tho it was after hours) and was very helpful providing information about the local area. Room was clean and comfortable!

Great room, comfortable bed and wonderful breakfast! I loved the soft boiled eggs, perfectly cooked and present with a hand-knitted cap. The staff was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

General manager very accommodative, flew all night she allowed an early check-in put us in room away from the bells. Shower was great. Although didn't have a restaurant for dinner they had a sister hotel not far away with great food. Hecht gave us drink voucher for free drink to encourage us to go there. It was worth it. Good parking nearby. Very nice people wouldn't hesitate in staying there again.

As others have said, the church bells are loud and ring often--every 15 minutes, in fact. I even counted about 130 rings at 6:30 a.m. While this is no fault of the hotel, if you are a light sleeper you may want to choose a hotel farther from the church.

Location of this hotel to the Bernina Express/Glacier Express train station is super convenient. Hotel is located on edge of old town and rooms were clean and quiet, even though you face the streets in some rooms. Check-in/Check-out was convenient and breakfast that is included is one of the best we enjoyed on our 16 days in Switzerland

We stayed here 3 nights and loved the room which had its own huge top level patio/balcony (room 460). Beds were comfortable with a very nice size new TV. Bathroom was large and updated and the breakfast had a daily good variety of items with fresh eggs to order available in the shell. Location very close to public parking which is a bit annoying to have to feed a meter each day from 8 am to 8 pm. The rooms do not have their own fridge but they do have a community mini bar where you can take cold drinks including beer for 4 CH on the honor system. Staff were extremely helpful and got us buckets of ice several times per day as they do not have an ice machine available directly to guests. The only real negative was that their really is no air conditioning, certainly the guest can change. As it was in the 80s during our stay, the room was hot and they do not have any fans in the room or available for use. I realize they probably dont need air conditioning often, but it would have made a big difference in the comfort for our trip. Overall loved the hotel.

This was a last minute booking and it ended up being one of the best places we stayed in during our entire trip. Very spacious room and friendly staff in "traditional" Switzerland. The church next door began ringing its bells aggressively at 8 AM but when in .....
