Questo bellissimo Hale Hoku'ao si trova nella famosa area turistica di Keauhou. Scelto per le sue viste spettacolari sul campo da golf e proprio sulla baia di He'eia, e dei suoi dintorni tranquilli. I 3300 piedi quadrati della zona giorno sono composti da cinque camere da letto e cinque bagni e i soffitti a volta creano un'atmosfera molto spaziosa. La casa ha un'atmosfera molto privata quando si vede l'ampio campo da golf dal cortile sul retro. È come vivere in un parco delimitato da He’eia Bay, a ovest dall'Oceano Pacifico, ed è vicino al Kona Country Club Ocean Golf Course.

Great spot. Nice pool. Tons of beds for large groups. Only problem was the Air Conditioners, some worked, some didn't, some seemed very undersized for the rooms they were supposed to cool. Overall still very good, would stay here again.

This is a good size property for a large family group. We used all spaces. This property just needs some TLC. It is a bit worn and dated. Items like 4 blender, but only one that worked or matched. Several coffee pots, but one that was usable. Mix and match dishes, pots, pans and search for lids, etc. Deck chairs that were unusable because they were torn, etc. Liked the location. Asking us to wash towels, but no detergent available. We had fun, but probably would not rent here again.

House is ok overall but it is a little tired with a few bugs (large spider and cockroaches).
It is the tropics I know, but a little more upkeep to the house would help.

We really enjoyed our stay. Emmy was helpful with questions when we called. The house had large living space areas which was nice for our large family gathering. We had plenty of room to spread out. The rooms were spacious. Beds were good. The setting with a view of the golf course was pleasant. The pool got lots of use by our younger grandsons.
The house made a great launching point for our adventures on BI.

First, I have stayed at dozens of VRBO's over the last decade so I believe I have reasonable expectations for a decent stay.
Let's start with the good news:
1. Pre-trip communication & check-in were handled well.
2. Location is excellent, including privacy from neighbors and quiet street.
3. Plenty of space in the house and on the property. Not a huge yard but enough room to enjoy outside space.
4. Pool was a hit. We had 14, including 7 grandkids, 6 of whom are grade school or younger. It was perfect for all of us!
5. We love to cook. Kitchen was fine, grill was dirty and had to be scraped off before we used it but no big deal.
Now, for the not so good news.
1. Houses in Hawaii that claim air conditioning can be misleading for those of us from the mainland. AC in Hawaii almost always means window units which equate to uneven cooling. This house was no exception. I ended up sleeping on the couch because the master bedroom was so hot every night. You're lucky if the house maintains about 77 degrees. I suggest at night turning the attic fan on high and opening all the windows. & sliding doors. Keep the screens shut!!!!!
2. We had a few problems when we arrived, the biggest being the washing machine was on the blink. This was a huge problem for us since we told our crew to pack light and do a load of wash every day or so. I contacted the owner and was told the door didn't always shut correctly, but I could get some duck tape to hold it shut. When I said that wasn't OK and I expected to hear her solution by the next day I was ignored. She never called back. To be clear, in the contract it says broken appliances do not equal money back. So, you're just SOL if this happens while you're there. Not to worry, however, I left a full role of duck tape on the washer. Also, the drier took 3 cycles to dry beach towels. just hang them on the pool fence for faster results.
3. Kitchen fuse kept cutting off when the microwave and coffee maker were operating at the same time and you had some lights on so you could see what you were doing. Didn't bother to report this after my concerns about the washing machine were ignored. (Owner may debate this or claim she didn't ignore me, but trust me, she did.)
Bottom line this a 3+. Great location, plenty of room, good pool but poor customer service from the owner with some key appliances that don't work. It's as good as you can get in this price range, so pack your duck tape, or use mine and enjoy!

