Booked online , upon arrival the receptionist was less than impressed that we did this and told us that our room would be the closest to the road , not a drama as we had saved $100 on the walk in price ! The room was tidy and the bed was great , the toilet door was hanging by one slider and was impossible to close and traffic noise was tolerable, just ! Not the worst stay however next time in Gisbourne we will be staying elsewhere

Warm and comfortable. Noisey close to truck bypass. Electrical faults … toaster blew a switch every time used. Hot points by bed non functional.

The shower was over the bath and there was no safety rail for getting in and out. Elderly people and children could easily slip and hurt themselves.

A few very minor things did not work (like a light over the sink) but we notified the property as we left to ensure they are repaired for the next guest

The Captain Cook motel looks impressive on the outside, but the inside of my (budget) unit was anything but... The room was sparsely furnished . A shelf on the wall was the desk, a little foldaway table, something that looked like a broom cupboard was the wardrobe, and a microwave oven was the only cooking facility. The bed was comfy though. The room was not worth what I paid for it !

Stayed for a few nights and no complaints. Great location so City centre and beach were in walking distance. Only minor issue and this is no fault of the property is that it’s on the main highway so trucks rumbling past are notable.

Even though the room was basic in it's appearance there was in my opinion a high standard of cleanliness. I would book a room in this motel again. We were comfortable and I must add that when I stay in motel or hotel rooms cleanliness is one of the first things I look for when I arrive. There was no disturbance from other motel guests during the night. We were able to sleep peacefully.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to everyone. The staff are warm and welcoming and the cleaners are fantastic at their job. Whenever we had the door open, we were acknowledged by the staff or other guests walking past. The room was perfect, lots of space, smelt clean, was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Shops were a stones throw away, we didnt need a hire car or taxi to get around. We will most definitely be back, it felt like home! Thank you to the wonderful staff at this motel, we couldn't be happier with our stay.

I really appreciate the staff and service here. Originally I was going to stay from Thu 21st Dec 23 to Sun 24th Dec 23 for a family reunion on the east coast. This has been planned for 3 years but changed due to Covid. Anway dates settled, Marae booked for overseas people, motel etc has been set for past 6 months.
2 days before the start of the reunion a death happened which took precedence on the Marae. Spanner in the works and dates needed to slide by 24 hours. This motel did this without question. Fantastic.
