Excellent hotel with an amazing view

It was a fabulous hotel for us. We enjoyed every minute of our 3 days stay. Great location.. right In the seafront. Several beaches and parks in the vicinity. There are bus stops a few yards away from front door and frequent buses to city which is only 10 minutes ride away. We didn’t use the café, bar or restaurant in the hotel only because we like little walk before and after meals. There are numerous cafes, small and large restaurants that serve great food, tapas and drink just a few minutes walk away. Some of them have live music and some have beautiful ambiance. The hotel itself is clean and the room very cozy with nice pillows and bed. The hotel staff were nice and friendly, particularly the lady who was in the front desk during our stay. She was very pleasant, polite and kind… always helpful with a smile whether it is giving us charging cable for phone or getting ironing board in the room promptly or explaining about the hybrid bikes available for hire from the hotel. The other members of staff we interacted were very pleasant as well. We have been to most other parts of Spain several times in the past 15 years. It was our first time in Northern Spain and Santander exceeded our expectations in many ways. Certainly staying in this hotel contributed significantly to a great holiday. Suma and Thomas

We got upgraded to beach view which was an amazing view. Reception staff were excellent. The restaurant was unfortunately closed so we ate on the bar, food was good but server was very abrupt.

Stayed for 2 nights. Return visit to Santander in two months. Decided to stay near the beach. Room was good. We had a sea view. The room was on the main road looking on to the bay. Was a little noisy but not late into the night. Breakfast was good. We had breakfast tea which for Spain was very good. Also had Cava at breakfast! There was no outside space at all. Location was excellent.

Great location for the beach. Food and service are very good. Bus service to main part of city is great. Noisy guests above us but don’t blame hotel.

The staff were exceptionally kind and attentive to our family. A welcome aspect when traveling with young children.

The staff is wonderful—-helpful and kind. They gave me a lovely room with a view of the ocean.

Stayed in the tower room as we were up graded, which was lovely, but the stairs were tricky to negotiate in the night when we needed the loo. Otherwise lovely room with spectacular views.

Please note,i paid £294.33 for three nights stay,what really amazed me was that there was no air conditioning in my room at the end of April,i would never stay at this hotel again. Breakfast was nothing special,please aviod this hotel

This hotel is in a fantastic location across from the beach and is near some very good pintxos bars. It's also only a very short walk from the Palico de Magdelana, and its a very pleasant walk into town.

Modern well placed hotel close to ample free public parking. Option of expensive buffet breakfast or a la carte in the attached cafe. Friendly staff. Decent sized room, excellent bathroom, comfy bed and easily controlled air con.

wifi ok, not a complimentary bottle of water nor cofee or tea machine; position very good.

Its very well located great view and accessible to the beach just by crossing yhe street. Other than that, rooms are very small with the basics, and tge restaurant is quite expensive

Not even close to 4 stars. Parking situation a nightmare. Parking on the street required 2-3 hours to drive around to finally find a spot far away and possible illegal

A great hotel, we had a lovely room and bathroom, the staff are really helpful and the hotel is opposite the beach.

30 minutes walk to the city center

Very nice hotel, right next to the beach. The rooms are beautiful and the view is amazing.

Hotel is in great location to walk to the beach, cafes, restaurants, market, etc. Its recently renovated so everything is new. The staff were very nice and helpful. The room we had was small and walls are thin so can hear other people talking in next room. Also bed was not comfortable, very stiff and springs in my back. As others mention there is cafe across the street along the beach with good price for coffee and breakfast under 5 euros.

The room had a lovely view but smell of drains from bathroom was bad. Actual carpark is off site so parked on the street.

3 stars hotel . Clean but don’t expect much more than that. It’s good but not great

Only my own idea but I think that very broadly, as you move in a north to north - easterly direction, following the coastline, Santander has three zones: industrial, centre and beach. The industrial is up to the ferry port. Then you're in the centre and this extends to the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria. Beyond this, as you head towards the most easterly point of the city and the coastline turns north-west, you're in the beach area. This hotel is very firmly in the beach area. It means you don't have the abundance of shops, bars and restaurants that you have in the central zone but instead, about a munutes' walk away, you're adjacent to one of Santander's orange, sandy beaches. You're also a short walk from the beautiful headland that is Parque Marino de la Magdalena. Because you're not in the central shopping area, you get a good quality hotel at a reasonable price. A similar standard of hotel in the centre of Santander would cost much more. If you're just looking for a modest 2 star hotel which is borderline hostel, there are a few of these as you head south of the ferry port. Further south along the coast are quality but bargain hotels but they're on an industrial estate in the middle of nowhere....no good without a car! Back to this hotel. The interior had a very bright, clean & new look to it, from the reception, through to the lifts and stairwell up to the room. Fixtures & fittings were all fine, as was servicing and reception staff were friendly & efficient.

Room with a view of the sea. Nearby restaurants good. Check out is shown as 12 noon but when we returned to our room at 11.40am the cleaning staff had already opened our door - leaving it open - with all our belongings inside. Not so impressed with that. Everything else excellent.

Hotel fine but parking some way away not suitable for disabled guests

The air conditioning wasn’t working. They changed us to another room but it had the same problem. They control the room temperature from the front desk to 24.5 C . Expensive hotel without air conditioning nor parking

a nice, neat and clean hotel. The staff is very nice and professional and adhered neatly to the covid rules. The hotel does not have its own parking space, only the 2 places in front of the door for loading and unloading. you have to be lucky to find a spot on the busy street. This is the only downside. i would definitely recommend this hotel also because it is central and in front of the beach.

Hice una reserva en el hotel Silken Rio por haber una mayor disponibilidad de aparcamiento, pero como estaba cerrado, una chica muy amable me preguntó si me importaba cambiarme al Silken Coliseum, pregunté que cómo estaba el Parking por el centro, y me dijeron que no me preocupara que podía meterlo en el parking sin pagar el precio habitual de 18.50€ ya que estaba vacío. Al hacer el check out me dijeron que de eso nada, que el parking se pagaba siempre. El único motivo por el que acepté el cambio de reserva era por lo que me dijeron del Parking. De lo contrario me hubiera ido a otro hotel con parking. Así que muy decepcionado. Y ya puestos a quejarnos, el pan del desayuno estaba correoso y parecía de hace 1 o 2 días, la habitación olía a tabaco y había pelos largos en la pared del baño... Tampoco entiendo cómo admiten reservas para un hotel que está cerrado.
