Friendly and helpful staff. No parking available at hotel but they emailed me days in advance with the contact details of the parkade and transport. Room comfortable and clean. Located in Sasso Caveoso so very convenient.,

Was meant to be a special occasion, unfortunately the room,the state of it,plaster coming off the wall in the bathroom, the wooden door was split, light was coming in from the bathroom window.Once I've complained about those issues a nice bunch of flower and a bottle of bubbly appeared in our room. Too little to late!

A beautiful hotel built into a cave. We had a huge room with a spa bath which was an amazing way to relax and cool down after a day walking through the astonishing environs of Matera. Dinner in the hotel restaurant, sitting outside overlooking the gorge was lovely.

They really made our stay memorable, a beautiful hotel with large rooms, comfortable beds.
Recommend eating at the hotel - excellent chef and better than any other restaurant in Matera.

The property is very unique as you are staying inside on the side of a mountain rock, but beautiful and panoramic looking at the cave.

The hotel was in a fantastic position for visiting all the historical sites of Matera. The view in the morning was fantastic. The hotel room was amazing as it was located in a cave. The staff were fantastic and helped with all requirements.

This is a great property to stay at when visiting Matera. Conveniently located to the Duomo in the Sassi, all the main sights and restaurants are within an easy walking distance. The room we stayed in was amazing. The staff are polite and hopeful. The breakfast selection is outstanding.

For a luxury property and the price tag of the room, the expectations were not fully met.
The main light was very dim (almost broken) and the room, being in a cave, was very dark.
The waterfall of the in-room pool was broken.
One of the two sinks tap was very very stiff (almost impossible to close once opened).
No glasses on the sink for washing teeth.
For the price tag a welcome gift would have been appreciated (a champagne glass, or a small bottle of wine), i've had them in way less luxury properties.
Otherwise the pool in the room is really nice and the location of the property is right in the middle of the Matera Stones. The breakfast was very good and diverse with both sweet and savoury. Staff was welcoming.

Fantastic, small hotel, right in the centre behind the cathedral in a quiet spot overlooking the gorge. Big room and bathroom in a cave with very tasteful interior.

This hotel was one of the most unique and Beautiful places that we have ever stayed at. The view is awesome and the atmosphere is great. Matera is one of the best kept secrets in the world.

Excellent experience overall. The hotel is in a fantastic position, the staff helpful to make the most of your stay. The top rooms are exceptional (even so, having a chair or two would be nice), but the standard room is cramped and with no view. Breakfast was excellent, with a variety of homemade cakes, the setting in a cave, and Matera under the snow, unforgettable.

Palazzo del Duca is one of the nicest, most beautiful and enchanting places we’ve ever stayed. The personnel are extremely pleasant and helpful. We would stay again and n a heartbeat.

The hotel itself is beautiful, and in a beautiful part of Matera. But it needs some improvements...the room was very hot while the plunge pool was cold. There were ants. The faucets didn't work particularly well. There was only one open-faced rubbish bin, and no coffee-making facilities. BUT the location is fantastic, the staff were friendly, and Matera itself is well worth a visit!
