Location perfect for the town, breakfast good (although the decaf tea wasn’t great). Fab quality evening meal, buzzy restaurant, bedroom lovely , clean and classy. Staff very good . Really very pleasantly surprised

The room was clean and in pristine condition, better than I expected for the price I paid. Breakfast was good, I had the Full Cornish on one day and the smoked salmon and egg the other. Real ale on draught was a choice of three from St. Austell Ales.

The Wifi speed was good, however it required me to log in to the hotspot much too frequently. Occasionally it just didn't work and I resorted to 4G. I travelled there in an electric vehicle. Mid Devon is unfortunately a desert for EV charging. A 7kW or 11kW charger in the car park that can be booked overnight would have made my planning easier.

I have stayed here before and would thoroughly recommend staying for someone else. Everything is clean and well looked after. The staff are very polite. It was a pleasure!

The Hotel was warm and cosy, the rooms fabulous and the evening meal and breakfast was exceptional..

The only downside was that there was a fan outside that we could hear all through the night. The cleaner supplied ear plugs for the second night 😊

Breakfast was so nice, we had an evening meal in the restaurant, both having fish and chips, this was one of the tastiest fish and chips we’ve had, and the home made tartar sauce and mushy peas were both delicious. The location was spot on and the room and bathroom were decorated to a high standard.

Some noise on a Saturday night outside spoiled our sleep

Prefer a small (given the size of room) wardrobe rather than look at hanging clothes for three days. Again, staying for 3 nights we like to unpack rather than live out if a suitcase, so a chest of drawers would have been useful.

The rooms were small but clean. The added touch of some luxury toiletries and a nespresso coffee machine. The food was out if this world absolutely delicious def Michelin starred. One of the best meals both myself and my husband have had.

Very noisy outside bar which we were just above. Double glazing helped - and the thoughtfully provided earplugs. Best avoid 'Toad' room at weekends.
