The room was really lovely. It's aesthetically very pleasing – like how one imagines a colonial classic like Raffles in Singapore might be. The bed was very comfortable. The pool is picturesque and nice to use, too.

Whilst the staff member in Reception in the daytime and the main waiter at breakfast were very nice and professional, other staff had limited English and seemed clueless. The staff member in Reception in the evening seemed both puzzled and panicked when I told him the Internet had stopped working (surely that's not the first time this had happened in this country!). The AC stopped working in the morning – but it was more trouble that it was worth to try and get it fixed. Breakfast was pretty poor – given the good French bakeries in Laos, you'd expect better croissants than these. The scrambled eggs with cheese were so bad I sent them back (I assume it was either cheap or bad cheese). Laos is not an easy country to visit, so despite a few shortcomings, this hotel is probably the place to stay if you are going to the capital. I've described issues not to put people off but to help manage expectations.

The food was delicious and every care was taken to make our stay comfortable.

Restaurant is quite expensive

I loved it! Shady courtyard with a pool, there's a place to hide from the sun in the midday. Perfect cuisine. The well-groomed building, the carefully scrubbed floors gave us a special pleasure. Besides, I would like to mention the manager of the hotel, we watched him teaching the staff with great pleasure.

Absolutely microscopic size of the bath robes... I'm not too fat, but the robe edges don't fit together :)

The building itself is very nice and well maintained. The garden and the pool really classic, very nice. Location is central.

The rooms smell damp, in my opinion caused by the large cabinets which house minbar etc. Breakfast pretty simple for such a hotel, not really exciting, selection of fruits rather limited, juices not fresh. Staff is helpful and friendly, but could certainly improve a bit their English
