beautiful location, very clean and well furnished.

Location in the middle of nowhere. close to Denali.

The room was large and had an extra twin bed in addition to our queen bed. A small kitchen counter that had a sink, microwave and small refrigerator. The sink in the kitchen was outside of the bathroom and was the only sink. Dishwashing liquid was provided and also in addition to coffee, a pack of microwave popcorn which I thought was a nice touch.

The office closed at 7:00p.m. and we arrived much later than we thought (about 10:30pm). I had contacted the office and they told me my room and that it was in the back of the lodge. It was pitch black, we found rooms 1-9 and walked around the back of room 9 but just saw the back of it and what seemed to be the back of the other rooms. I contacted the office again, and the women seemed slightly out of sorts (well it was 10:30pm) and said "I told you the room was in the back of the lodge". I said we couldn't locate it and she said it was behind room 1. Perhaps next time she could say in the back of the lodge behind room 1. Also there was a porch light which maybe could have been left on for late night arrivals.

They want to charge us extra for late check out because we didn't turn off heat when we leave (which no one said to do) and because we were just hanging around near the room (not inside the room at all). They were saying if you check out, you are suppose to leave leave. And because we were around, the housekeeper didn't want to bother us so she ended up didn't clean our room, which is the reason for the late check out fee because now she has to work over time to get all rooms cleaned. Like if she could just ask us or just go inside the room, we would just move aside because no one and nothing was inside the room; we did check out. Also they could have mentioned something about late check out fee if they are so tough about it and give us a heads up about it; we would have left the property immediately. No one said anything and then they were just like oh fyi you will get charged late check out fee. Just very bad service, location has nothing around except being close to denali national park. Recommend living somewhere else!

It was off the beaten path. Backwoods Lodge has had several famous celebrities stay there because it's a little off the beaten path and a true Alaskan experience!

The place was really nice. The rooms had everything you could possibly need. Very clean. The staff even folded our personal blankets when they cleaned the room!

The walls are a bit thin.

Comfortable well appointed with everything you need. Set slightly into the woods giving a peaceful still setting.