The house and yard seemed a bit worn but for a family stay with young children.it was perfect. Not surprising, the pool was a hit, almost every afternoon the kids were in the water. Lots of pool toys available, plus lifejackets and floaties. The house was big and roomy. Odd configuration of some of the rooms and bathrooms but it worked out great for 3 families. Hot tub did not work properly even after pointing it out to the owner. The cover was fixed but the tub leaked most of the water when it was used. That was our only issue.

Renting the property was easy. The home needs a lot of repairs and upgrades. The last few years have been challenging for home rentals no doubt so we didn’t fuss about worn out sheets, broken dishwasher racks, broken refrigerator drawer, totally worn out hot tub cover etc. We hope the owner will be able fix things soon. It is a nice location but definitely needs help. We still had a wonderful family gathering.

Outdated, moldy with hot water issues in Rhett bathrooms (none, OR scalding) and an air conditioner that didn't work. TV had no sound. But the worst was mushrooms, yes actual mushrooms, growing out of bathroom baseboards. For what I paid, this is just wrong!

House was great. We had three families and grandparents staying together...13 total and it worked out perfect. Must do the manta ray night snorkel.... You can literally walk to the dock where it's done.

I first want to say the property served our needs. The beds were comfortable and once the pool was cleaned per my request (green algae all over the deep end walls) it was a fantastic place for my grandkids to play. The home definitely needs some major TLC. First impressions are very important. I have rented many homes and condos through different vendors and have always left glowing reviews. It appeared to us that this property is kept just repaired enough to make it rentable. The photos are very misleading.
The yard is nothing like the photos portray it. Very small and a lot of dirt and little grass. Not sure when the last time the yard was taken care of but it appeared leaves and trash were just blown off to the side and not cleaned up. The sheer curtains in the dining room and off the big family room upstairs all have numerous small tears in them. One of the chairs in the dining room is broke (was brought to the owners attention by people who stayed there in October) and was not fixed. The wall above the tv in the big family room has lots and lots of gecko poop on the ledge (this was also brought to the owners attention in October). The wall directly behind the sink has paint pealing like crazy. The transition going from tile to hardwood for the bedroom off the kitchen area has about a 1/2 inch gap with a rough edge (they sell the transition pieces at hardware stores for just a few dollars). The bathtub in the bathroom off the kitchen has rusty metal pieces that must have been from some type of wall mount. Not safe to give a child a bath in there. The bunkbeds are actually in the laundry room. Not sure when the last time the pool deck was cleaned off, especially the corner with the potted plant. All of the cement areas were covered in dirt. We had to sweep them off the first day. We had to purchase batteries for over half the remotes for the air conditioners and TVs. It wasn't that they were dead, there weren't any in them. There were only 2 garbage bags for the kitchen area and none for any of the bathrooms. One roll of toilet paper on the dispenser and one under the sink in each bathroom. Not quite enough for a 10 day stay. Also only a half a roll of paper towels in the kitchen. We had to go purchase a bunch cleaning supplies. I don't know who cleans the house but I don't think they do a very good job. We made the best of our vacation and still had a great time. I'm not willing to recommend this property to friends and family.

The house is good but the outside spaces were only fair and misrepresented on the website. There was a lot of dead vegetation that needs to be cleaned up. The communication with the owner/ manager was great at the beginning but non existent when we had questions. Like other reviews expect to buy paper products and cleaning supplies. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and the grill was great. The pool was very secure and there were pool toys. There are also a lot of sand toys for kids to play with.

The house is in a great location. Great neighborhood. Easy walk to the beach, market, gas station, restaurants all near by. The property manager was extremely responsive to all our needs. The house has everything you need to enjoy a great vacation. The only negative things were that there is a leak in ceilings of one of the rooms. The water leaked down to the carpet and caused a mildewy smell, pillows are old and should be replaced or you should bring your own and some (not all) of the bathroom set ups are definitely weird (no privacy) . Other than that- the pool, spa and ability to cook your own food is a great thing. The swing and outside picnic table are a great addition. You can relax outdoors and enjoy a great breakfast and dinner outdoors.

