Bright Penthouse With Terrace On Via Maqueda, In The Heart Of The City

Massimo, our host, was very helpful. Our ferry from Naples arrived early but Massimo was willing to get up early and meet us at the property, which was lovely and well-equipped. He gave us multiple suggestions about food and fun, and was overall a perfect host.

Amazing property, centrally located to everything in the city center. Wonderful host who was easy to communicate with, and greated us upon arrival to do a walk through of the apartment. Will stay here again when we return to Palermo!

Lovely apartment, noisy neighbourhood
The apartment is beautiful and spacious, as described. It is very close to the train station on the via Maqueda. Its location means that there is quite a bit of street noise. I specifically asked Massimo about this, and was assured that it wouldn't be a problem, as the bedrooms are at the back of the apartment. Both the person with whom I shared the apartment and I, however found that there was just as much street noise in the bedrooms as in the living room at the front of the apartment. We both had to sleep with the windows closed and with ear plugs. In addition, some kind of electrical unit sits on the side of the building right beside the living room wall; we could hear the hum of that machine all day and night. Despite these drawbacks, we did like the apartment which is spacious and centrally located. I just wish I had been told that in fact noise is an issue when I specifically inquired about it.

Great apartment in great location
This apartment is perfectly located in the middle of the old city, within a few minutes of all the major historical attractions. Massimo was an excellent host, it is well worth getting him to meet you as the main door to the building is not easy to find first time. The 99 steps to the flat door can be tiring, but they help to work off the great food that is all around. The whole apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped. My only slight negative comment is that the air conditioning is available at an extra cost, which is not mentioned in the listing. We didn't need it but some people would want to know this before.

This condo is a special place in Palermo. Everything was just prefect, we were just 2 but more than enough space for 4 people. Just like the people before wrote a perfect patio to sit a sip some extremely good wine after a day of walking around. The location is easy walking to all the tourist spots. Massimilano was a great host and couldn’t do enough for us his suggestions for restaurants were tremendous. I would highly recommended this property 5 stars. David and Wendy KEdmonton, Alberta Canada

Wonderful stay with warm welcome!
We loved our stay at this great property. Massimo’s brother met us and was extremely kind and helpful, offering us a cold drink and restaurant recommendations. The condo was beautiful and with great views. Would definitely stay again!

Stayed 6 nights with my husband and 3 teens (age 10, 14 and 15) in June 2018.Massimo’s greeting was exceptional, it felt like staying at a family’s friend. The flat was super clean and equipped with everything we needed. You have to be confortable with stairs however, sometimes after a day walking around the city it seemed like the four-five flights of stairs were higher and higher! We enjoyed the proximity to the Market, Via Makeda and main attractions. We even rented a car for a few days and enjoyed closeby local beaches that were a lot less crowded than Modello or Cefalu. Loved Palermo and Sicilia, and definitly recommend renting this place.

Spacious apartment with 2 large bedrooms, large living room and a wonderful terrace. After long, hot days we spent our evenings on that cool terrace with food and wine. Excellent location for visiting old Palermo and you can’t get a nicer or more helpful host than Massimo. Grazie mille!

Grazie Massimo
Massimo's apartment was everything I hoped it would be. Centrally located in the historic area of Palermo and close to a large market just around the corner. The apartment had enough room for the four of us and the balcony was perfect for afternoon/evening wine and cheese. Also the train station was just a few minutes walk and trains are so easy. We went to Cefalu in only 50 minutes. Massimo was most helpful and had lots of information at his apartment more than any other of the five places we rented. There were lots of restaurants close by. I would highly recommend a stay here. Small caveat there are four flights of stairs up to the apartment so pack lightly although Massimo carried our bags for us...grazie mille Massimo you were a gracious host. We would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable apartment, great location, great host
Had a great stay, Massimiliano was the perfect host, lovely apartment in the historic centre, major attractions accessible by foot, Ballaro market very close too, as is the main train station. Great views from the apartment (fourth/top floor so you get used to climbing a few stairs). Would definitely recommend.

Best place to stay in Palermo
Found Francesco's appartement to be spacious, clean, well equipped and all around great. The location is absolutely superb, walking distance of 5 short minutes to a huge market with all the fresh fruits and vegetables, 10-15 minutes walking to the opera house or the Cathedral, etc. Car is definitely not necessary evnthough we had rented one wich we never used once. We thurely enjoyed our 7 days in Palermo. Can't say enough about Francesco, he was extremely helpful in guiding us to see the various spots in Palermo, restaurants, etc. He greeted us with a nice bottle of wine, helped with bringing our luggages up to the apartment and back to our car. We would strongly recommend this appartement.

Would highly recommend.

