Great location

We were in Grand Marais for the Fisherman's Picnic weekend which was a lot of fun. Our stay at East Bay Suites was for the most part good with one exception....our room did not have a working AC unit. They knew this when we checked in and they failed to tell us that. It is worth noting that it was over 90 degrees the day we checked in. Needless to say, our two nights were not very comfortable. When we told the staff about this issue (the AC unit also would kick on- even when it was off- which made one hell of a loud grinding noise which was particularly unpleasant in the middle of the night), they told us they knew about the issue and further, that the unit was unrepairable. To their credit, they did discount the room but not nearly enough to make up for not telling us about it in the first place. It was a bush-league move on their part and likely one they thought they could get away with because every hotel for miles was sold out. Unfortunately, it was blistering hot so it didn't work out so well. Otherwise, it is a nice place to stay but surprisingly light on some amenities- no ice machines except down in the lobby and you can't help yourself; staff has to get it for you. No breakfast or area to buy toiletries or other things you might want. On the flip side, you can get access to bikes, materials to build fires on the beach, DVDs, etc. so they do help you with some nice things like that. Also, a nice little kitchen if you want to cook for yourself

It is always a pleasure to stay at East Bay. It is alwalys neat and clean. Staff are wonderful. Beautiful views of Lake Superior, a nice stone beach, while also being within walking distance to shops and restaurants. A lot of extras such as popcorn, movies, games, fixings for s'mores are available to guests. Highly recommend!

I would never use a 3rd party to book again!! I missed out on their discounts and had to call the place to verify a few things. Call East Bay Suites direct and book!!!!

We had a suite with a lake view. I loved sitting on the balcony enjoying Lake Superior. Having our own living area and kitchen was much appreciated. The place was quiet and peaceful. The hotel is placed right in Grand Marais within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Such a wonderful view of Lake Superior. Very convenient location to restaurants and nature. Walked the beach and drove the Gunflint Trail. All employees we talked to were wonderful!

Steps away from Lake Superior

Beautiful suite, beautiful view, fantastic experience! We love our time here relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.

The property was clean and basic. Close to water and amenities but overpriced for the very small room.

Our room was quite big, very cozy, with everything we needed. Beautiful view of Lake Superior...right out the back door to our room. This hotel is close to everything in town. You are steps away from restaurants, shopping, galleries, the marina, Artists point, etc.

I liked that it was right in town and on the water

The accommodations were perfect for our annual girl's weekend. View was AMAZING and the walk along the beach was stunning. Staff was all friendly.

A lovely hotel with beautiful comfortable suites. Front desk is super helpful, there's coffee and popcorn and tea complimentary, and it's right on the lake. Very easy to walk to restaurants and shops too! It's where I'll stay any time I'm in Grand Marais.

This hotel is right on the lake, the view was amazing with places to sit. It would be a wonderful place to stay for a reunion or multiple family vacation.

We have stayed at East Bay Suites many times through the years, and it is such a LOVELY spot - location, location, location - steps from the water. It is beautiful in every season. This time we enjoyed a 2-BR condo on the main floor (102), and it was great, as always. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Everything about the stay was great. Friendly check-in. Beautiful well designed and decorated large suite. Great view of the lake! The quietest hotel I have ever stayed in! Full kitchen and large bathroom. Very comfortable firm king bed with lots of pillows. Gas fireplace. Can't wait to come back.

This property is located right on the shore of Lake Superior. While the location is wonderful the room we were given was terrible. The windows were so high we could only see out of them when standing and there was no place to sit in the room in comfort. We were told because we only reserved one night we received s substandard room, infact, they said it was the ONLY room like this at the property. We were never told they give preference to customers who reserve three or more nights. We were they during their low season, very few people at the property. We felt like we were treated in a poor fashion and will never stay at this property again, even though we are frequent visitors to Grand Marais. They should think about how they treat customers who may be passing through and want to revisit. We will tell many people about the terrible experience we had here.

Loved this place! It's so cozy and has a beautiful view! I loved how walkable it is to everything. It was so nice to have a full kitchen & washer & dryer too!