We really enjoyed our stay Hale Hoku'ao. The owner was responsive and kind throughout the stay. The beach behind the homes across the street is beautiful but not a place you'd get into the water. It was beautiful to sit and enjoy the sounds and sights of the ocean. The neighborhood was quiet and was perfect for our group. There is a grocery store and pharmacy nearby if needed too.
Check in and check out were a breeze and no contact, which was appreciated in this time with covid. The house was clean. It seems like they really care for their home and renters.
It rained really hard one of the days we were there and there was a slight leak. It didn't inconvenience us but we wanted her to know. She had someone out right away to handle it. She was very fair and kind.
The pool was wonderful to help wear out the kids on days that we took long car rides to see the volcano and Wiapio Valley. There were also tons of beautiful birds that stopped by the back yard for viewing.
Oh another nice touch was that on one of the days (we stayed a week) the man in charge of the yard came by for maintenance. He knocked and let us know he was there and why. I really appreciated that.

The Good: Overall we had a good experience.
Swimming pool was great!
Location was good.
There were adequate kitchenware, dishes and
appliances, but only two kitchen towels for
8 people.
The Bad:
1. Despite having pre-paid the demanded cleaning fee, and the owner's written list of expectations/demands re: cleaning the place at check out, not only for final cleaning, but ALSO for the entire stay, supplies of paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, dishwashing liquid soap, laundry soap, and garbage bags were depleted within 2 days of our 7 day stay (On the bright side? was that there were enough dishwasher packets.) We purchased toilet paper and paper towels on day 3
2. I was disappointed that after spending so much for the place, plus cleaning it (per owners instructions and specifications), that those supplies were not made available. Again, we did most of the cleaning before we left. Not enough laundry soap to complete the washing (the owners written instructions/expectations)...
3.We were there for vacation, not to spend our last night and day before our flight, doing the cleaning folks job.
4. One of the bedrooms has a bathroom with a wall that does not go up to the ceiling so that the bath room is essentially open to the next bedroom. Lack of privacy big time!!
5. Hot tub must of had a broken filter because debris stayed in the water even though the water heated and the jets were on. Email to the owner promised the "pool guy" would come and fix things. However, that did not happen during our stay.
6. The kitchen circuit breaker tripped. The breaker box was hard to find until we noticed that a framed print in the short hallway between the kitchen and bathroom looked askew. Lo and behold, the breaker box was behind it! Who goes out of their way to cover up a breaker box?

Spacious home perfect for hosting a multi- family gathering. My adult children and families all had their own overnight space. Space for those with no family, too. The most advantageous pluses of this property was the vast community living areas with TVs, and especially the pool! Everyone had a fantastic time.

The house was located in a great area and the house itself was great. Plenty of room for all of us and comfortable. The kids loved the pool! Michelle was also great and found us a babysitter for a night out. The house had lots of beach and pool toys and plenty of beach towels. We would recommend the house for multiple families and kids. It was a hit!

This property was perfect for our family vacation of 6 adults. There was a lot of space, giving all of us privacy when needed. We enjoyed morning coffee in the back, looking at the golf course and watching the birds and mongoose play. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything need to cook. We really enjoyed the pool in the evening when it started to cool down. There are lots and lots of pool toys so no need to go buy any until you take inventory of what is available. when we stayed they included rafts, beach balls, noodles, snorkeling equipment, baby floaties, sand toys and much more. There were also plenty of beach towels.
The cove across the street is the perffect seeting for a morning cup of coffee or afternoon sunset. It did not have easy access to the water but is a beautiful setting. The closest true swimming/snorkeling area is a 5 minute drive down to Kahalu'u Beach, aka Turtle Beach. For this trip to the Big Island, it was the best snorkeling we experienced, after going down to Two Step and then on a boat to go snorkeling. DO NOT rule it out.
Because we were celebrating a few birthdays, we invited Chef David Paul, a very well know chef here in Hawaii, to cater a special dinner for us. The house and kitchen were the perfect size for his preparation and then serving of the appetizers and meal.
Lastly I will say that Michelle, the property manager, was so responsive to our needs upon arrival, allowing us to drop off our bags early, before the 4:00 checking. This enabled us to immediately enjoy our vacation without having to worry about a car full of bags! She clearly knows the property and was very knowledgeable in showing us around and getting us acquainted with our home in paradise.

