Great location within walking distance to the ocean

We were greeted by Rishi at the front desk and I must say he was very welcoming, kind and friendly despite the fact we arrived after 10pm. A really pleasant surprise was that he had also very kindly upgraded our room for us! This was lovely after a 3 hour drive and we were very grateful. The room itself was lovely, quite spacious, we had our own private balcony, fireplace and we honestly weren't in need of anything (extra blankets were already provided if we needed them, and if we were too warm there was a ceiling fan plus an extra fan in the cupboard). The bathroom was very clean and tidy and the bed very comfortable. The previous place we'd stayed had not offered the best sleep, so to sleep in a comfortable bed was very welcome! The hotel site and surrounding area was very peaceful and only a 5-10 minute walk from the sea. The parking was a little limited but again Rishi suggested where we could park overnight so that we wouldn't have to park too far down the road. Despite there currently being no breakfast room available, the breakfast options were very convenient and we were able to pop along and pick up whatever we needed and take it back to our rooms, or sit in the reception area. Seating and trays were also available here as well as an array of drinks options. We used the drinks machine to fill our bottles before heading out.

There was a small restriction on parking as the car park is not massive, but this also wasn't helped by the fact we arrived so late Thursday night meaning all of the spaces had been taken. Rishi however kindly suggested the best way of parking on the hotel site so that we didn't need to park further away. As many spaces became available the following morning we had no problems after this. He just requested that we move our car into an available space by 9am the next morning.

Location was wonderful, blocks away from the start of the scenic 17 Mile Drive, minutes from Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey and walking distance to the ocean. Owners were very nice and welcoming! We would definitely book again!

Beds were a bit hard and not very comfortable.

I loved the coziness of my room, being close to the beach and being very quiet at night.

Lovely quaint area with a beautiful sunset beach 5 minites walk away.

Breakfast is poor. It seems most motels/hotels in this price bracket really aren't interested in a decent breakfast offering if any at all.

We had a delightful stay at the Sunset Inn. We had a meeting at the Asilomar conference center and Sunset Inn was very close and convenient. The host is absolutely genuine and wonderful. Made us feel very at home.

Room was a little cool. But warmed up fine with gas fireplace.

It was very clean and looks just like the photo. It is just a quick drive to Carmel and Monterey. A walk down the street gets you to Asilomar beach where deer are out first thing in the morning. It was lovely to go for a walk along the boardwalk to take in the ocean, mist and fog. I asked the manager to turn on the fire table one evening, as it was very damp outside, but I still wanted to enjoy the outdoors. He did and others came outside to join in the warmth. I loved my stay here. ♥️

Beautiful location, clean, tidy. The staff could not of been more helpful. The rooms were tastefully decorated and clean. The bathroom was amazing. All in all would 100% recommend a stay here. Breakfast was excellent too.

Very friendly and welcoming host, beautiful location directly to the ocean. We had a balcony which we loved to take our breakfast there. Breakfast was easily fetchable in the reception desk/office.
