Beautiful accommodations! Fantastic, friendly staff. The location is amazing- near everything, yet tucked away so you can enjoy the peace & quiet. Absolutely love staying here!

Interior of our cabin was clean and comfortable. Shower was good. Free breakfast at the Apple Valley Cafe was delicious. Gift basket was a nice touch. Convenient to have a few dining choices on the property.
The grounds were well maintained but the exterior of the cabins just looked dark and dreary. Our cabin's back porch was full of cobwebs and no comfortable furniture. Nowhere good to relax outside. Too expensive to not have a pool or hot tub on the property. Some cabins do have a private hot tub but our unit did not. Asked for feather-free bedding but did not have request honored. Wifi did not work at all.

Beautiful cabins on a wooded hillside. The pictures don’t do it justice. While the restaurant was closed, the setting and menu looked outstanding.
Great welcome basket when we arrived
Truly is the quiet side of the Smoky Mountains when compared to Pigeon Forge.
Wished the restaurant was open— but totally understand they need a day off!

Very friendly staff, very clean and in a great location. Were very gracious about removing all the feathers from our room (allergies). And gave us delicious dining ideas. Would definitely stay again.

Great friendly staff, good breakfast. BUT.....we ate Christmas Eve dinner at the Appalachian Bistro at the Dancing Bear Lodge. The meal was wonderful, as expected, we have eaten there a couple of times before......however, after reviewing our credit card charge on-line, I saw that we were charged for a $66 bottle of wine that we did not order, plus the approximately $13 tip that resulted from the $66 charge. I know we should have caught this mistake upon checking out of the restaurant, but we didn't. I did call the restaurant and ask them to remove the charge and I understand why they did not......we can't prove we didn't drink the bottle of wine. But we didn't. So, just be aware and check your tab carefully.

this is a beautiful setting, and the cabin was wonderful and rustic, but with amenities. The Appalachian bistro was spectacular in appearance, and the food was amazing. The coffee Bean was spectacular and I love the fireplace is everywhere at this resort. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We loved the setting, very secluded yet everything you need is nearby. We had breakfast at the Apple Valley Cafe the first morning, and then did the Bluegrass Brunch at the Bistro the next morning. We were given two $10 breakfast vouchers for each night we stayed which we really appreciated! At the Apple Valley Cafe the food was very good. We both got large breakfast sandwiches and coffee, and with the breakfast vouchers we didn't owe anything. The Bistro was more expensive but we still got $10 off apiece, and it was definitely worth it. The bluegrass band was great and the buffet was top tier (shrimp and grits, sliced ribeye, biscuits and gravy, breakfast meats, eggs, fresh fruit, white chocolate bread pudding, etc. were all divine).
All that said, the highlight of the property by far was dinner at the Bistro. We went for a few drinks and dessert the first night and right away loved it. The bartenders were great, service and presentation was top tier. We went for dinner the next night to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. Dinner was delicious, the service and ambience were again excellent, and despite being somewhat pricey we both agreed the quality of the food and dining experience made it well worth it.
As for the room itself, the back porch was great to sit out on while we had morning coffee. I loved that there was a kitchenette, full size coffee maker with local artisan coffee provided, as well as coffee mugs, dishes, and silverware. The light in the rooms is great, tons of windows, and tasteful rustic chic decor.
We also enjoyed the outdoor apparel store in the little village. We bought a few items and as a promotion they gave us a $20 gift card which we were able to put towards our dinner at the Bistro. Overall, I would recommend Dancing Bear to any couple looking for a relaxed, romantic getaway.
The front of our room was all glass, floor to ceiling windows, which we liked. However, the blinds that gave us privacy were not in very good shape when we arrived. Several were torn, broken, unable to be opened/closed, or hanging awkwardly. I was able to fix them enough to gain some privacy, but given the price of the stay I was surprised to find them in that shape upon arrival. Had this not been the case, I would have rated 10/10.

Comfortable clean log cabin with fire place and hot tub surrounded by trees.

Our stay at this facility was a "Nightmare"
The duplex style lodge apparently had a wedding going on and the noise level next door was off the charts. Neighbors had the audacity to complain that we had been smoking in the room. That's a stunning statement from 2 nonsmokers. The staff was of NO help. The room had very little privacy and reminded me of a commercial property. We checked out next day and was given a gift certificate for another stay., after waiting on the manager to return at 1:50 PM to address the issues we had.
Why would we want to stay again?

Location is great. Breakfast was good also. At the check in cabin they have a coffee place that makes excellent coffee. The restaurant is great. Lots of things to do around. They have a bike lane in town so you can bike to places if you like.
The chairs on the balcony were not very comfortable. I would have love to sit in a nice comfy chair and drink my coffee or read a book.

We had a wonderful stay at The Dancing Bear Lodge! It’s a very special and fantastic lodge in Townsend. Our last stay was 14 years ago and we enjoyed it as much as the last time.