We had a great time at the house. The house is very spacious with two living rooms and two dinning areas inside the house. The outdoor dinning sets on both front yard and back yard gave us more space to enjoy the pool and golf view.
The house has ACs in every room including living area. The kids had a great time at the pool. We can walk to the beach go snorkeling. The house is very private and quiet. Thanks for letting us stay at your place.

This home had everything that we needed. My adult children and their spouses (10 adults in total plus one infant) enjoyed the home, surroundings, and close proximity to Kona activities. We would definitely recommend it to our friends.

This is a older home but clean and in nice area of Keauhou Bay. There is good space in the home with plenty of room to relax. Our contact person Michelle was very helpful on arrival. The roof did start to leak one day during a heavy rainfall and it looks to be a reoccurring problem as the ceiling was water stained. We advised Michelle and water leak did not reoccur. Only two burners out of 3 worked on the outdoor grill and the Jacuzzi bathtub jet motor does not work. It would be great if there was a supply of toilet paper. paper towels,dish wash soap as our group of 8 ran out during the week of our stay and had to restock . The outdoor pool was great , the hot tub was nice but very heavily chlorinated to the point that it beached some clothing and discolored a silver bracket . We considered these to be minor problems . The house was in quiet suburb and walking distance to small beach near the marina and Sheraton Kona was only a steps further.Our group of 8 enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return.

Our family of 12 really enjoyed our week long stay. The location was great, close to water, stores and downtown Kona. The property was very roomy including 2 living spaces for everyone to spread out. Pool was a hit with all the kids.

My husband was competing in the Ironman championships downtown Kona and we had relatives joining us for the week. I cannot say enough on how great this place was for the 10 of us. The house was clean, quiet, and had plenty of rooms for everyone to have their own space. Within a short walking distance a few of the family members really enjoyed the snorkeling and watching the sunsets.
We would hang out at the pool then use the grill for dinner and gather around the table out back to eat. The few questions we had, Emmy and Bob responded right away. If we ever get back to Kona, we will definitely book this house again. One of our favorite trips and places to stay!

We looked for a while for a place to meet all of our needs and this place met it. It is a lovely home. It had pretty much everything we were looking for: all the beds and rooms for 11 adults and 5 kids, a large enough kitchen and open plan gathering space, a pool with all the toys (which the kids loved), close to the water (5 min walk), beaches (5-10 drive), shopping center (5 min drive) and close to town (15 min drive). We took a walk to the Sheraton most days (15 mins). The property is well maintained and it was clean when we arrived. It was exactly as the pictures showed. The house was comfortable with AC and fans (we stayed in June). The detached garage (the "Ohana") was converted to a bedroom and bathroom for 2 adults (and 2 children on futon). The kitchen (which was fitted out nicely) and eating area worked for all 16 of us and the big family table on the back patio was really nice. We used the grill a few nights. Wifi worked well when almost everyone was on their device at the same time. We knew and would expect there may be bugs since it is a warm humid climate. That did not detract us from reserving it. We did experience very minor instances with bugs and ants and yet it did not distract from our enjoyment of the space. We did what we could to control them (i.e don't keep food out and clean up the after eating). We experienced an acoustic issue between upstairs bathroom and bedrooms. Emmy and Bob were very responsive with any questions or concerns. Overall, it is a really nice property and our family created really nice memories there (80th Birthday and 50th Wedding Anniversary). It is a very peaceful and beautiful property and it was great to see and hear the wildlife. The birds singing in the morning was so nice. We definitely recommend staying here.
