What a terrific place to stay. We used it as a home base to travel from for beach trips, shopping, and hiking. Nice and comfortable.

We had a lovely stay at the Birdhouse. Located in Los Osos, it is centally located and a short trip to Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. It is quite ideal for a couple. The hosts were wonderful.

We went on a college tour trip and ended at this beautiful place. Hosts were friendly, helpful and welcoming. We really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and taking in nature outside.

Jim and Mini are so welcoming and made our trip for my birthday so special. They welcomed us with a bottle of wine from a local vineyard for my birthday when we arrived and sent us home with lemons and apples from their garden! The guest house was clean and very comfortable, and our dog loved being able to do out in the back fenced area. The house is a short walk from a lovely bird sanctuary and we took an amazing bike ride to the local state park right from the house. We would definitely come back!!

Relaxing stay in Los Osos. Jim and Mini are wonderful hosts. Very clean accommodations. Very quiet. Had our little dog with us and he enjoyed it too. There's a small area that's fenced in where your dog can go out and go potty, which is convenient. My wife and I and our dog all had a very nice time.

It was so quiet and peaceful. It almost felt like we were in the mountains. I loved hearing the birds. The hosts were most gracious and welcoming. They added lots of little touches that made the stay most comfortable including having my favorite brand of coffee with half and half.

This is a wonderful, quiet and peaceful place to stay. The host/owners are very hospitable. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood. if you love the outdoors and get him into nature, it’s a 10 to 20 minute drive to all kinds of scenic environments. The highlight for us was looking at otters off the pier at the Embarcadero in Morro Bay. we highly recommend this place.

I had a lovely time staying here. The hosts thought of every detail down to blankets and slippers for cold nights. They also have a comfy reclining chair perfect for reading. The place is spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay here again.

Both Jim and Minnie(Mini) were the perfect host from arrival until we left, from accommodations to resources, food and conversation. Jack, our pup was most comfortable. Gracias Jack and Minnie(Mini) went above and beyond what I anticipated from a host. Such a charming house and location, perfectly nestled in a back lot of their property . It was the best place to have a weekend of pure RnR, especially after competing in the local Ironman event. Jim and Minnie(Mini) were full of great positive energy, very kind and a wealth of knowledge. Jim has every aspect of how to enjoy your stay in Morro Bay on his website, making it so easy to find things to do, places to visit/eat that cater to every interest. It was definitely a godsend that we found this nice perfect retreat. It was meant to be. Oscar, Grace and little Jack 🐶 🐾

Everything was perfect, even better than described! The hosts add all sorts of wonderful touches like real half and half for the coffee and fluffy blankets by the couch. We will definitely be back.

We loved our stay! Cozy and perfectly located to explore the Central Coast. Within walking distance to south end of Morro Bay. That bed was awesome!!!! Slept sooooo well! Thick, absorbent bath towels and shower products provided (shampoo, conditioner, body wash). The property was well-maintained and very tidy and pretty. Oh! And the beautiful artwork (photography) on the walls! We surely plan to visit again.

I am a big fan of the Birdhouse concept. The hosts focus on natural history is a unique and really great reason to choose this accommodation. The bed is very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Our stay at Jim and Mini’s bird house was wonderful. We were there for two days, and it was a very cute property adjacent to their house and farm. In addition to the very comfortable home space, with a lovely collection of books on Californian wildlife, there was a beautiful outdoor seating space which played host to a number of beautiful birds, and a wonderful vegetable farm. To top it off, they were great hosts with wonderful tips on how to best explore the area. We would totally visit again if we had the chance.

Lovely spot for watching birds, convenient to local trails and good area to walk around out the front door. Nice quiet area. Space was well appointed for the few days we visited. Hosts were welcoming and great.

We only needed a place to sleep while in town for a tournament but would definitely return if we get to the area again and would love to spend more time exploring the area.

We were very pleased to find this rental for the weekend while we were visiting Los Osos for a friend's wedding. What a cute and comfy unit! Nothing like 2 conservationists to host you: people for the earth using their rental space as an opportunity to make a difference with others. Jim and Mini have created a beautiful and thoughtful unit with all the amenities you need for a relaxing getaway. The art in the home is all of Jim's photography, and it is gorgeous. There have a wonderful patio space in the front and back for reading or having your morning coffee. The hosts were very gracious: they greeted us with a walk through of the unit and were available for any questions or needs during our stay. And the best is if you can sit and listen to the amazing journey of these 2 biologists (Ornithologist and DVM) and the impact they have made in the world. The location is close to town and also walking distance to the water. For food/drinks, the hosts have a detailed list of recommendations - we enjoyed Wayward Baking, The Old AleHouse, and Nautical Bean on the bay, all within 10 mins of this great spot to stay. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway - this is it. It was a pleasure to meet Jim and Mini and we hope to visit again!

We found this the perfect home base for exploring Morro Bay. The hosts are professional wildlife biologists and photographers, they directed us to really good birding hotspots and tidepools. The property had landscaping to attract wildlife including a hummingbird garden and butterfly garden and the accommodations were super clean and comfortable.
