We come to Dover each year for a special event. We stay at First State Inn.This was our third year and we will continue to stay there. Good value for the money. It lacks the bells and whistles such as a pool and gym...we have no time for anyway...it is clean and the air is strong. Both the microwave and fridge worked. It was quiet. Many places to eat and/or shop nearby.

When 50,000 people descend on Dover to attend a phish festival and you decide to go late in the game, don't wanna camp in the muggy weather, you pivot and take a room with air conditioner. That was the best part of the room. Normally $75 we got $250 rate because they could. Room hasn't been updated in 20 plus years. Reached of cigarette smoke and air freshener. Carpet had cigarette burns everywhere. Bathroom was stained and gross. But there was a hot shower and a fridge. Normally you get what you pay for... not in this case. Would I stay there again. Maybe if I was as desperate as I was this time around.

The motel is very clean checkin was very good even though we didn’t get there till midnight. The only thing is that the bed was very hard. My husband said it was fine but not for me

I assume because the surrounding area was close to several stores and diners that I would experience a great motel for its price, but the stench of the cigarettes was horrible. I don’t understand how this hotel is still up and standing! I traveled 3 hours away for a gathering but ended up in hospital at 2 am from the Stich of the smell on the room. When I asked to exchange room, the old man did not understand how horrible the smell was and how it affected my asthma. I would never recommend anyone to visit this place…

The three rooms I looked at were dirty and had a disgusting smell of cigarette smoke. I didn’t feel safe there so I did not stay. I lost my $100 for my stay. My recommendation to Expedia is to remove them from your listing and save someone from a bad experience.

The property is ok for just passing through or one night. My room must have been a smoking room because it smelled of smoke. I do not smoke, there was some small burn holes on the chairs and pillowcases. Its not the greatest place but it was clean.

A very nice clean mom and pop motel. The manager was very nice. Our room was fully mobility accessible. My wife who is in a wheelchair had no problems at all. Good A/C, fridge, micro. There was no coffee or breakfast but none was promised. There is a McDonalds next door for coffee and breakfast. Overall, this motel was an outstanding value.

My stay was brief , bed comfy- great pillows clean , nice hot shower and microwave/ refrigerator and TV with A Lot of channels

The best part of the trip was the fact that I was able to check in at 11:00 at night, but aside from that nothing was really good about to stay. The bed was very loud and squeaky. The hot water in the shower was non-existent, very cold. The TV was extremely small and discolored. I probably won't be ever going back to the site

The owner was not very friendly when I was checking in. The room smelled there were cigarettes burns in the mattress. It was a non smoking room. The bed was so hard it could have been a piece of plywood. There was shady looking people riding bikes and walking around. I did not even stay the second night it was so bad .

Well me and my grown disabled daughter was scammed trying to rent a home for her surgery my daughter is really sick born with down syndrome alot of shelters discriminate against us because of it. Motel let us stay here we had to pay all the money we had so now we are back on the streets of Dover Delaware but this motel is the BEST

Was a terrible experience we got there late and the bed was concrete the door on the bathroom was missing parts and was a terrible nightmare to try to sleep

Can't think of a thing other than check-in in & out that was not one of my worst motel stays ever. No made beds, no clean towels, musty, noisy outside until after midnight, cigarette smoke smells, empty shampoo packs.. too much more to want to think about.

It was disgusting, owner was a real creep and there were multiple Illegal activities happening in and around the property that management was fine with

I felt sorry for the elderly desk clerk.
The room was clean. Impressed by the paint job to brighten the room. Felt like I was in a motel friend m the 50’s or 60’s.

Quiet and comfortable. Room was clean and AC worked great as it was hot and muggy outside. Was in town for lacrosse tournament and it met our needs. Close to shopping, dining and entertainment. No frills but would stay here again.

I specifically requested a non smoking room and got a smoking room on the second floor (room 44). I had a very difficult time sleeping due to this as well as the trashy resident in the room next door with the television blaring. I doubt I would return unless the circumstances were different.

It was a cool stay and the location is great. Lots of food in the area.
