I was really disappointed with my stay here. The internet connection was terrible—sometimes it worked, but other times I couldn't get a stable signal. When I asked about it, the staff informed me that internet access varies depending on the room and suggested going to the first floor for better connectivity. This was incredibly inconvenient, especially since I paid for a room expecting basic amenities like reliable internet, and this experience fell short of that. I also booked a non-smoking room, but there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in both the bathroom and the hallway. To make things worse, there was no staff available after 10:00 pm, so I couldn’t report the issue at night. Overall, it was a frustrating experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel based on the service I received.

Small room with only a matress on the floor, so not optimal if you have back pain. Good service from the very friendly staff! Shared bathrooms and showers, both clean!

Do not travel there alone as a woman. I have travelled all over Japan for years, and this is the first hotel where I felt unsafe. It felt very shady, and you can only pay cash. The area around is dirty and there are many old and drunk men around, even on a Tuesday.
The hotel itself is run down and dirty. I was afraid of catching something disgusting in the shower - like fungus or warts.
I had also made a reservation for a non-smoking room, but it stank of tobacco. Their solution? Have an air freshener in the room, which didn't help. They found another room for me thankfully, as I absolutely hate the smell of cold tobacco. Thank god I only stayed for the one night. You can hear everything between the walls, and there are police and/or ambulance driving by all the time.
It boasts of having an onsen, but it's for men only.
On the plus side, wifi was stable

With the price being very competitive, I have nothing to complain at all. The room and the bedsheets were clean. Thank you for your service.

Great hotel for backpackers and travelers on a budget. Very friendly and competent crew. Rooms are small but adapted for short stays. Walls might be a bit thin, so you can eat neighbors. Surrounding is very adapted for visiting Osaka. Three stops from Namba, five from Umeda. Direct access to KIX. Price is impressively good (less than 10€ a night). Of course it won’t be the most exciting hotel, but for the price it is more than impressive ! Will go back again for sure.

My son and I stayed in a bunk bed room, and what a deal it was! I was impressed with the check in staff who made it clear what the expectations were and were very kind to share with us the cultural expectations that some travelling from overseas may not be familiar with.
The room itself was clean and tidy. There were many scuffs on the wall, but it really didn't take away from the cleanliness of the room.
The only concern that I had was that a towe rental was around ¥300, yet the towel reeked of stale tobacco. We ended up buying a new towel at a local convenience store for less than ¥600.
Overall, the convenience was excellent, staff was friendly and I never felt unsafe.

It is really cheap to stay here in an individual room, compared to other places.
It is nice and clean, a quiet area and quiet residents, although walls are very thin and you can hear even a needle falling to the ground.

Hotel Lucky is good for the price. The owners are really nice and did their best to help us foreigners. It is a shared hotel, so toaster/plates, sinks, bathroom, shower are all shared but bedrooms are private. The room is tiny, allowing space for a couple pieces of luggage and bed only. If all you need is a bed and roof, this place is great for the price.

The entire experience is petrified. I have never ever had so horrible experience in my entire life due to the foreign staff who is not Asian nor Japanese.
The foreign staff is a guy with the cap on. As a tourist I forget to take off my shoes when I came to the hostel that made sense. Also it was the only and first time I made the mistake. He then shouted at me and pissed off by saying please Obey OUR Rule whilst other Japanese staff just said Oh she forgets only instead of shouting and being so rude. The Japanese understand I did not do it on purpose or have any intention of breaking their rule.
The foreign staff looks so bossy as this is his hostel and he is the boss. He speaks fluent Japanese.
I seriously don't understand why the hostel hire this rude person. Come on I know you want to make it international. He might brought his very rude culture from the middle east. The white people or Asian will not behave like this.
I am not asking for a five star hotel service but at the very least treat your guest with respect. Obey is a strong word and I know he is not an English speaker but he is unbelievably rude. In the hospitality industry even though it is a hostel it needs service basic service and at the very least being polite. As if I owed him a lot come on I am a guest.
Another staff like the Japanese girl and the owner Japanese guy are nice especially the girl called naka and she was very sweet to ask where would I go and giving suggestion.

This place is in a good location, close enough to transit yet far enough away to be in a quiet neighborhood. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The rooms need some better cleaning and facilities need some work but for the price, perfectly acceptable.

The place is labelled as a hotel but it is really a very low budget hostel. Reception only opens at 3pm. When I arrived early the front desk was locked up with no one attending it. I was hoping to drop off my luggage and explore the city until my room was ready but I couldn't. In addition there is no luggage or shoe loclers One shower has running hot water and the Wi-Fi is garbage, I ended up using my data the whole time. The rooms aren't ventilated nor are air filter machines provided so you have to open your window to air it out. It gets very noisy so bring ear plugs, the "hotel" doesn't provide any or anything else.

This was my second budget hotel stay in Japan and the first had made me nervous (the photos online of this hotel are also a bit outdated I think) but Hotel Lucky is more than comfortable enough for short term stays. We chose the bunk room and while it wasnt huge, it had air con, a desk, fridge, tv and brand new bunk bed to boot, I actually had a fantastic nights sleep. The three shower rooms and one (men only) bathroom are shared but all are new and clean, shampoo and soap are provided and towels are for sale from the front desk (manned by a very welcoming man who speaks impeccable English) for 350 yen or a bit over £2. A microwave, hot water dispenser, cutlery, crockery, cooking hob, vending machine and hairdryer are also all available in the common areas. Dobutsuen mae stations 8th exit is just around the corner making it easy to jump on the subway line straight to key stops like shin osaka and namba. The staff also were arranging an outing to a festival when we left so theres the chance to socialise with your fellow travellers too. Overall, for a tenner each for one night in a great location in Osaka, Hotel Lucky is definitely recommended!

The good: Very close to a train station. Room is clean. High Speed Internet. After I complained about bad smell in my room, a staff did air spray right away.
The bad: Bad smell came back not long after air spray, had to open window to get some fresh air, but outside was noisy as it is close to a big road and a train station.
The horrible: In the evening of my check-in date, his hotel sent me an email saying:
"The front desk is closed at 22:00. If you do not check in by this time, your booking may be cancelled and treated as a no-show."
When I received this email, I was still travelling by train to Osaka. After arrived Osaka Station, I had to hire a taxi so I would arrive before 10 pm and not be homeless, which made this stay very expensive.
This kind of policy should be clearly noticed on hotels.com (where I booked), so I would either arrange my trip to arrive early, or choose a different hotel. There are other hotels that they don't have receptionist at night, but they provide self check-in process. This Hotel Lucky cancelling reservation after 10 pm, so making late arrival guests homeless, is horrible.
