Hotel Academia is in the perfect place for visiting Zagreb. VERY close to all sorts of restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing! The provided breakfast is great. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The room itself was very large and the bed was very comfortable. The young man that checked us in late at night was very friendly and welcoming and provided a great experience, as did everyone else we spoke to during our stay. What we didn't like is that there is a weird chemical/mixed with musty smell in the lobby. This also carries into the rooms, and the rooms are carpeted so the humidity and must just linger and provide an unpleasant smell. Also, there is no flat sheet with the bedding so you HAVE to cover youself with the comforter. The comforter wasn't washed and smelled like body odor and was gross. Also, the air conditioning in the room is covered by the desk and so it doesn't really do much to cool the room off.

I frequently travel to Zagreb and have made it a point to stay at this hotel due to its ideal location and dog-friendly policy. The convenience it offers, along with the accommodating environment for my furry companion, makes it my preferred choice each time. During my most recent visit, I encountered an issue upon entering my room—a noticeable moldy smell, which I soon discovered was due to mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. Concerned about this, I promptly notified the front desk. The staff member I spoke with handled the situation with remarkable professionalism and courtesy. Without hesitation, she upgraded me to a better room, demonstrating a level of customer service that is commendable and should be a standard across all hospitality establishments. This experience reaffirmed my belief in the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction, and I truly appreciate their prompt response to my concern. Despite the minor setback, my overall stay was enjoyable, and I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent service, great location, and pet-friendly atmosphere.

Perfect location

I liked the room, new , the only thing similar to an hotel. The rest of the hotel is squalid , the entrance is an abandoned shopping center, the carpet dirty. Fortunately it is in an amazing position to visit Zagabria.

The staff was very helpful and professional. The room we were in was very quiet, which allowed us to get the much needed rest. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely consider staying here again in the future. We had an outstanding experience overall.

Great location and great staff. So helpful and place was very clean . Walking distance to shopping and dining street that goes on forever , a trip around the world in cuisine available with gelato and ice cream of course .

The hotel was a great surprise. We booked at the last minute as we were driving through Zagreb to another destination in Croatia and we chose it because of the central location: and we were indeed very happy with the location, it is right in the old centre, within minutes of whatever sight you may be interested in. The free underground parking was a wonderful perk. We had a very nice room, with a big terrace overlooking the central street. It was, nonetheless, very quiet and comfortable. The room and the bathroom were very clean, as was the entire hotel area. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again, especially since it is a pet-friendly hotel.

Convenient property located close to dining and sightseeing. Quiet room and quite large. Breakfast was ok but hot items were cold the second morning. Wanted to watch the BBCnews but told we would have to pay extra for that channel. Shower door pretty grimy.

Whenever I'm in Zagreb, I always stay at Hotel Academia. The location is incredibly convenient, as it's just a 5-minute walk to the main city square, Trg Bana Jelacica. What really sets this hotel apart is the amazing staff who always go the extra mile to ensure that guests are well taken care of and assist with everything from dining recommendations to taxi reservations.

The worst! The air conditioner didn't work and we were told there is nothing that could be done. End of discussion! so we were sent a fan that squeaked all night. We were lucky to get a total of 2 hours sleep between sweating like crazy or being kept up by the noise of the fan. We had no wifi in the room and were told it was due to the large wedding taking place therefore bandwith was low however the next morning we still couldn't access the internet....so more lies. The final part of this wonderful story....we borrowed a pair of scissors from reception and were told we could return the next day however while we were out for dinner, housekeeping came into our room and looked for it and removed it without any notice or discussion. If you value you privacy and want to get what you paid for - DO NOT STAY HERE

This hotel is in the heart of old town where most of the touristy spots are located and very walkable. Hotel is very clean, located in a very nice area and is close to bars and shops. Staff are very friendly and accommodating, our room is very spacious with a very spacious outdoor area overlook the old town. Breakfast is nice, you have variety for everyone. Would highly recommend this hotel.

We had only a 2 night stay in Zagreb so location was very important to us- this hotel is in a close and convenient location to city centre and sight seeing locations and a plethora of dining and bar options - easy walks everywhere. Our room was spacious with plenty of storage options and a good size bathroom. We travelled with a car and parking was underneath the hotel. Staff were great and the breakfast very enjoyable. Highly recommend this hotel.

Perfect location and parking. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was good. Location was at the beginning of the restaurant street with loads of bars and restaurants just outside the hotel front door. Both the old and new parts of town within easy walking distance.

We had a great stay at Hotel Academia. The location was outstanding being close to the event center where our business event was held as well as close to the central area of Zagreb. Our room was large, bright, and well lighted. Our bed was also extremely comfortable.
