The room was fine for a historic property but getting access to the room was really bad. You get an email with instructions on downloading an app to use your phone as a mobile key; if you want a physical key, it’s $10. The email doesn’t mention the hotel name but comes from some unidentifiable place so it went to my spam folder. Had to call the hotel for help, Downloaded the app and got the key but it doesn’t say the room number. So I went to the hotel but there’s no front desk on site; it’s run by a sister property half a mile away. Had to call again to find where my room was. Then the mobile key didn’t work so I had to call again. They ended up having to give me a physical key. What a hassle! Don’t think I’ll stay here again.

Neat old house with a great history. Large room with nice deck and common areas. Easy walk to downtown. Reasonable rates for area. Check in all done by phone/text. Room key is your phone. More of a hassle then you would think and don't leave the room without your phone. Bed was not very comfortable and made nearly as much noise as the traffic on rte 98. Rte 98 is the biggest issue for the traffic goes all night and the house sits on the road.

Beautiful property with a lot of history. Walkable to everything you need for your stay.

There seemed to be one too many struggles with the inn. I struggled with access and the app. Unfortunately, there is no one onsite and I had to drive to the other hotel to get physical room keys. Upon accessing my room, I noticed “room rules” that stated free maid service every third day. I don’t think I should have to pay extra for more frequent service if needed, especially when there is only one towel in the room. The towels and pillow cases were white which showed off the couple of towels and pillow cases that were worn and off-white. One of the pillow smelled as well. Just as annoying was the thin walls. I could hear every little noise. When someone was anywhere near my door, it sounded like they were in the room with me.

There is "no there there" in Apalachicola. A town the world left behind. Check in at property difficult. Had to go to another sister property to get access. Not worth the hassle.

Wonderful old mansion . Easy to walk to town.

Everything was very nice but my husband doesn’t do stairs very well. 3 flights with luggage was a bit much on him and couldn’t find an elevator. Probably said that on the web sight but I just didn’t read it very well. Room was a bit warm for us but no ac setting.

Just Needed a place to sleep because heaven forbid I have to share a house with my family on St. George island. Very convenient route to the island. Clean and comfortable. Had no complaints. Room never got cleaned. Not sure if that’s extra or not but it did seem like there was an extra charge for everything. Can’t control the temperature in the room and it was rather cold however i have turned up my hotel rooms in Florida before to normal room temp and wake up to a muggy wet room. So it could be for a reason. Too much decaf stacked in room needs more regular. Overall good experience. My biggest complaints are the town itself, nothing is ever open. The coffee shop doesn’t even open till 8. Then everything starts closing down around nine. If you’re gone doing stuff all day, it’s hard to check out the town and enjoy what little is there.

The whole place was charming and wonderful. I would have rated everything excellent, but there was no hot water on either of our stays.🙃

We stayed 2 nights. Within Is walking distance to all the shops restaurants and
Bars. And no, there's nobody at the front desk to check you in.Everything is done through email instructions & download a app called Direct Key app to access your room and unlock it when you come in/ when you go. Some people found this as a hassle, we on the other hand had no issues with it and it was really nice coming and going as we please and not Feeling like someone was watching us. Yes, the water in the shower was a little temperamental but you're staying in a historic building. So some people need to not be so snobbish about that and enjoy the building you're staying at. Our room was very comfortable. The only thing is you cannot control the air conditioning in your room but an area upstairs that they stashed some fans and it was definitely a necessity for a better air flow, we stayed comfortable most of the time. Again , the only thing that was annoying is that our room and you could hear people slamming the door All day coming inside while you're trying to take a nap... But again it's a historical thing and You do have to give the door a good shove when you're trying to close it. I thought the grounds were very well.Kept and they had beautiful flowers and bloom. We enjoyed visiting with all the cats that were wandering around the grounds. Everyone seemed to keep to themselves, so we had plenty of privacy. If you are needy & need to be catered to every 5 sec , this is not the place for u.

It was a little confusing at first as we started out at the wrong house location, not knowing there are multiple places, the wifi was sketchy so the key code for the phone wouldnt work, but the front desk got us fixed up with key cards, we got settled in and the stay was Great!!

We have stayed at Coombs many times but this is the first night in the Mansion. The room was spotless, comfortable bed, quiet and for a house built in 1925 it’s in remarkable condition. I would gladly stay here again.

I loved everything about this place!

We love to stay at Coombs and often do when we visit Apalachicola. I marked “3” on cleanliness because someone else’s dirty clothes and sand shoes were in the closet. We didn’t need the closet, so I just let it go. I also marked a “3” for staff friendliness because we never saw any staff. We arrived around 5 and left Saturday morning. I hate that Coombs is not like the old BNB so no offer of breakfast or family style room in the dining area. It’s still a favorite and prices are affordable!

I loved the old style home mixed with a little new age technology. Hopefully, i will be back soon.

The inn is convenient to shops and restaurants. However, parking is limited as people visiting the shops and restaurants use the parking on busy days despite it being for inn guests. Our room was very clean upon arrival, but we only received one cleaning during our 8-night stay. The cleaner did not leave any toilet paper. We informed management and were told someone would bring it by, but they did not, so we bought our own. Our bed was falling apart. The frame was collapsing in on itself. We attempted to push it back together, but the posts kept sliding apart on the wood floor.
Overall, for the value and location, I might stay here again for a night or two. I wouldn’t book a longer trip here, though. If you’re younger, don’t mind walking a block or two with your luggage, and a messed up bed won’t bother your back, my issues may not be an issue to you. The room was clean enough upon arrival. Just be prepared to buy your own toilet paper and bring your own trash bags for the one small trash can. You’re kind of on your own once you arrive, especially if it’s during peak season.
Oh, and Expedia says this inn provides breakfast. They do not! I believe this is specified on other websites, but don’t be confused by Expedia.

