It was a fun space in a grand old building. There were a few problems after check in: the "new" toilet seats are the cheap plastic kind that shift & move & fall apart. We had to be given another room since the toilet seat in our first room would not tighten back up. The towel warmer in the next room never did come on, no matter how many times we pressed the button, but having a warmer was not a deal-breaker. The staff was fabulous, Chloe did a great job helping us with a freezer for our cold items we were traveling with, and assisting in getting us another room right away. The city itself is horrid; just as bad as Seattle. Parking was only on the street, and you had to drive around to get one. You had to pay in two-hour increments, but at least parking was free from 7pm to 8am, IF you could find any!

Absolutely loved my stay here. It was comfortable, quiet, and the staff was so so friendly (shout out to Noemi). I will definitely be staying here again for all my business needs in the Portland area!

Amazing staff, great hotel, highly recommended.

I liked that it was in a historic area of Portland. Beds were super comfy. Hated the lack of amenities. No pool, no hot tub, no kitchenette or fridge. Neighborhood is not ritzy at all.

What a great building. Staff was wonderful and informative. Walked to dinner and felt totally safe.

This is a charming boutique hotel close to everything that makes Portland a special place to visit. The staff is friendly, and the workout space is amazing.

Excellent hotel, staff (who bent over backwards to help us), and service!

Would of gave this property a higher rating, however there was a lot of hair on the drain of out shower. We attempted early check in and the front desk attended automatically said no, without checking. I understand it’s not always possible, however I felt there was not even an attempt.

From check in to check out, the staff was amazing! I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Portland!

I’m not familiar with the city, but the hotel seems to border an area where a large population of unhoused persons congregate; when I say border, I mean, the street the runs directly adjacent. I work with the homeless and underserved population in my hometown. I am not afraid of mental illness, addiction, homelessness - I am also not naive to many of the risks associated with these social and health issues. If you are staying here, you should be aware - certainly businesses take note - their doors are locked with signage. It’s not that I would avoid this area, you just need to understand your surroundings.
The hotel and room were lovely. I loved the bathrooms - showers were great. I was a little disappointed my towel warmer didn’t work, but I also wasn’t expecting one so it wasn’t a huge loss. The room was clean when we arrived. Housekeeping did not come in the first day, despite us being out of the room early and the second day, they did a mediocre job; I have no idea if that’s a staffing issue or a reflection of housekeeping so I make no assertions about where fault lies. Front desk staff were pleasant - seems like they should have two ppl at all time, but maybe that’s just a personal bias.
Overall, pretty hotel, but I would probably look elsewhere in the future - even if I pay more.

We enjoyed our stay for the price! We loved how huge the bathroom and shower were.
However, when we checked in, we found broken glass in the carpet and in the bathroom: thank goodness we found it before stepping on it. We called downstairs and they came up immediately to clean it up. It just seems like they were incredibly understaffed: there were only 3 employees trying their best to hold the place together, so I can’t fault them.

The Harlow is an old hotel (1880's?) that has been very nicely redone. Very friendly staff, but not many of them (the front desk person also staffs the cafe). My check-in was delayed in between shift changes. The hotel is close to public transportation, which made getting around easy. Quirky neighborhood, but there are a lot of homeless camping around the property.

Hotel is absolutely clean and staff are friendly. Only concern was the safety in this area nearby Union station at midnight, which I didn't care about it. Other than that, it's commutable to go to downtown Portland by 15-min walking or way up to Seattle or Vancouver by Amtrak.

Staff was very meh. Didn't really seem to care if we were there or not. No real welcoming vibe from anybody at all.

This hotel has a lot of history that was interesting to learn. It has a cafe coffee shop/ bar that's open 24 hours and all the pastries are home made and delicious. It is on the edge of the Pearl district.

The hotel is great for a budget stay. The bathroom was definitely the nicest part. I appreciate that the building is secure. The staff were nice and the free beer at happy hour was a plus.

The staff was so great! I had an issue with my card and they were so nice and helpful.

Absolutely love this boutique hotel. It was perfect for my weekend stay. The area unfortunately like much of Portland is riddled with vagrants and addicts which makes getting to and from the property uneasy and a very smelly ordeal.

I felt like the area the hotel is in feels a little unsafe, there were people who looked disheveled outside yelling.
But the hotel is secured which made me feel safe inside.
The staff was helpful and kind and the hotel was clean and comfy.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay for our anniversary!

There were bugs in the room window seal and on the bed. Ants on the bathroom floor and in the shower as well. Customer service was good about responding but the space was understaffed.
They also mentioned they have parking but it’s street parking and the day that we stayed, no parking signs were out up on the street. This place does NOT have a lot or garage.
There were no toiletries in the bathroom. The room was missing an iron. The bathroom door lock was broken as well.

Well done renovation. Not the most ideal neighborhood but it is close to the train station.

Excellent hotel. Great staff. Plenty of dining, etc within walking distance. Fair amount of unhoused people in the area, but we never had any issues nor felt unsafe. Train/bus station is very near. Many walkable eateries/activities/shopping. Hoghly recommend.

It was the worst stay ever. Homeless people hung around the front gate of the hotel. Highly unsafe and dangerous neighborhood. No wonder why the front door of the hotel was always locked. The sting of the Harlow hotel room hit me when I went in. When I asked to fix the highly unpleasant odor, the hotel manager and the receptionist both refused helping out and kept lying as if the place was ok. Never book this horribke place. It's like a prison.

I wish I would have researched the area before booking. Such a shame because it really is a charming little hotel. Between gun shots and sketchy activity across the street all hours of the day and night, I did not feel safe.

The hotel was well-maintained. The decor in the room was modern. Even the shampoo and conditioner were really nice. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. The rooms were pretty soundproof. The neighborhood wasn’t the best and there weren’t many options for overnight parking in a garage with security. But despite that I would stay there again.

The look and feel of the place was pretty cool. Old building, but nicely updated with modern touches. The check in was interesting coming to the door and having to be buzzed in, which immediately made me feel uncomfortable. Then i was given my keys, lugged my bags up to the second floor and the keys didnt work. Came back down to get a replacement and got in my room. I went into the bathroom to wash my hands and there were long hairs all over the floor, counter and shower. The toilet had a ring in it as if it hadnt been scrubbed in weeks. In all honesty its possible the room sat for a while and the cleaning person had long hair.... But not appropriate. I was exhausted so I made sure the sheets were clean and went to sleep. Towels were fresh and the temperature was pleasant. Upon waking up in the morning I went down to get some coffee in the cafe to find out they hadn't ordered beans....so there was no coffee. I went up, showered and packed my bags and left.

This is a jem of a hotel and the staff is incredible! LOVE this hotel and will stay here again. The only drawback is the parking.

I really enjoyed my stay, the staff was extremely helpful. Everybody in the front was very attentive. And I will stay at the Harlow again when I come back to Portland.

Hotel was clean. It had a 1920s type of hotel feel but upgraded. Near the Pearl District. It was next to a park that seemed sketchy but even when walking at night back from Pearl District, we never were bothered by anyone there. We enjoyed our stay.
