It was a nice house, very spacious. The view over the bay was beautiful. Everything you need was available. Communication with the owner was excellent and there was very good and useful documentation. There was a construction site next to the house, but because we started early every day that was no problem.

Property has a rather unusual layout with the lounge in the basement. This means the best views are always from the Kitchen on the first floor. The only downside is there is a new property being built next door. This was not a problem during our stay but as it grows I suspect the noise will become increasingly intrusive during the day.

Honestly, this place is a remarkable gem, in an adorable town, set in an unforgettable region of Iceland. We LOVED every second here and coming back to this house after a day of exploring felt calming. Bring groceries, have a seat in the hot pot, enjoy the view from a bunk bed, stay a while!!!

Property was great and the instructions were very clear and definitely helpful when trying to almost anything in the house or the area. Great time.

A wonderful stay in Grenivik, spacious and comfortable house. Loved to sit in the backyard and watch the water. Such a beautiful view! Convenient to Akureyri with a short scenic drive. Was a great proprty and a great relaxing stay. Thanks!

The house sits right on the water and is surrounded by mountains. It was clean but there was an odor in the house. The rooms/beds were very nice. We had a bad storm and lost power for about 45 minutes but the host was available by phone and assured us it would be back on shortly.

The home was warm and clean. We had just what was needed.

Everything was wonderful… very clean, all the dishes we needed to cook in, plenty of room, even had a drying rack for items we didn’t want to dry all the way.. many sights to see within 1.5 hours driving, making it our perfect base to explore the north..

We had a nice time at Vallholt. It is a very beautiful house with an awesome view and a marvelous vicinity. Everything was fine!

Really great place to use as a vase to explore North Iceland , both locally and a bit more widely. House was everything we hoped for. My daughter spotted whales out in the bay but declined to tell anyone till the next day! So remind your group to tell everyone if they spot one! If you are really tall (I’m 200cm) mind your head on he beam downstairs!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the house had everything we wanted or needed and there was so much room! The view out over the water was gorgeous and the hot pot was a welcome treat after a day out and about exploring.

We were looking for a quiet place in a beautiful setting. This certainly fit the bill! The rooms were full of light and the view can't be beat. There is a small store that is adequate for most things and an amazing (pleasantly warm) swimming pool with hot pools--not unusual in Iceland but not something common in the USA. We totally enjoyed our time there.

Great location to explore Kaldbakur and the surrounding mountains. Beautiful house with plenty of space and the sunset over the fjord from the hot pot is top notch. Only area of improvement would be a few more essentials in the kitchen and soap/shampoo for the showers.

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal im Haus in Grenivik und genießen es immer wieder. Diesmal haben wir im Hotpott die Nordlichter über uns beobachten können. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Emplacement vraiment magique et la maison parfaite.

Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. (kleinere) Probleme wurden sofort gelöst. Das Haus liegt toll direkt am Meer, es gibt einen kleinen Shop im Ort, ca 40 min bei winterlichen Bedingungen von Akureyri mit viel Einkaufsmöglichkeit entfernt. Einziger Wehmutstropfen: die Strasse wird in der Nacht nicht geräumt, dadurch konnten wir einmal nicht heimfahren (aber dafür kann Thomas und seine Unterkunft nichts, nur als Hinweis für zukünftige Gäste - im Winter auf letzte Schneeräumung achten!). Alles in allem: sehr empfohlen!

This flat is in an out-of-the way place north of Akureyri, on the water, with gorgeous views. Akureyri and its markets are 30 min away, so please plan your food accordingly. There is one small market just two blocks away (walking distance) but it closes around 5 or 6, so once it's closed, food is far enough away to become a hassle. The house itself is very comfortable and well-equipped, with a large dining table and great kitchen. Because the house is all brick, there is no wifi downstairs in the living room, which may cause challenges with those who want to stream entertainment there. The wifi signal is fine upstairs in the dining/bedroom area (maybe this is an area the owner could fix, but let's be honest, we're not going here to watch TV!). The location is great, it's definitely super-quiet, even though the area is lived-in and you see neighbors going about their business in their beautiful houses. One awkward thing was that to dispose of the trash, the only place the owner has for this house is on his other property about 10 minute drive away. The rest of the checkout list was also a little bit involved, with some things on there I would have expected to be done by the cleaning people rather than me. Nothing major, but on the list was to strip the bed, adjust thermostats, take the sorted trash out 10 min away... I don't want to sound whiny, but with 200 euro linen & cleaning fees, this felt excessive. Ultimately, this is a nice place, and can be a comfortable out-of-the-way stay in northern Iceland.

Awesome house, with 1 big Room with king size bed and 2 smaller ones. Big kitchen with all the facilities and a huge and comfy living room in the cave. It was given all instructions days before our arrival with all the details. We consideres the better house during our trip to Iceland. The less positive point was the hot tub, because it took 7/8h to full fill instead of 2 hours as it said in the instructions.

Very good communication, clean, rather big property. Only thing strange was the the interior structure of the house, but we go use to it. Excellent quiet and authentic village. Good if you are travelling in North Iceland

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus in absolut toller Lage! Wir hatten eine sehr schöne und erholsame Zeit!

Wir waren insgesamt fünf Personen und hatten viel Platz und eine schöne Zeit in Grenivik. Das Haus ist sehr komfortabel und bietet einen tollen Blick auf das Meer. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. :-)

Das Haus befindet sich in einem kleinen Ort direkt an der idyllischen Bucht. Auf ausreichend Platz befindet sich alles, was man braucht. Auch kostenloses WLAN ist vorhanden.

This property was clean, comfortable, and stocked with amenities that made our stay great (e.g. a booklet with maps and ideas for things to do and see in the area, very nice coffee maker, etc.). The view of the water from the back window was beautiful. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Wir haben uns in diesem geräumigen Haus, mit einer phantastischen Aussicht direkt aufs Wasser sehr wohl gefühlt. Alles ist Vorhanden! Mit einem Auto hat man auch viele Möglichkeiten die Gegend zu erkunden. Uns hat es sehr gefallen und können es uneingeschränkt weiter empfehlen.

Wir waren zu viert für eine Woche im Haus Vallholt eingebucht. Die Lage und die Aussicht sind einfach unschlagbar! Das Haus war für uns vier Erwachsene vollkommen ausreichend groß und vor allem der Wohn- und der Küchenbereich sind hübsch eingerichtet. Nach einem langen Tag oder nach einer Wanderung konnten wir ganz entspannt den Hotpot genießen. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter lief immer äußerst zügig und freundlich. Und bei kleineren Problemen bekamen wir sofort Hilfe. Wir können das Haus Vallholt nur weiterempfehlen und wären selber gerne noch länger geblieben.

We loved staying here -- even saw the Northern Lights! Had some difficulty with the hot tub, unfortunately, but would certainly come back.
