Nice staff but the room is really worn out and old fashioned. Has a really stupidly designed washroom, why on earth is the shower seperated from the room through a slightly blurry glass wall? It makes no sense.

The Holiday Inn Express Tianjin Heping is located in downtown Tianjin. You can easily walk to the main shopping road (about 600 meters) and you have a subway line right in the building (about 50 meters). The hotel is a standard Holiday Inn, with the standard rooms and the standard breakfast. The breakfast is included and consists of Chinese and Western breakfast, which is very convenient. The rooms are pretty big and the bathroom as well. The hotel could need some renovation at some places but overall it's in a good condition. The price is very good especially for the location. Other hotels in downtown Tianjin are much more expensive. The staff is nice and tries to be as helpful as possible, but the communication in English can be difficult at some points. But if the staff doesn't understand English, they try to use translation programs and you can always find a solution. The room service is done by robots so there is no need to complain about that in any kind of way. The room cleaning was done very thoughtfully. Overall the hotel is really good according to the price and location.

I had been loyal IHG customer for a while. This is the most disappointed stay I had. Obviously the room was not cleaned properly and the carpet smelled bad and dirty. This is not acceptable at this price. You could either pay more to a higher star hotel for a better service or pay less to a budget hotel to save money. The service level is similar to budget hotels.

Wonderful room with light display outside. Great location for finding food if you’re a little adventurous. Only issue was our room was 85degrees and no ac as it was now officially “winter” and the ac was turned off! Staff did what they could, brought us a bucket of ice. Fantastic breakfast, catering to all tastes

Good stay overall. Very convenient location being next door to the subway station and down the road from a big shopping district and main road. Close to the bus that takes you to all the major sites including Ancient culture street and the Tianjin Eye. Not much English but the team is still happy to help.

Good location，bus station and metro is very closed, just few minutes by walking. Breakfast is okay for this price.
I booked two room with two single bed, but reception told their record is for two room with one twin bed...finally I got one room with two beds and one room with a twin bed...this is only upset on this hotel

Excellent location, right in the city centre area. The staff are friendly. Room is spacious with a large comfort bed. The buffet breakfast was mainly Chinese food. Not great choice but for the prices I paid, it was definitely worth it

Reception at check in was not friendly at all. The reservation was for double bed, we mentioned it during check-in, and when we arrived at the room, it hat 2 single beds. Was a hastle to change the room.

This is our second time staying st this great hotel. We found everything to be amazing from the staff, the food and the location.

The room was clean, but the air conditioning seemed not work well. Shower water pressure seemed low. housekeeping lady was kind of slow, 4 out of 5 days during my stay, the room did not get cleaned up when I came back to hotel around 2 PM.

Room is relatively clean, except at night can be a little noisy due to construction outside (Somehow the construction starts at night). However, location of the hotel is good as it is near to a mrt station.

I stayed there for 5 nights and the the only thing that bugged me was how they had the same breakfast menu everyday (with minor changes like if it was strawberry jam yesterday then it was blueberry jam today). I couldn't eat the same thing everyday so i skipped breakfast on the 4th day and had just cereal on the last day.
Everything else about the hotel was pleasing.

I have nearly 2 million air miles in my experience, countless of hotels around the world at all price ranges AND over 30 years of experience traveling in China. This Holiday Express, as a budget travelers hotel, ranks with the best of this class hotels. It doesn't have a refrigerator and the breakfast bar has "mama who who" orange juice and no hot chocolate, but lots of other benefits. Clean, friendly service, budget priced, super location, comfortable bed, with an ACTUAL NO SMOKING ROOM (the whole floor so there wasn't even cigs in the hallway) without even an ashtray (a standard feature in a Chinese "no smoking room"). Staff is as helpful as they can be with their limited English. The internet service is intermittent and a bit frustrating, but workable. Taxi's are readily available. All in all for under $60 per night, I couldn't imagine doing better anywhere.

Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful, our experience was marred by an incredibly stained and spotted carpet, a potentially dangerous doorstop in the bathroom that we kept stubbing our toes on, and a very uncomfortable, fixed room temperature (too warm for October), which required a couple of maintenance staff to open a window to let in air.
Otherwise, it was within easy walking distance up the road, past a park, to department stores (including a classy, yet affordable Japanese Isetan department store). We had a remarkably tasty meal - 5 dishes plus 2 drinks for an unbelievable 6.50 dollars Australian in the basement of the Hipermarket (sic), one block before the Isetan. Other attractions were easily accessible by taxi (cheap).

This hotel is a great location. So much to do within walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful, and could speak English. The room was clean and the bed was SO comfortable. It was quiet and had a nice view (I was on the 18th floor.) The breakfast was ok but I came in when it was busy so not much was available. There are washing machines and driers you can use to wash your own clothes. (15RMB a load) They provide detergent. I will probably stay here again on my next visit to Tianjin!