Perfect break without a car
We enjoyed 7 nights in this lovely restored apartment and we quickly felt at home. Massimo and his Wife were extremely friendly and helpful. We speak no Italian but managed all essential communication with them just fine. They arranged our transfers to and from the airport and helped us carry our luggage upstairs too. The apartment has lots of character and the photos you see are a true reflection of the accommodation on offer. The beds were so comfortable. The historic city and shopping facilities can be explored on foot thanks to the location of the apartment . If you want to cook at home there is a food market a couple of streets away and supermarkets close by. Massimo can recommend restaurants if you need. We used local buses to travel to Monreale and Mondello. We took a train to Cefalu. There are plenty of guide books in the apartment. We enjoyed a brilliant week.

A stylish and secure rooftop home
Brilliant location. Easy walking distance to all the sights in the centro storico and railway station/bus station for getting out of town. Comfortable accommodation, with a roof terrace that allows you to be part of the hustle and bustle in the streets below but serenely detached from it. We loved the street market on our doorstep and the delicious local produce. Self catering was great fun as was eating out. Massimo was a charming host and quick to sort out a brief problem we had using the key. He provided an efficient and good value transfer to and from the airport, ideal for our late night arrival. He has pride in his flat and rightly so as it is a superb restoration. We would definitely encourage family and friends to visit.

Little bit of paradise in the city
When we arrived in palermo we were surprised at how grimy the area around the station was and to find ourselves just 5 mins from the area we were wondering what we had let ourselves into, but lo and behold once we had found the apartment everything changed.
The interior of Massimos apartment was amazing the pictures didn't do it justice,he to, U.S. Out on to the little balcony where he offered us cold drinks which were greatly recieved .after showing us around his beautiful apartment and trying to explain in our little Italian and his little English we had understood one and another to an extent.the apartment had a very good lay out as we were given the back bedroom which was quiet so had a great sleep would recommend paying for the air con as it was very humid at all times, the bathroom and kitchen were very clean and well equipped .Massimo had a lovely loung with plenty of tourist info and plenty of seating areas the little terrace out front was good for a meal and a chill with a good wine,we certainly enjoyed our selves and were presently surprised with what Palermo had to offer once again thank you very much for your lovely apartment and especially the gifts that you left for us .
Will certainly be recommending this little gem to friends.

Thanks Massimo!
We had a wonderful stay in Massimo's apartment. It is located within easy walking distance of all the wonderful sights and sounds of the old town of Palermo and just a short walk from the station if you want to take trips out of town during your stay. You really can get everywhere either on foot or public transport. It is very close to the Ballero market which is a great place to experience local Palermo life and buy some wonderful produce for dinner.
Massimo is a lovely host and is so friendly and welcoming. He was a font of local information with great recommendations for places to see and restaurants and bars to try out. Our Italian and his English aren't great but we still understood everything. He was also kind enough to take us to the airport at the end of our stay very early in the morning and at very short notice.
The apartment itself is very clean, light and airy and benefits from being on the top floor. Massimo renovated a few years ago and there are some interesting photos in the apartment of the work in progress which show the love and care he put into the project. The outside terrace is also a great bonus and we enjoyed having an aperitif sitting out watching the swallows before heading out for dinner. The free wi-fi was also an great bonus.
We would really recommend visiting Enoteca Picone for a drink and the entrance to the Vucciria market for street food. A day trip to Monreale is really worth it but just watch out for the bus times and make sure you find the right stop for the bus back to Palermo or you could get stranded!
As long as you don't have any mobility issues (the apartment is on the top floor and up about five flights of stairs) then we would thoroughly recommend the apartment to everybody thinking of spending some time in Palermo.

Perfect apartment in the heart of Palermo
Massimo has a beautiful, traditional apartment right in the hub of the city. All of the modern facilities are there. Air con in the bedrooms and all that you need in the kitchen.
The location on Via Maqueda is perfect for exploring Palermo.
If you want to self cater, the best food market is literally 3 minutes around the corner in Ballaro market. The most wonderful fresh food every day.
Try the "street food"! From arrancini to wonderful pasta dishes. Our favourite was at the entrance to Vucciria market.
Massimo is a wonderful host. He wants you to have the best time in his home city and has some great tips for eating out and sight seeing.
Don't look any further. If you want to stay in Palermo - this is the place.

Great Appartment
The apartment is in the middle of the old city and is ideal for exploring the local markets, restaurants and bars. It is 10 minutes from the train station, where buses to the local attractions and airport also run from.
The apartment is very modern, spacious and well equipped and Masimo is extremely helpful. There are quite a lot of stairs but if you are reasonably fit it should be fine.

Great location
We flew to Catania as the Easy Jet flights were half the cost of Ryan Air, then got the bus (two and a half hours, good coach, loo on board, air con, 15 euros each) bus stopped in central rail station in Palermo, the apartment is a short walk straight down the road from the station.
Apartment very good, clean, good cooker, fridge, heating, Wi-Fi. Massimo very helpful. Walking distance to all the sights. We had a great stay.

