Location location location, at the right place close to everything in Ipanema. Small spaces but good and clean enough.

Way better than my previous hotel …. Sanitary …& quiet … staff was helpful and very pleasant … The gym was fantastic as well as the breakfast although I wish they had mango slices but not a big deal …Wish I had stayed here for my entire trip instead but I’ll know for next time which will be soon anyway

Our stay was great and the staff was great. My only issues were water leaking from the AC unit and somewhere else in the bathroom causing some wet areas on the floor.

Stay away! I booked 2 rooms (connecting), they instead gave me a single room with a double bed. Bait and switch by the hotel. Terrible manager on site, did not care. Had to call credit card to dispute charge. Left the property and booked another. Saw another person complaining while I was there too. Seams like a typical story at this hotel. So many other options in Rio. Pick another!!

this was an amazing hotelnyobstay. First time in Brasil and walking distance was so convevience and the staff was so lovely. Will def reccome this hotelnyo family and friends. The restaurant Pato was delicious.

This is a nice hotel with very friendly staff. It is a little overpriced now, but prices have increased a lot in Rio. You are paying for the location, near the beach and in one of the safest neighborhoods in Rio.

Location is awesome. Beds and room were clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. I’d stay here again because the price is reasonable for the location. But - the Sink would back up. Grout on shower tiles was black. WiFi has no password so it was overwhelmed and useless.

The hotel is under renovations but do not bother your stay. Very friendly staff and great location.

The bar noise is strong in the room. the doors are very thin and you can hear all the noise from the hallway

Bad costumer service

Unfortunately amenities were closed, which no one told me during booking. But the room and hotel are great, the restaurant is VERY good, and I had an overall great experience. Who needs the rooftop with the beach a block away?

We've stayed at Mar Ipanema twice, hands down a great place to stay!

The staff was out of this world. Everyone went way and beyond to help us, everyone is very friendly. I requested a high floor and I received no problem. The breakfast was good and the bed excellent. The most annoying and terrible thing was the internet. They seriously need to address this situation. A) There is no password. B) Every few minutes you need to disconnect, forget the WiFi history from your device and receive a new IP address. What kind of nonsense is this??? I speak Portuguese, I am Brazilian. I speak English, I understand internet and technology and this is ridiculous. I spoke to the reception that helped me a little but in the end, I always had to disconnect and connect time and time again even within 30 minutes. I know it sounds strange but I would think twice before staying there again, only because of this. I was so stressed out with the internet that I didn't even bother fighting for it because I knew it wasn't one employees fault.

I stay here frequently while on business in Rio. Very good hotel. Close to excellent restaurants and shopping.

The free breakfast was good and it was close to plenty of nice shops.

Good and safe location

The elevators were constantly malfunctioning. The light in the room was flickering. The panel on the AC is light up and it’s annoying when trying to sleep. The restaurant has good food and it’s lively and the location is excellent

Walking distance to Ipanema beach, Staff are very helpful. It can get very noisy on weekends, but then Rio is a party town!!!!

The location is everything. The hotel was not best in condition, but, the staff was friendly, the breakfast was great. One complain was that the WiFi was terrible. In other words, you’re likely to be on your own with no WiFi unless you find it at a restaurant or store.

The hotel is in a great position and has a lively bar/restaurant open to the public. There is no swimming pool and the rooms are quite small. The aircon seemed to be either cold or off so during the night we had it off so it was pretty hot. The staff are friendly and helpful but the hotel does need a makeover. It is looking a bit down market and a 2 star hotel.

Amazing hotel

The staff was extremely helpful as we settled in. They also made a quick correction when we needed to twin beds for our childrens room.

For the price - it was absolutely fine. The bed was comfortable enough, the room was clean enough and the AC worked. You can't beat the location since it takes just a couple of minutes to walk to the beach. Also, the restaurant/bar on the bottom floor is quite popular. I wish I had time to stop by for a beer.

Room smaller than advertised. Air con remote didn't work properly - very frustrating! There was no-one serving at the rooftop bar, again not as good as it looks in the pictures. One of the lifts was out of order during our stay which left only 1 small lift serving the whole building - lots of waiting! Breakfast was a bit disappointing.

I enjoyed that the hotel staff allowed us for late check out (5 p.m) for free. Hotel room is somewhat small but comfortable for 2. Bathroom shower faucet was weird. Bathroom

Logo cation is excellent butvthe hotel is decadent. I guess value for money is ok, but is not comparavla with 4.5 stars hotels.

The hotel is close to both the beach and the lagoon and has views from the rooftop terrace of Cristo Redenter and Sugarloaf. There are lots of little restaurants nearby and also lots of shops and pharmacies etc A great location and I especially liked the restaurant attached to the hotel.
