Cute property in a quiet adorable town. The host was so friendly and accommodating! Loved this property!

We loved our stay at Herring House. Cozy, comfortable, well appointed, lots of amenities and very gracious and helpful hosts. Our best stay in Iceland so far. Highly recommend!

Siglufjordur and the cabin at Herring House was by far our favourite stay on Ring Road! Helga and Dagur were so welcoming, offering great suggestions for hiking, restaurants and all the attractions of the area. They were always quick to respond and also offered up great tips for viewing the midnight sun and generously filled the hot tub for us each night. The cabin was beautifully designed, super cozy and had a private location hillside overlooking Siglufjordur. We really enjoyed morning coffees and the spectacular views from the front porch. Siglufjordur was on our list originally because of Ragnar Jónasson’s novels and the Netflix tv series Trapped, but besides that it is such a charming place. We hope to be back!

Amazing place, super friendly hosts, very comfortable!!

The proprietor, Helga, was super-nice and helpful. She told us all about the history of the little town and what to expect on our drive around Iceland. The room was comfortable, with a truly spectacular view out the front window. But be aware: there are four bedrooms, and there's only ONE bathroom! We were fortunate to be the only couple there that night, but otherwise, contention for the bathroom would have been a hassle.

Absolute gem in Siglufjdordur! Helga was so helpful for our forward journey recommending bakeries, lunch stop, and route! Rooms were clean, shared bathroom large and clean, kichen area well stocked.

The attention to making the rooms comfortable and pretty is amazing. Hostess very friendly and helpful with info about what is in the area.

Very clean, a little tight. The outdoor shower was amazing. We had a good stay. Owners were very helpful.

The location was excellent. Close to the town Square. Helga was very nice and provided a town map and information on town events. Beds were very comfortable. Pretty location.

We arrived late and the owners were very nice to keep I touch and provide good direction to check in, they are very nice couples . Love the cabin that we stayed , wish we could stay longer and enjoy the view , the place and the back yard was full with flowers and mountain Very very beautiful

Private house with rooms in perfect condition, extremely comfortable and a view to kill for. Siglufjordur is a spectacular place, with a few great restaurants and places to enjoy a drink. Worth the detour.

I visited the Herring House for a couple of nights during the third week of March, 2023. Well, I suppose there are prettier towns than Siglufjördur, but I can’t think of any. It took a moment or two to adjust to my surroundings. The Herring House sits on a hill overlooking the magnificent mountains that frame the fjord. With a commanding view of the town and fjord, as well as the church and night sky, it was all rather magical. Helga and Dagur were as charming as they were helpful. They checked all of the usual boxes, with a clean comfortable room, a kitchen outfitted with the necessary tools to prepare your own meals, and a large bathroom with a great shower. I left Siglufjördur already making plans for a return visit to the Herring House, this time in a cabin with my wife. I can think of no higher complement to the folks who run the guest houses that make our travels so rewarding, than to visit them again and again. Helga and Dagur, thank you, and well done!
