Guayacan Retreat was a real surprise. We were staying nearby in the city of Granada - and decided to adventure out to Laguna de Apoyo. The view was magical. We were high enough up to see the Laguna - a huge, hidden volcanic lake , Mombacho volcano and the city of Granada with Lake Nicaragua gleaming in the background. The temperature was much cooler than Granada - so a bit of an escape. The buildings and rooms are a class act - beautifully designed, native woods, stone, and locally sourced tiles and furniture. Whoever designed the building, rooms and furnishings paid attention to details and understood the important of light, space, and integrating with nature. The beds and bathrooms were awesome. The setting was serene, staff more than attentive, and the food excellent. And only 20 minutes from Granada....
