Right in the heart of lovely Newburyport and parking available. We wish we could have stayed longer.

I booked through Hotels. Com and made a one day error on the booking and then tried to xhange it within 2 minutes and contacted Hotels com right away. They put me on hold and contact yhe hitel to see if we could modify by one day but hitel was booked for that night. Then I asked to cancel booking and they said hitel policy was no cancellation policy. The I contacted hotel directly and they said as it was booked through 3rd part Hotels. Com I would have to go through them. So needless to say both the Essex Inn and Hotels com. Gave me the run around and played the blame game on each other. Neither one woukd even offer a coupon for a future stay and I would be happy with that. So now I have to go to this forum and vent my frustration and I am out $250 and I did not get very good customer service from either Essex Inn or Hotels com. Very Very Unsatisfied customer!!!

A bit dated the room was clean, but smelled of strong men’s cologne masking a smoky smell. The room was spacious. We didn’t bother with the breakfast: self-serve packaged, processed food. Not freshly made.

The only issue is the parking spots are very tight.

The room was so small, you could barely move around the bed. The bathroom was so small, like a tiny closet. Shower even smaller, wash you hair and your elbows hit the wall. Room was very dated. We can all do better.

Beautiful Inn, ideal spot to wander around downtown Newburyport. Wonderfully friendly staff and accommodations. Definitely a perfect spot to stay while visiting New England!

The only problem is you don't get a dedicated parking spot. If available street parking can be had or a parking garage down the road. They were there at midnite to check me in so that was good.

Wonderful location, minutes away from great restaurants and shops, and only about a five-minute walk from a beautiful harbor.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff very helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable. Continental Breakfast items perfect. Just one thing to mention is bathroom and shower are small. Other than that we loved our stay. Very convenient for walking to restaurants and shopping.

We have been here many times. The check in took too long this time. In the first room in the front on the ground floor of the 2nd building we could hear people coming in after we went to sleep. It was only 9:00 but it’s better to be on the 2nd floor although it was convenient.

Our bed was very creaky and kept us up. The AC was not keeping the room cool.

Wasn't sure what to expect but we were happily surprise. Great room (330) had a kitchen and separate living room. Don't get it if you can't climb stairs though. Hotel location is as central as it gets. Will definitely stay there again.

I was in town for a party and know that I wouldn't want to drive home after drinking.
My first room was on the first floor - very convenient, however there was something vibrating in there before and after I went to the party. When I complained, they said it was probably the ice machine which wasn't particularly close. She quickly checked and offered me another room. I climbed up to the 3rd floor and had a perfectly delightful room.

Awesome hotel in the heart of Newburyport, easy walking distance to everything in town. We had a suite with a great rooftop deck overlooking the town. Breakfast was amazing, with lots of choices. This will be my go to place for any trip to the North Shore!

Lovely room and accomodations although chipped and broken tile outside the jet bath should be fixed. I saw before i stepped on but was not cauled in and loose piece could cut foot on. Unfortunate no exhaust fan in bath and understand beautiful historical home but does present challenges to sharing a bathroom and steam created when two people teying to get cleaned up to go out. Given bath really tucked in there even leaving door open doesnt help alot and while it wasnt summer yet for stay i could see that being a bigger challenge in hotter temps. Overall lovely room and stay, great breakfast and overall experience. Thx

Parking available right behind the property. Nice continental breakfast options. We had a huge “room” with a fullly stocked kitchen, living room, dining table, desk bed and bathroom. Very nice place.
