Clearly there has been investment into the front exterior, foyer, bar and lounges. Unfortunately the room was tired looking. Paint peeling off the bath, ceiling needs painting, noisy floor boards and doors that don’t close quietly, with resulted in a poor nights sleep. There aren’t a great deal of hotels in Hereford, so this one has no excuse for being so much better. No warm welcome/smile from reception, pretty much just handed a peace of paper with all the necessary details on, lazy approach.

Duvet covers were feather down which were too. hot for summer making sleep uncomfortable also pillows were feather down also, unsuitable for summer .Room too hot also

Alwas 1st class treatment and room

Lovely old hotel and would stay again. The lift is very small and the shower pressure on the 3rd floor was very poor but the room and bed were large and comfortable.

Clean but pretty worn down now. Nice in places. Location is perfect.

Average room

Upon arrival receptionist was very friendly and room seemed nice but dated. It was also extremely hot with no AC. A small fan was provided but this still left for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. We also noticed a patch of damp on the ceiling and running down the wall which we thought nothing of until 1am when we were awoken by dripping water coming from the ceiling which continued for most of the morning. When informing reception of this leak at checkout (a different lady from checkin) their response was “oh really” with much disinterest and no apology. Unlikely to return.

The hotel was exactly as advertised

The whole hotel is in need of an upgrade. The only good thing was a helpful young girl on reception who moved us to a better room when I complained. Also had to pay £10 to park in public car park

Pleasant stay, help full staff. Bar is ok. Room was fine for the money, a little tired. Dirty windows and missing light bulbs. But I slept well.

A superb hotel in the middle of Hereford. Wonderfully renovated with great facilities and staff. We’ll stay again.

Good location, friendly staff. An old hotel that must have glorious in the past (as the old servants bells suggest) but now is a comfortable place, closer to the cathedral and city center.

Hotel was OK. Breakfast was average but cooked breakfast on last morning was unavailable and continental alternative hadn't turned up by time I had to leave to catch train hence a refund. Would have preferred the breakfast!!

Not sure why, but there are lots of Seagulls around the hotel, perhaps because where my room is located that I could hear them being very vocal very early in the morning ! It would be good to know if any other rooms had any similar noise problems ?!

Room was quite nice, comfortable bed, plenty of power sockets, lights and was spacious. Bathroom was not so. The shower was off the bath taps, poor water flow and intermittent temperature. One of the sink taps was dripping which wastes water.

Very tired hotel.

Lovely old fashioned hotel. Doesn’t have the modern conveniences, but it more than makes up for that in old school charm.

The communal areas were very nice with a good bar (though personally it wcould have benefited from a craft beer or 2 rather than lagers and traditional ales. The room was a little dated and the bed a bit too firm for me but in the grand scheme these are relatively minor points to an overall good stay and we would stay again if we were to return to Hereford.

Stayed for a work trip. The food and drinks on offer at the hotel were great, especially breakfast. The staff were lovely, especially the lady on reception who was very friendly and helpful when I had issues checking in with a credit card. Lots of space to hold informal business meetings with my colleagues. Parking needed to be paid for separately but still very convenient in the middle of the town centre. Some colleagues mentioned that they could hear seagulls calling in the night but I couldn’t - possibly worth packing earplugs but it may just have been where their rooms were located in the hotel.

The Hotel Manager was away. It was a busy time. A Welcome Letter was given which says that you can speak to reception for help who would be delighted to assist. When I spoke to reception, I was told the information was in the Welcome Letter. I got more of a 'welcome' from the letter than the people.

Having grown up in Hereford my expectations were high given its historical reputation. We stayed on Monday the 25th and found our room (209 )and general decor to be old and tired and stuck in a time capsule and therefore overpriced for £120 we paid

Very happy with our stay. Staff very friendly and bedrooms very clean. Lovely selection for breakfast. Central for everything. Overall very pleased we choose to stay here. Will definitely stay here again when in Hereford.
