We really enjoyed our stay with three families at Casa Guarumo. Kenny G and Grace made excellent meals and helped clean, manage our stay, and recommended great activities. Playa Carrillo is the best beach. If you want a deep sea fishing adventure look up Captain Frank.

This is our second time staying at Casa Guarumo. We absolutely love Puerto Carrillo. The location is perfect for walks to the beach, or morning strolls. There are markets and a couple restaurants within walking distance. I would recommend d renting a car to visit nearby Samara. We however appreciate the quietness and low key atmosphere of Puerto Carrilllo. The house is gorgeous. It accommodated our party of 11 nicely. Each couple had a separate room with individual bathrooms so you never felt congested. Great open kitchen. Our kids spent hours in the pool. It’s a great set up. We will be back for sure next year. Highly recommend.

Casa Guarumo was a fun place to stay for our family of 10 adults and 9 kids. The location was ideal as it was a close walk to the grocery store and beach. Sergio was quick to respond to all our questions and needs. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need to cook for a large group.

This property more than met our expectations Xinia became part of the family and was a great cook. Pablo was friendly and super helpful. Book any tours with Xinia!

The entire house was exactly as photographed, beautiful, private and classy. A super relaxing house that was well ran. We had Xinia cook for us a few nights and breakfast. Her cooking was amazing! Mígale kept great care of the pool and the ladies cleaned daily, which helped with such a large group. I can’t state enough how great the supporting staff of the property are. I lost one of my diamond stud earrings at night. The next morning while the ladies were cleaning, I walked into my bedroom and saw it laying on the bench at the foot of the bed. I picked it up and asked where it came from as I lost it the night before. She found it under the bed while sweeping. I’m blown away and super appreciative at the honesty. Thank you Sergio & staff for making my parents 50th anniversary the trip of a lifetime with all of their kids and grandkids.

Just reterned from a stay with 4 familes. Accommodation amazing - very spacious and comfortable. Sergio and his team (Xenia and Walter) were terriffic and ensured everything was perfect. Would highly reccommend. Property has all mod cons, great kitchen and pool areas. Bedrooms are quiet and private with open plan living areas. So much wildlife can be seen just from sitting by pool! Great supermarket accross the road and fantastic Argentinian restaurant 5 min walk away. Beach is about a 15 min walk away.

7 minute walk to the beach - truly - I timed it. This is an awesome place that I would come back to in a heartbeat. If you are looking for crowds, dust, and over priced food - head to Tamagringo. Otherwise - if you want relaxation, monkeys, an uncrowded beach, and quiet - you can’t go wrong with Casa G!

This was a wonderful house for our small retreat. Sergio and his staff were quick to respond, accommodate and tend to any questions or needs that arose. The rooms were all lovely and the pool and common areas were also lovely. It's a short 10 min or less walk to the beach. We had a very nice stay!

My family recently stayed in Case Guarumo with 2 other families. We were 13 people in the house and there was plenty of room. The open layout of the house allowed for adults to have enough space to enjoy happy hour while the kids played for hours in the fabulous pool. The rooms were spacious, all with a private deck and private bathrooms. Most of the issues we had were taken care of immediately by Sergio. I really appreciated that he had our best interests in mind. We hired Xinia to cook our dinners for us, which was amazing. After a long day at the beach/day trip, the last thing we wanted to think about was dinner, so she did the groceries for us and had meals prepared when we returned. She does make amazing food. Overall, I would recommend this place and we will definitely return to Case Guarumo in the future.

My family and another stayed here for 10 days in March and absolutely loved the property. I didn’t personally meet Antonio, but he greeted the other family upon arrival. Xinia, the housekeeper was amazing, warm and friendly. She cooked dinner for all 10 of us one evening and even the picky kiddos loved it! The house is conveniently located close to a small store and nearby restaurants. You can walk to the beach, but we found it so simple to drive. Thanks to Antonio and staff for keeping the pool clean every day. Having a pool at the house was wonderful. Even though the temperatures were 90 degrees (F) every day, we stayed cool on the patio. We spent most afternoons and evenings out there. It truly was an amazing place to stay and I can’t recommend it enough! Gracias, Antonio and Xinia! We hope to come back again!

