This is our second stay at Zar Culiacan and have again found the staff to be very helpful and polite. The only downside is the surrounding properties - it is an industrial area (although a large mall is close) and consequently the area is not very visually appealing. What you make up for in proximity to the highway, you lose in visual attractiveness. We would definitely stay here again as an overnight stopover.

Just off the toll highway heading south. Not close to the center of Culiacan. The staff were very helpful and friendly and despite my very limited Spanish, and staff with minimal English we were able to communicate. There is a fairly large mall near the hotel, and would be an easy walk if not for the absence of sidewalks and the need to walk along a fairly busy roadway.

I just needed to sleep and continue the trip back home. The beds were squekee and loud. Only gave me two shower towels. No hand towels or floor mat. The bathroom floor will get wet with shower.

Hotel was fine. Mattresses a bit hard but everything was clean. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was simple but a good price. There is a shopping mall within walking distance. Parking is open and no secure but we had no issues.

Everything was ok except the staff was really loud in the morning yelling at each other across the front hall at 6 o’clock in the morning. Their voices really carried.

Horrible horrible. Hey could not find my reservation for an hour. After giving me my room, the restroom floor was completely flooded.

I am very disappointed with this place and I was honestly in high hopes of it!
1) I arrived to check in and THEY FORGOT to reserve the double-bed room I had reserved 2 weeks prior
2) The young lady went out of her way and gave me 2 rooms instead BUT one room was bed-less! So she had to place me in another room (again)
3) My shower handle (room 102) was broken. I had to tweak it to get it to work since she had mentioned they were very short staffed and I was exhausted I didn’t even bother asking for help again!
4) There’s no blankets on bed, just a plain sheet (as seen on pic, it’s a sheet not a blanket)
5) The overnight people had the TV in the lobby (which our rooms were next to) FULL BLAST with the soccer game. I initially thought it was an event or something in the meeting room because of how loud it was, cheering, screaming and the game comentators full blast! I realized it was the game until we were heading out at 4AM
After driving 12 hours that was the last thing we needed! We end up leaving at 4AM and I am NEVER staying here again! I’d rather drive a few minutes further into Culiacan center and stay elsewhere.

Hard beds, very ugly old bathroom, far from everything. Good customers services but very poor quality hotel.

The shower clogs and leaks water everywhere!!!! It was clean but needs ALOT of updating and maintenance!

The power to the hotel went off around 2 am. It was very uncomfortable since we are not used to the heat. We did not sleep well and were very tired the following morning. Unsure if hotel had an overload or what.

We were greeted by not just one, but two large cockroaches. The airconditioning didn't work well and if you needed a glass - even if it was a plastic one - you had to go down to the Reception and request it!
Won't be staying here again.

Located off of main highway but room looked like no one had not stayed there in a while and therefore had not been cleaned in a while

We were pleasantly surprised with the updates in March, 2018 compared to our stay in December, 2017.

the hotel was hosting the rooster festival, so it literally had living animals in the rooms, around 3am roosters started singing i thought it was the neighbors, until i went to get some breakfast, my room was at the end of the hall as i waled by towards the restaurant all doors where wide open, my surprise was every single room had at least 7 roosters, can you imagine trying to sleep with over 500 roosters!!! hotel should it post it, send an email or something, we had to move to a different hotel, no hesitation, found better price, commendation and location.

We arrived late in the day and left early in the morning. The restaurant was not open but the staff was helpful in ordering food for us. We usually stay in hotels with more amenities but this stay was ok as we were there for only a brief overnight stay. The hotel is close to the highway so it worked for us.

the hotel was convenient, as we were traveling, but very noisy. Beds were very hard, No one spoke any English, which surprised me as Culiacan is a big stopover for gringo travelers. I have some Spanish so it was not a big problem, but a bit frustrating. Whatever they clean the floors with made them very slippery. But it was clean and convenient.

need to ask for towel, internet signal is week, but cant argue for the price. Afterall, this is a halfway over-night stop for a 1000 km trip.

Some of the things that I remember:
I tried to have dinner in the hotel restaurant but it closes very early, and there are no other restaurants around 4 miles, not good if you do not have a car.
Power in the room, and cable worked on and off.
I couldn't sleep late as I needed to because the cleaning crew yelled in the mornings and knocked on all doors by 9am asking for dirty towels. It was loud enough they woke us from ten rooms away.
No hot water in the shower, I had to ask them to fix it, and they did.
You can get something better for this price in a better location.

I base my high ratings on the value received. This is a very inexpensive hotel and you do get what you pay for.
Our room was large and clean. We were on the top floor with low water pressure. When we checked in we had to ask for towels, toilet paper and two light bulbs. All were brought right away.
The mini-split did a great job of maintaining temperature and the TV and channel selection were great. Very quiet and convenient for us.
