Niets.

Bocatapada is near to paradise. Beautiful place, even more beautiful bungalow. Breakfast is super, dinner is possible but a little bit quiet. Very good service when our airco failed. Lots of birds on the property, due to the feedingtables.

The staff is very friendly and engaged, the view and the fresh air flow on the patio and the terace is really nice.

The location was magical. Particularly loved the outside bathroom. Fridge and coffee maker useful. Humming birds and iguana outside our windows. Amazing view. We went horse riding and on the boat trip. Really informative and excellent guides.
We had the Corteza room, which was next to the steps down to the river, so we had people walking past our windows. This only happened a couple of times but reduced our feeling of privacy.

Boat trip up the San Carlos river to the Nicaraguan border. Lovely local guide Alan, who also took us on a night hike in the jungle. All organised through the Lodge.

Absolut niets

Excellent service. The rooms are perfect and comfortable with a nice view of the river. Great breakfast. And a paradise for birdwatching. Macaws and many more. Augusto is a great host, and the owner, Alfonso, and his family will make you feel at home.

location right in nature. fantastic kayaking tour which we actually preferred over the boat trip. the road is now paved (as of April 2023) so very easy to get to in a 2WD.

wonderful place, good food and the boat tour with Christian was great!

The accommodation consists of three levels, the room at river bank level, a watchout platform halfway up the hill with convenient wooden couches and chairs and a feeding platform for birds and the reception area on top of the hill.
The room at the river bank gives a nice feeling of "immersion" into the wilderness.
Language issues of the staff made it difficult to communicate details, such as related to meals. The dinner itself we would not consider worth the money; next time we would look for alternatives elsewhere. Some of the room equipment was not functional (such as the shower); here the owner might want to put some more diligence into the necessary details which play an important role in perceiving the room as "ok'ish" or "wonderful", as this accommodation has definitely a very high potential for being a most romantic spot in the middle of the wilderness.

Beautiful, remote place near the river. Bird feeders on different spots on the property that attract many birds. Boat tour was nice as well. Outdoor shower and toilet, with hummingbirds flying around. Good beds. Excellent breakfast. Freddy was always smiling. Good spirits!
Portions for dinner a bit small.

I liked everything

big room with AC and excellent beds; shower in open air is a nice feature
Nothing. Only suggestion is to improve the access to the cabins and the parking, which can be a bit muddy after rain

Absolutely stunning lodge in the middle of nowhere. The views were directly to the river with an amazing and huge hammock to rest. But the best was the open toilette directly in the nature with an open shower.... a must experience! The prices are high (european prices) but it was worth it. We like off the beaten track places and this is one of them...
Prices are a little high!

It is in the middle of nowhere, very quiet. We were the only guests, it may have been due to that. The “centre” of the village is only a 5-minutes walk, don’t forget a flashlight. Here, you will find 3 restaurants (limited choice of food, they tell you what they can cook for you. No menu). The boot tour is amazing. The beds are comfortable, the room has air-conditioning although we did not use it. For dinner you have two choices, the food was delicious. Three options for breakfast, also very good. If you want to experience the real Costa Rica, you must go to this place.
Many guests complained about the bumpy road in previous reviews. I would say: relax, it is easy to drive to the the lodge with a 2x4 too. Take the time and enjoy the ride. Besides, you hear the monkeys, but don’t see them all the time ;-).

What a beautiful place to spend a few days in the Boca Tapada area! The room was amazing - we loved the view. Very friendly staff and great tours. Dinner was very good value for the money. We would definitely stay here again!

It was a lovely place, the staff was wonderful and the food was amazing. We loved staying at the lodge.
The lodge is amazing, but the road towards the place is bumpy and difficult to drive in the evening

We had an amazing time at the lodge! Boca Tapada is a great place and only few tourists come here. We did some nice tours by boat, foot and kayak with a great guide. The cabins are fantastic and the food at lodge is absolutely delicious! But best part is Juri and the staff - they are the best hosts you can imagine! Again thank you so much for everything!!!

Incredibly nice secluded location, were many comments about some difficulties with road, however last 14 kms are unpaved in very good condition, just go slower. Super nice and friendly staff. Impeccable clean. lots of birds and animals around. beautiful common rest area.

Service persons were very friendly and polite and responsiveness.
Especially the guide of boat trip (Christian) was really great and showed us a lot of animals though it was raining - we really recommend to go with him.
You need to test the breadfruit at the restaurant at boarder ti Nicaragua.

very nice lodge, nice surroundings.
milkshake road is fun for 10km after that you are happy to see the lodge

The owner and the entire staff were extremely helpful. The owner even offered to pick us up (given the fact that the lodge is a little hard to reach by public transport). The location of the room is right on the river. Open-air toilet and shower for some extra jungle fever. Room is spacious and impeccable, with AC and fridge, and a view on the river. The food is also great. They put out some bananas every day near the viewing platforms to attract a wide variety of birds (even toucans). They also offer great tours (river tours, kayak, walking tours, etc)
Nitpicking here, but even though the location is quite remote, there is a road right next to the lodge which can be a bit noisy.

Great location right on the river. nice bungalows, very clean, spacious with comfortable beds and loved the outside bathroom. Employees are all very nice and helpful. we booked 2 nights but added a night. such a peaceful place, highly recommend. The food was simple but fresh and tasteful.

This place was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. You 100% should go here, without a doubt!
- A beautiful lodge (photos don’t do it justice) in the middle of beautiful nature.
- A very clean room with an amazing outdoor bathroom, with a hot shower.
- Really chill terrace in front of the lodge with a view on the river and trees.
- You get a very big breakfast, which was amazing: eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit, coffee, juice.
- Sitting at breakfast you enjoy a beautiful scenery and lots of birds flying around.
- There is also a common hang out area (which we often had to ourselves) with relaxed hangout spots and great views.
- The people who are working here are the sweetest, they will help you with everything.
- You can do various tours. We did a boat tour over the river to the boarder of Nicaragua. Really awesome! We saw several crocodiles, leguanas and lots of birds, including the scarlet and green macaw, kingdriver and Collard Aracari!
We really miss this place!