We very much enjoyed staying at Sergio’s house in Playa Carrillo! A wonderful place to stay to celebrate a 60th birthday with a small group of family and friends! The house is spacious, kitchen is easy to use and large enough for several to maneuver within, two refrigerators very useful, the pool was absolutely stunning and our favorite area to relax, and the landscaping very nicely done, …everything was so beautiful! The house is very functional with comfortable beds, each with its own bathroom, individual adjustable air conditioner, and ceiling fan. The rest of the house did not have air conditioners but the ceiling fans inside and on the deck were adequate for coolness and comfort. All linens and towels for home and pool use are provided. House cleaning and care included and we were able to arrange a date and time so it wasn't everyday to to have someone come - so we had some privacy. Two beach chairs are also available for the beach (and very comfortable.) But palm trees also provide shade. The open design of the dining and living room with TV and cable were fantastic. Large glass doors open on to the outside pool area - although the littler door was easier to slide open compared to the bigger one. There is a nicely shaded wood deck area where we did some morning exercises (yoga, and stretching). Sometimes the ants did their exercises with us -:) There is also a convenient outdoor shower and bathroom. We walked every morning on an easy short walk slightly downhill to wonderful Playa Carrillo with its open, non crowded , nice beach, warm waters, and could rent chairs and umbrellas. The sunsets were nice to watch. We found the nearby stores convenient and reasonable. We did rent a car, very useful in traveling around the area - which we would recommend. But if not, there are buses, you just need to get the schedule. We often headed to Samara a very short drive - for dinner, drinks, and shopping at the bigger food market. Toured with local vendors on various adventures (loved the "dolphin trip" where we saw humpback whales and so many pilot whales.) Traveled to nearby Oro River, kayaked during high tide, and visited the ARA project where they help MaCaws. The House is a comfortable, nice place to stay - especially with close friends and family. Saw monkeys, iguanas, birds etc……we hope to return for another celebration one day soon. Thank you Sergio, and Xinia too!

We had a wonderful stay at the property. We enjoyed every aspect of the property and had a great time exploring Carrillo and Samara. The house is a great base for exploring the area.

We love Costa Rica and we cannot speak fondly enough of the experience at Casa Moderna/Guanomo. The place was perfect for our family reunion. It slept all 20 of us comfortably for an entire month and the staff are wonderful, caring people with an attentive eye and a beautiful customer serving spirit. The house is truly the place pictured in the photos and the area is peaceful and serene. Clean, spacious, safe, well-kept! Not too far from town and Playa Carrillo beach. But close enough to walk to the local grocery store, the church and small cafes, and restaurants for a home cooked meal. All of which were important to the success of our stay. In addition, the swimming pool was immaculately kept on a daily basis. The gardens and courtyard areas as well. The housekeeping was never missed including staff providing additional tasks not included such as help with breakfast and laundering. Seeing is truly believing at Casa Moderno / Guanomo. Our group of 10 had plenty of space in this home. Manager was attentive to our questions prior to arrival. The onsite property manager and housekeeper were helpful with answers and suggestions. The home, pool and property were clean. Kitchen was spacious and had all the necessities to cook meals. Small supermarket is about 1 block away, and has sufficient groceries/beer/wine/liquor to make your stay comfortable. Evenings were awesome in the pool. Bedrooms all had air condition and comfortable beds to get a good night's sleep. Mornings were our favorite, and we woke to howling monkey calls that we got to see in the surrounding trees. We didn't walk to the local beach, because we had a rental car, but its definitely not too far to walk. We also hired a couple of fishing boat charters, which were waiting on the water about 1 mile away from the house. And the town of Samara, which is a 10 min. drive has great restaurants, bars and a wonderful beach as well. Overall great stay, and great location in the town of Carrillo. We would definitely stay again! Thank you for answering all of our questions and concerns, and letting us enjoy your beautiful home!

Every detail was watched out for. It looks like a massive New York loft set in the jungle. Recently fully renovated and remodeled, this home is gorgeous. The pool is its core but rest assured linens and pillows are just as fabulous. They've even thought about beach bags for your use while on property. Only 3 minutes from the beach of Carrillo and 15 from Samara, your not only perfectly located but totally embraced by a beautiful home and scenery.

Everyone loved the beautifully designed spaces, completely outfitted modern kitchen, gorgeous pool, stunning gardens…everything was so beautiful! The house is elegantly functional with multiple very comfortable beds in all 5 bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. One bedroom is a private casita with a lovely bathroom located at the end of the pool area. All bedrooms are equipped with individually controlled air conditioning. All linens and towels for home and pool use are provided. Multiple fans everywhere make the house cool and comfortable. The spacious great room includes dining and entertaining areas with a fantastic sound system. Large glass doors open on to the stunning pool area with deck chairs and a lovely shaded wood deck area. Outdoor dining and entertaining areas are completed by the barbeque with outdoor bar, and the covered gazebo is designed for dining and lounging. There is also a convenient outdoor shower and washroom. A short walk to the dazzling Playa Carrillo with its warm waters and gentle waves, there are also nearby stores and restaurants. We loved going to the beach and then jumping into the beautiful pool upon our return to the house. The whole house gave us lots of opportunities to visit, talk and laugh. Such a comfortable, luxurious place to stay. Just great for a big family or a bunch of friends……wish we were still there!

I brought a group of 13 students and 3 additional chaperones to Sergio's house and from the first communication to the last minutes before leaving the entire process was flawless. Finding a house that not only accommodates a group of 17, but does it well, has proven to be very difficult and we couldn't have asked for a better rental. The house has a great lay out that allows for shared communal space and down time when one needs it. The kitchen was well equipped and were able to prepare and serve three meals a day to our entire group with ease. The pool area is beautiful and has lots of seating for everyone. The house has a great location, minutes from the beach and close to small supermarkets and restaurants. Thank you SO MUCH, we are extremely grateful for our long weekend at your house and we HIGHLY recommend it.