Modern, comfortable apartment
This is an apartment that has a lot to offer. We wanted to be able to see historic Palermo and to travel in the region to other places (Monreale: Cefalu etc.) and the location was perfect, with both buses and trains so very close. The flat itself has been recently modernised. It is clean, very well maintained and comfortable. The owner was extremely helpful (and tolerant when we arrived late because our plane was delayed). It is also quite quiet - arriving as a pair of exhausted Brits, we slept very peacefully. Our only word of warning - if you arrive with a lot of luggage, you had better be fit as this one is on the top floor and, while offering splendid views over the rooftops of the old city, it is quite a climb.

Great apartment
This apartment was perfect for our week's stay in beautiful Palermo. Situated in the heart of the old city, it is very comfortable and well equipped. It's really conveniently located for seeing the city and is lovely to come back to after a busy day's sightseeing. Massimo was very efficient, helpful and friendly. He always did what he said he would do when he said he would do it and even carried our heavy suitcases up and down all the stairs! Thank you Massimo.

A fantastic apartment in a great city
We really couldn't fault the apartment or the care we got from Massimo the owner. The apartment is beautifully presented and maintained with two really nice bedrooms, an excellent living room and a lovely terrace with great views. Wi-Fi pretty quick too. We didn't cook for ourselves at all - why would you when the Sicilians do it so much better? - but if we'd wanted to, the kitchen was well equipped. Massimo couldn't have been more helpful - our arrival flight was delayed by an hour or so, but that was no problem and he even drove us to an area with lots of restaurant choice after he'd finished showing us how everything worked. The weather was glorious - unusually so - which meant we made the most of the terrace and just walking around enjoying the atmosphere. The apartment location is also good - very central and only about 5-10 minute's walk from Bar Touring which Massimo recommended to us and which became our local for coffee, cakes, late night drinks and the unmissable arancini. All in all, great value, great apartment and a very warm welcome - just be aware there are lots of stairs so wouldn't work for very small children or anyone struggling with mobility. But on the plus side, the exercise going up the stairs every time you come back just about compensated for the pasta and wine calorie intake!

I spent a week there with a view to sleep, read, relax and to see Palermo and northern Sicily.
The flat is perfectly located in the medieval heart of Palermo. The extensive market is a 30 second walk from the flat and the train and bus terminal is a few hundred metres down the road.
The flat itself is lovely inside with a balcony that catches the sun in the morning. I ate in most evenings and the kitchen had all the mod cons.
Massimo is a very friendly chap, who left me a lovely bottle of Nero d’Avola (the best Sicilian wine in my view) as a welcoming gift. Due to the general lack of any real tourist information and bus timetables in Sicily, Massimo was very helpful in pointing me in the right direction and advising me on things to see.

My husband and I (with our 16 year old son), stayed in this wonderful apartment to celebrate my 50th birthday. Massimo was warm, charming and welcoming making us feel at home the minute we walked in the door. Communication was always excellent and this made our trip easy to organise. Massimo always replied to emails very promptly and was able to provide excellent advice when we were there. The apartment was light and airy, well equipped and very spacious, with new furniture and the beds were very comfortable. The terrace was lovely for eating outside and we had great temperatures for late October. The apartment is ideally placed for visiting Palermo with the virbant Ballarò market just round the corner. The station is 5 minutes walk (easy to catch a train to Cefalù and other nearby towns) and the Teatro Massimo is about 10 mins walk (lots of great restaurants nearby ). The neighbourhood is very safe with lots of interesting cheap jewellery shops, which I enjoyed browsing! Great value for money – probably the best in Palermo. We would highly recommend the apartment and plan to return next autumn/early winter to take advantage of mild temperatures.

This apartment is very clean, comfortable and well equipped.
In addition, it is very quiet, light-filled and airy, truly welcoming where we felt at home.
The terrace is really delicious, ideal for sunbathing, relax while sipping a good local wine or having a romantic dinner by candlelight.
The area where it is located is within walking distance of the main sights of the old town, rich in cultural sites and excellent restaurants.
The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable, always helpful and very attentive to our every need.
Palermo city is really full of colors, flavors and tastes and this apartment is an ideal base to fully enjoy the city.

Massimo is a very generous and friendly host. The apartment is well furnished and centrally located for shopping and sightseeing. Train and bus station are less than five minutes away if you would like to use the apartment as a home base for day trips to other cities. Beds are very comfortable I would defiantly recommend to anyone planning a holiday in Sicily.

Stayed in this great apartment for 3 nights in September. Centrally located and well equipped, it is ideally for a city break in Palermo.
Massimo was a wonderful host providing information on local sights and restaurants, even a bottle of local wine on arrival.
Palermo is a fascinating city with lots of historical interests, restaurants, bars and markets. We had a memorable weekend which didn't cost a fortune and will definitely be back!!
