The good: the hotel is in a great location and the staff is very friendly The bad: the hotel is very very run down. Our room was dirty, the sheets had holes, the mattresses and pillows were very uncomfortable and there were ants everywhere in the room. The daily cleaning was poor and was missed a couple of days.

Really nice place we were right on the beach , reception super friendly. Over all good place to stay.

The property was basic. It smelt very musty on the first night and although it was cleaned daily it has an cockroaches in the apartment

very nice relaxing stay

Was quite impressed with the facilities especially for the price I paid. The room (small apartment) was a generous size but the bed was very uncomfortable and the wind was noisy against the old windows. As was the beeping from machinery backing onto the property from the early hours. The room needs updating as not just were fixtures and fitting dates but some were leaky/loose. The balcony was a lovely space quite private. The layout was pleasant too and was quiet apart from the work behind the building.

Flat was outdated and looked like it had not been renovated since the 90s. Floor boards broken and swinging up and down when walked on. Bath tub had cigarette burns- put me off having a bath and showering. Sofa was dirty and looked like it had not been cleaned or changed since the hotel first opened. I did not want to sit on it. No amenities in the hotel such as salt and pepper or even water. Room did not have AC- very hot night, no fan. Had to go ask reception for a fan. However it was delivered promptly. Positives: staff were very nice and polite. Easy to check in and out. Close to the beach but not a pretty beach. Island bar/restaurant charged for sun chairs which I did not like- if you are a member of the hotel you should not be charged or be charged a reduced rate such as €1-2 not €6.

Limited sunbeds around pool areas, very old and on need of replacing. Bar in main building closed. Bar area at the lido over inflated prices, food very poor except for breakfast which was good value & good quality. Apartments are showing their age now and on ended of investment which doesn’t seem to be happening

The resort was big but felt so cozy. Staff really friendly & helpful. The restaurants were great, serving good food. Buffet style with set adult & child price in one of them. Overall a lovely... chilled ... fun time spent there. Would/ will defo book again.

Villas in poor condition . No air conditioning & very hot. Cockroaches at night. Leaflet about site said sunbeds free at MaiTai but weren’t. Cost 6Euros per day if a resident. Told reception many people were unhappy about that.

This was our first visit to the resort and I have to say we had a great time. The staff we lovely and the resort with lovely and clean. Our room could do with a little TLC but don't let that put you off. Definitely would go back as it's a great for familys. Thanks to everyone for making it such a great holiday.

Very quiet area .easy access to main walking arez

Big surprise when we arrived in the hotel. The reception looks like and old ex-grand shopping mall from the 80s, paintings, roofs, fabrics are overused and undermaintained, and when the sun is not shining to make the white bright its looks a bit abandonned. However, the conception is good, the eprsonnek is available and the cleaning is very good inside the rooms and outside, the breakfast buffet is good.

The staff were fantastic and the private beach wonderful for the kids.

The resort is quite tired in places, the apartments are of varying quality as many are privately owned, some of the bathrooms are very scruffy and need updating, no cleaning products in villas, crockery wasn’t very clean. The paint is peeling in main public walkways, no 24 hr reception, no porter assistance with luggage. The on site supermarket is well stocked, it is a pleasant walk along coastal path.

A fairly cheap and cheerful stop, good location in terms of being close to bars and supermarkets, accommodation could do with a spruce up, shower always cold front door hard to open, towels thin but all in all if your not paying too much its ok

Nice hotel

Stayed at sands many times via a private booking direct with owners, never had any issues as what you see is what you get, this time room was appointed by sands, room was very much I need of tlc, room was supposed to accommodate 6 people however only 3 forks, 4 knives etc, only a settee to seat 3 people, Sands need to spend some money on their refurbishment of their rooms or otherwise people will start to go elsewhere. It is a lovely location, staff are friendly and hardworking, lovely walk into the centre

Lovely vibe for the marathon

Stayed 26 Nov - 01 Dec. No.56 Beachfront (with Seaview). Hotel Private beach was excellent as was on the doorstep, had loads of fish in it that swam up to you and were entertaining when you fed them with bread and the free use of Paddle Boards and Kayak was a bonus. The apartment was nice and as advertised - Only issues we had were the mattress was a little uncomfortable (but that could be put down to personal preeference) and the lack of airconditioning. The staff were helpful and courteous. We didn't use any of the restaurants so cant comment. We used the Mai Thai Bar at the end of our firsr night, which was a Saturday, and we had a blast. The hotel in general had a nice relaxed feel to it, was quite quiet which is expected at this time of year, and was nicely located away from the hustle and bustle. Hammonds Sports Bar is right across the road from Reception. Hiperdino Supermarket is a further 5 minute dander and then the main areas of bars/restaurants are another 5 or so minute dander. These can be walked to via the seafront too but will take a little longer and if dark will require some sort of torch for a small section. We would definitely recommend to others to come.........Enjoy!!

great location, staff great

We were only here for one night. Our flight was delayed and we arrived so late it was dark and no one was available to help us take our bags to our rooms plus all the restaurants and shops were closed. I had four very tired hungry children and we got lost in the resort trying to find our room at the other side of the resort from the entrance. A bit of help would have gone a long way. The hotel airport transfer was more than double the price of another on line transfer I booked. And there’s only two sun loungers per room which is a pain when you are a party larger than two. However the hotel was nice. The apartment was one of the smallest but a really good size. There were plenty of pools and we had a great time. We would definitely consider going again

Good, just more information on whats available wouldve been good

Stayed at this property a few times and enjoyed it but this time was very disappointing. No hot water all week we had to boil pans and kettles of hot water to put in the bath so we could wash. The sunbeds were falling to pieces and very dirty. The who place looked very tired and needed a good refurbishment.

I thought it was nice and easy going. Apartment was great for a couple. Nice and quiet. Possibly in summer it would need air conditioning but no problem in January.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Spacious, self catering apartment. Bike rental near the resort - €12/day. Good location. Tennis court. Furniture a bit dated but it wasn't a problem for us. Would stay again.

Sands Beach is a nice place. I wouldn't say its a 4-star resort anymore, it would have been when it was built though. They will no doubt have been struggling due to the pandemic, however some aspects (quality) of my accommodation were a little disappointing and I feel that due it being quite quiet they could have put me in a better studio that got the sun more. The staff were nice and helpful.

This is a lovely hotel with great facilities but a little tired and needs some TLC. Staff were helpful and polite. No air con in rooms was a bit of a downer as was the lack of any additional toilet rolls.