Its part of a house made into rental s.
Thats ok but ididnt know it before renting.
Then you have to log into and app to get a code that might work. Ours didn't after trying 2 times . So i had to go to main hotel to get key card or it would cost 10 dollars for the 🔑. Half the rental was bedroon
That was ok
Other half was bathroom no door separated
Toilet was in a closet . Really

This is a great looking hotel. Very charming. However, as the details listed it as having AC but it is one AC for the whole building. The hallway was cool but arriving at our room it was 80 degrees or more. The description is deceiving when it says that it has AC. Each room does not have AC. Therefore it took until 2:00 in the morning to cool off enough to get a good nights rest.

No on site staff. Had to download one key to get into our room.

Room was really hot. AC couldn’t keep up and fan wasn’t working properly. Just warm in the room. They moved us to another room but that one was warm also and dust or mold was blowing out of the vent and on the bed.

This is a beautiful property but would NOT stay here again in the SPRING/SUMMER months. The central air showed 80 degrees when we walked in and there wasn’t an individual until for our room. The person who answered our call at the front desk offered to have a standing fan brought to us for the evening but unfortunately we did not receive it. One of the air vents was actually clogged with what seemed like lint that we pulled out in attempt to open the vent to help with lowering the temp of the room. We were thankful for the mini fridge which they provided water for and a mini coffee machine.
The alarm clock next to the bed was programmed to go off at 6am so just make sure to check that before going to sleep if you intend to try and sleep in.
Property was clean and bed was comfortable. Would stay again but NOT in the spring or summer months.

The checkin process did not work well with us due to cell phone issues. Going to the Water Street condos to checkin was fine--clerk was good. But we tried calling 2 different numbers and got nowhere.
Also, our room, #2 needed heavy curtains on doors--light was bright when sleeping.

The mansion was beautiful and fun to stay in this environment if you know what you're getting into. Check-in was remote and there was no one on site. It felt a bit eery but we did fine. Not a place to stay for the tech challenged as your entry key was an app on your phone. The mansion itself needed a little help. For example, water dispenser in lobby empty, small ice refrigerator inoperable and frosted over, no ice bucket or bag to put ice in after walking 1 block to the villas ice house on property. Beds were comfortable and the antiques were lovely. However, while looking for plugs, there was an extreme amount of dirt behind furniture/refrigerator. Clawfoot tub was a challenge to climb safely in and out of for older adults that do not necessarily need an accessible room. There was a huge step up to get to bathroom. Toilet had a ring and needed cleaning. When I called the provided number for help about ice, Jared was very helpful.

Inn was nice and quaint, only issue was poor HVAC for this time of year with no separate thermostats for each room.

The building and grounds were beautiful. The room was large and comfortable.
Strangely there was no on site personnel. Check in/ out was all remote. Called for assistance and they were very helpful. Felt rather eerie that no one was there. It lost the cozy feeling.
No breakfast just coffee in your room. Would have been nicer with some hospitality.

The building was beautiful!!! Room was nice! The noise from people entering and exiting and talking in the entrances was very loud. But other than that we enjoyed our stay

Have stayed many times over a decades. Amenities have declined significantly. A B&b with no breakfast, no maid service, no personnel on sight and had nerve to charge a cleaning fee when no one cleaned or provided towels. Bed very old and uncomfortable. Won’t come back

My main complaint is that neither you nor Coombs informed me prior to arrival that it was digital check-in and there was nothing in the lobby with that information either. I stood around for twenty minutes waiting for someone to show up and check me in. I tried calling their emergency number and no one answered. Finally, I remembered there was a phone number on my reservation. I called that number and was informed that the hotel used digital check-in and that the sign in the lobby must have been moved or lost. Once I got someone on the phone, the check-in proceeded more smoothly, but I missed the personal touch an old inn like that needs. Plus, I had several questions in regard to the area and how to find one service or another and the women manning the phone-in reservations desk didn't know enough about the area to help me. Very frustrating experience over-all, though the room was lovely and quite comfortable.

This is our second trip to this beautiful, historic inn; the first time was about 10 yrs ago. Back then, we received a warm welcome, keys and an invitation to a complimentary happy hour in the dining room. There, we heard the fascinating history of this property. Now, it is hosted through email. We were requested to download an app, and were assigned a code to unlock our door. It didn’t work. I called for assistance and was told I’d probably get another email with a different code and to try that. I did, it worked. (If it didn’t, the kind human (who was at an affiliated property nearby) was going to make us a key and waive the normal $10 fee(!).) To summarize, the check-in process was automated and problematic when instead it should be welcoming and showcase the character of this special place.

Not bad. Just a very tired, time has passed property.

Keyless entry worked great. No one there - unfriendly. No information about what to see and do in the area. Had we not walked over to the main bldg, we would not have picked up the 2 brochures available: one on the b & b we were staying in and 1 with walking tour of city which was nice. No restaurant/store info. Nothing on boat rentals, fishing excursions, etc.

The room was fine but it is just not for older couples -no elevator, no one at hotel for questions except cleaning person one day, just to many steps like even to get into bathroom you had to take a step up -I guess at our age we need more convience
