The setting of the hotel is beautiful and the rooms were well appointed. The food was excellent both breakfast and dinner. Important that you use the correct post code in your sat Nav (not necessarily the one found online) as we used the wrong one and ended up on the wrong side of the river meaning a very lengthy detour (along narrow country roads) to access the hotel.

Food was good - both breakfast and bar meals. Where things could have improved was at check out - e.g. thanking us for our stay, asking if we’d stay again. Other guests seemed to be asked these things so inconsistent.

The property is in an excellent position, the standard of accommodation is first rate .The staff are friendly and courteous the food was gourmet standard and overall was an excellent base for my motorcycle touring.

Beautiful location,evening meals very good.The room was cozy,however the kettle needed replacing as in quite a poor state.Bathroom clean but as shower over bath no slip mat also no grab rails around bath.Found bathing difficult because of this.Felt bathroom could have done with some TLC.seemed very tired.

This was an exceptional stay. Everything is done very well indeed with superb attention to detail. The room was very well appointed and the first that I have stayed in to include a gun safe, not that I needed it. There was also a DVD player and a very good selection of hot drinks plus a 'fridge with still and sparkling mineral water. Service was at all times very attentive to the point of being anticipative. The breakfast choice was really good and everything that I had was cooked brilliantly, with nice use of local products. Evening meals were a real joy with. Good examples were the carrot and coriander soup and the roasted tomato soup which the chef made in a quite exceptional way. Also the sorbets but all of the dishes were excellent.

I stay in many hotels - and this was one of my favourite! A very old, quirky inn - rustic but beautifully finished. The best thing for me was the ingredients / food... every element was exceptional - the best, (where possible local) honey, coffee, steak, salmon, bread, the most perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. And all served with a smile. It is not the "poshest" place ever - more of a simple Inn but beautifully done - it is the most charming and I will travel back to be here again.

Weekend away with my wife. Wanted to be in the middle of Exmoor and the location certainly met that requirement. Spotlessly clean, but more than a little dated. If you like very soft beds then great. We dont. The owner/ manager (?) did not make us feel entirely welcome. We did enjoy our stay, but would not return.

Lovely room, (a bit cold when we arrived but soon warmed up). Nice staff. Outstanding food- dinner was spectacular.

The staff are without doubt the best we have ever encountered , everyone was very helpful and when asked a question they were able to answer without having to go and find out .( A credit to them and the owners of Tarr Farm Inn ) .The food is excellent offering a good variety of freshley cooked locally sourced ingredients , their own Bitter is a pint worth trying .This was our first visit to Tarr Farm Inn and it will certainly not be our last .

Perfect only few mistakes away from a star

Great location and very comfortable and well equipped rooms. Not impressed with dinner and even less impressed with the reaction to feedback on this.

Series of unpleasant things made us cut our stay short..manure smell strong,on arrival, noisy bathroom fan, noisy equipment outside our room, food just ok. It was also far from anything but.if you are just interested in a basic place and hiking, this might be for you.
