Very clean place and so close to universal. Staff was great! Would definitely recommend.

Each room is separate all on one floor. Remoled very well. Some rooms have a garage to park your car. Great swcurity!

The rooms are renovated and clean, bed was so comfortable, the staff are lovely and location was near where I needed to be. The price was great for the area.

Great option for staying near Universal Studios, a short walk to where the tram picks up. Location also had several restaurants and a grocery store surrounding it. Staff was very friendly, helpful. Our room was clean, new, and comfy.

We enjoyed our stay and it was only a 10 minute walk from Universal Studios.

I did a lot of research and came upon this property. It was cute and quiet. Parking right outside the door makes for easy unloading. It was perfect for a couple. Yes you can walk to universal but it is a little bit longer than what they advertise. There’s a big hill after the walk and there’s a shuttle provided by universal you can use to take up the hill. We ended up ubering back after a long day of walking (11$). Which was perfect. Overall I was happy with the property. Clean and updated. They had small breakfast provided and coffee in the am (oatmeal and muffins). Perfect to get the day going. Would stay here again

What a lovely little gem we found! Seems to be completely remodeled from it's old 1950s original build but still has such a fun retro vibe to it! Reminds me of old I Love Lucy roadside motels that are so homey! The staff was lovely and very attentive. I think we'll try their small cabins next time we're in town!

I wont lie, I was skeptical when we first arrived, as you can tell that its a much older motel. However once checking in and getting our room, I was pleasantly surprised. Check was easy and quick. Its a walk from Universal but a quick 5 minute drive and has several amenities near by. The bed was a little softer than I was expecting, but other than that I had a nice trip and we will definitely book here again.

This little tucked-away gem never disappoints, and the price is right for the Studio City area! The staff and owner always go out of their way to make sure I get the best and most quiet room. The room (no carpets yay!) and newly remodeled bathroom are impeccably clean and there is housekeeping service every day, without having to request. Good shopping and restaurants are about two blocks away one direction and about 5 or 6 blocks in the other. I highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Studio City!

Quite the gem! Robert, Oscar and Xavier (who was dapper, funny and witty) were more like hosts than staff. We walked to universal studios no problem. We felt safe and cared for. The room was simple, clean and comfortable.

Clean facilities and very easy check in/out. Administration people were friendly and informative. Our stay was very comfortable. Would stay here again in the future.

When we drove up we were a little worried, however that was quickly gone with the clerks helpfulness. The room was very nice and we could see that they were remodeling the hotel. We had chosen this place because we were staying at Disneyland and we didn’t want to drive to the Rose Bowl game early in the morning. This was a perfect spot for us!

Very clean room & bathroom! Safe, cozy & comfortable setting within walking distance to the grocery store and restaurants.

The staff was very helpful and friendly, they let us check in early. Room small but with everything we needed, the bathroom though was very spacious with excellent products. 15 min walk to universal studios tram.

I lived in LA for over 25 years so I guess this should give me some cred. The hotel was easy to locate; one parking spot came with the room and to boot, it was right in front of my room. Check-in was smooth but if you're a smoker (which I am not), you will be charged a deposit. The staff was courteous and playful, which made the check-in process easy after sitting for hours in LA traffic. There are several restaurants you can walk to. I chose an indian food place across the street (SO GOOD!) The room was clean with nice faux wooden tiles. The hotel itself felt safe. THE DRAWBACK: Listen, I hate soft beds. I just do. I feel like I am sinking in them. SO if you are like me, expect to have a bit of hard time sleeping. I like firm beds and wish I had known but -= that being said, that was the only drawback to booking the space. I can't speak to the coffee and "breakfast" because I never had it and never do when I stay in any hotel. This hotel was a deal; it was really close to everything and accessible.

The manager was very nice and gave us options and tips for around town. We were there for our anniversary and he made it very special. Thank you for giving us a nice safe place to stay for our trip

My friend came here from Japan for the first time and I really wanted to let him have a fun experience in America and at Universal Studios. We booked the El Royale because of how close it is to Universal and how affordable it was compared to other hotels. Our experience was lovely and the employees were incredibly kind and accommodating. This is also probably an odd thing to comment on, but I loved that there are hard wood floors rather than carpet. They looked and felt so much cleaner than the past hotel carpets I’ve seen, it made me wonder why hotels bother at all with carpet in the first place! The shower is really nice. They let us drop off luggage early, and let us check out early to make our flight on time. We can’t thank you enough for the seamless experience.

My goodness. Where do I start? This hidden gem was totally unexpected. I was looking for a place for my wife and daughter to stay before a day at Universal in the big name hotels were double the price of the El Royale with lower ratings. I am normally not a fan of older properties, but what an incredible surprise. First of all, Robert is one of the nicest and most helpful property managers I have ever talked with. I had a question before the booking that he answered quickly, and then I had a mixup on the reservation that he happily took care of for us. When my wife and daughter got to the property he greeted them by name, got them into a wonderful room, and even upgraded them to a two bed unit. He also provided recommendations for an outstanding local restaurant. The pictures of the property don’t do it justice. While it is an older “ motor lodge” design, the Gardens units are extremely well-kept, clean, and large. It’s not the Ritz Carlton, but you’re not paying for the Ritz Carlton either. I highly recommend the El Royale Gardens, and especially Robert the proprietor, to anyone!

The staff are extremely nice and hospitable. They upgraded our room for free and provided an electric water boiler when we asked for hot water. They sincerely want us to have a comfortable stay with them.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay here while visiting Universal Studios. Hotel was nice, clean, and updated and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Was a short Lyft ride away from Universal Studios. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area!

Great location, easy parking, safe area, plenty of shopping and restaurants within a 5-10 drive, bus stop is close by, helpful staff. Liked it so much I booked another stay there.
